Original Concept

My original plan was to make a bench using only mortise and tenon joints, but I found that this design involved too many joints, making the manufacturing process very complex. So, I started exploring a simpler and more efficient method of connection.

Inspiration

Butterfly Stool (Vitra), Sori Yanagi, 1956 A graceful curve that is also suitable for the human buttocks.

During the first try, I didn't give the line a bit of space, and that ended up making me spend way too much time sanding the pieces. Later, I figured out that the opening needed to be a tad bigger to let the tenon slide through smoothly. After looking into it, I found that having a 0.2mm gap between the pieces works best.
