FAIRFIELD SCOUTS – ADDING TO THE COMMUNITY

It was great to get back to face-to-face Scouts in April, the zoom calls had been OK but it just isn’t the same as seeing everyone (and hadn’t they all grown!)… and being able to undertake more fully all the great activities we’re known for. Nevertheless, our Scouters (Beavers through to Scouts) achieved lots through Lockdown including…

• Badges such as, Cooking, Digital Citizens, Health and Fitness, Global Issues, Environment, Arts, and Safety. • Achieving the Chief Awards is a big achievement for our Beavers; Catherine, Ben, Ross, Freya, Noah, Toby for Bronze, and Hayden & Matthis in Cubs achieved Silver!

• Raising money for charity: Ross who raised money for The Need Project through a bike ride, and William & Oliver who ran a marathon in 14 days during COVID to raise money for the NHS. • Hike to the Moon, a challenge across all ages getting us out and about with all proceeds raised going to Children in Need and Comic Relief. • Litter Picking in the community for the Wombles event.

• Virtual camp fires and camping; Summer Challenges and more.

However none of this can happen without Leaders, and we NEVER have enough of them. We have a long waiting list which we’d love to welcome to Scouting, but we just don’t have enough Adult Helpers. We have a strong and friendly ‘core team in uniform’ which would welcome with open arms more Leaders, Assistant Leaders and Helpers. The reality is, if you’re new to Scouting you won’t be asked to Lead first off so don’t be scared! It’ll be a gradual process of mutual support to keep Scouting in Fairfield exciting.

Please get in touch with us and let us know how you can help…
