especially important for the K-5 audience, but content for each grade band must be within one grade level of readability.

The onboarding training session will be delivered in-person in our offices, so participants must be available to meet for around one hour during the training time. (Efforts will be made to accommodate as many participants as possible, by scheduling outside of typical business hours.) All facilities meet or exceed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Participants will receive their first assignment prior to the training session and will be required to familiarize themselves with the assignment. They should prepare any questions they have about the assignment prior to the onboarding training.

Each participant must own a laptop computer, either Windows (8 or more recent) or Apple (Mac OS X 10.11: El Capitan or more recent) are acceptable. The laptops must have upto-date copies of Microsoft Office suite. Each participant must have reliable, high-speed internet available in their home. Participants must install Slack on their laptop computer for intra-team communication, calls, and document sharing. Participants must also use the Google Chrome internet browser, as the CMS and other systems function best on Chrome. Participants should have all software installed and updated prior to the onboarding training session.

Facilitator Prerequisites Facilitators of the onboarding training session must be full-time employees. They should be project managers (PMs) with a minimum of two years’ experience and hold a Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification. The facilitator must be able to speak, read, and write English at a college level. In order to most effectively run the training session, the facilitator should have previously managed at least one development cycle. Ideally, once this training has been in place for a year, new PMs should shadow experienced facilitators before independently running a session. The facilitator must be able to present information to a group of twenty participants and manage the adult classroom setting. Ideally, the facilitator will have experience in public speaking or instruction.

The facilitator should be very familiar with each phase of development and understand the role of each internal and external team member. The facilitator must be able to field questions about the role that the independent contractor (IC) will play. While the facilitator may not be able to answer content-specific questions, he or she must be able to field all questions related to the production process and timeline. The facilitator must know who will be in each internal role in order to direct content-specific questions to the appropriate person.

The facilitator must have access to all systems including the content management system (CMS), Smartsheet, Slack, the writer and editor checklists, the course design plans, and the editorial style guide. The facilitator must be able to access the wireless internet in the office and direct participants in accessing it. He or she must also be able to prepare and print all
