Managing Medical Emergencies for Dental Hygienists

The self-guided ePRM Coach Complete course prepares learners to pass the four exams required for Professional Risk Manager (PRM) certification.

Medical emergencies can and do occur in the dental office environment. This course reviews the essentials of a comprehensive medical history, recognition of common medical emergency situations, office emergency protocols, basic airway management, prevention of emergency situations during dental appointments and recognition of symptoms. This course meets the Ohio State Dental Board’s requirements for dental hygienists practicing when the dentist is not physically present.

Retail Banking Certificate (Online) This online course helps participants understand the different types of loan products offered by banks. Learn about the features of mortgage loans and auto loans, and discuss the role and function of bank tellers.

Essentials of Healthcare Informatics

Payroll Level I: Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)

A continuation of Payroll Level I, this course provides students with an in-depth understanding of the advanced skills necessary for payroll managers and supervisors. This program is ideal for experienced payroll professionals seeking compliance training, professional development or CPP certification preparation.

Healthcare informatics is designed for information professionals, clinical personnel and health care support personnel who want to increase their knowledge of health information technology and prepare for the management of the complex social and organizational issues surrounding this major change in healthcare. Certification in healthcare informatics prepares students who already have experience in either an IT-related field, or a health profession to transition into the healthcare informatics workforce as effective members of teams that manage and perform the customization, implementation, integration and maintenance of healthcare information systems, data and components. It is recommended that students enrolling in this program already possess a bachelor’s degree.

Enrolled Agent Certification Program

Hot Stone Therapy

Enrolled agents are licensed by the federal government and have demonstrated special competence in tax matters and professional ethics, and can practice before the IRS anywhere in the United States. The enrolled agent program is a blended learning program intended to prepare participants to pass the SEE exam. Sessions are structured based on the Gleim System for Success. The SEE is a three-part exam administered by Prometrics on behalf of the IRS. You must successfully pass all three parts to receive IRS‑EA certification.

In this course, the student will learn how to perform a hot stone massage. In order to do this, he or she must first learn the indications and contraindications of hot stone massage and the therapeutic benefits. In addition, the student will learn some history of hot stone therapy. Finally, the student will complete a hands-on hot stone massage. There will also be a written exam. Students will explore the history, indications/contraindications and therapeutic benefits of hot stone massage, preparing them to complete a hands-on massage and written exam at the end of the course.

This course teaches the fundamental payroll calculations and applications necessary for individuals who are new to the payroll industry, those who support the payroll industry and individuals preparing for the FPC or CPP certification examinations. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills required to maintain payroll compliance and prevent costly penalties.

Massage and Eden Energy Medicine (EEM) Eden Energy Medicine is a comprehensive healing technique that incorporates nine of the body’s energy systems. This class will teach you how to provide a whole-body experience for your clients by incorporating energy into every massage you perform. It will also cover self-care and troubleshooting techniques, as well as a protocol that can be used with or without massage for deep energy regulation and relaxation.

Community Health Worker (CHW) A Community Health Worker (CHW) is a lay healthcare worker with additional training to assist patients and families with the navigation process to help ensure the patient is guided through the entire continuum within the healthcare system. Students will be introduced to community health concepts, resources and skills related to the role and responsibilities of a Community Health Worker both locally and nationally. Special emphasis will be placed on factors to consider when working within community based settings; characteristics of healthcare models and plans; impact of culture and socioeconomic status on individual’s health and communication; barriers to health care services; and related community resources.

Prenatal Massage Therapy Students will learn the therapeutic benefits and contraindications of prenatal massage as well as how to properly position the client and perform a prenatal massage. Dental Assistant Radiography: Initial Training This course meets the Ohio State Dental Board training requirements for those seeking to become certified dental radiographers. Upon completion of this course, participants will be given 60 days to submit a clinical assignment consisting of exposing radiographs under the supervision of a dentist. A certificate of course completion will be mailed following submission of the clinical assignment.

Comprehensive Professional Medical Coding - Online The medical coding and billing track is designed to prepare students to successfully test for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential. Students will learn the basics including anatomy and physiology, medical terminology and the AAPC’s Professional Medical Coding Curriculum.

Dental Radiography: Radiation Protection Update This two-hour session provides dental assistants with the continuing education necessary to maintain their dental assistant radiographer certifications.
