INTERNATIONAL ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
My time at LJMU was really positive. The Project Management course was designed to be highly focused, intellectually challenging, and research-oriented. Our tutors always pushed us to deliver work of the highest standards, and they asked questions that were related to current problems and solutions in project management. We were even given the wonderful opportunity to take practical courses such as Prince2 and Prendo Scola to apply project management concepts in a simulated environment. All of this contributed greatly to me gaining more confidence in my skill set.
I am currently working as a Digital Project Manager for an edtech company. My goal is to become one of the best IT project managers out there by keeping myself relevant and upskilled in the field. Additionally, I enjoy doing research and may even consider pursuing a PhD in the future.
Ayesha Ibrahim
International MSc Project Management graduate, and alumni from Pakistan
During my studies, I gained in-depth knowledge of both theory and practical formulation in the labs. The staff were extremely supportive and shared their extensive expertise in every lecture and lab session. The MSc Cosmetic Science programme was perfect for gearing us up for the cosmetic, personal care and home care industry, with courses directly in line with industry needs, giving us a strong foundation. The practical lab sessions and projects were not just educational but also extremely fun and helped me build my technical skills and problem-solving abilities. Additionally, the emphasis on sustainability and innovation has been incredibly useful in my current job!
I now work as an R&D Formulation Scientist at Unilever. My work involves developing new formulations and improving existing products to meet consumer needs and hit sustainability targets. I started my journey at Unilever with a summer placement in their R&D Deodorant team, which I got through LJMU’s industry placement program. The placement allowed me to apply my knowledge from the MSc course into action. It was pivotal, offering me hands-on experience and insight into the industry - ultimately shaping my career path.
