Directions to Black Velvet: Starting from the East edge of Mankato on Highway 36, where the highway changes from 2 lane to 4 lane, at that intersection is 170 Road. Then follow the rock road (170 Rd.) South and East for 1 mile. Black Velvet is on the North side of the road. HEALTH: Interstate health papers will be furnished on all cattle selling. The bulls have had Vista 5L5, Vision 7, and ontogenous pinkeye on or before May 1, 2016. Weaning shots of Vista 5L5, Vision 7 and ontogenous pinkeye were given in September 2017 along with Valbazen wormer, and another dose of Vista 5L5, Fusoguard footrot vaccine and Agrimectin pour on 3 weeks after weaning. Bulls were poured with CyLence pour on February 4, 2018. The bulls have been PI BVD tested negative, and were semen tested on February 27, 2018, by Nick Luke, DVM, scrotal measurements will be on a supplemental sheet sale day and on our website as soon as available. The bulls were ultrasound scanned for carcass values on February 10 and information if not shown in catalog, will be available sale day and on our web site. All the cattle selling today are tested. We have tested for DD most animals that had that potential and if they are a carrier it will show as DDC by their names, otherwise if tested and they are free of the defect it will show as DDF, if they have a potential for the defect it will show as DDP. Neither OH, nor DD, are recognized as Lethal Defects by the American Angus Association, so registration is not affected and those animals are still recognized by the Association. PERFORMANCE: All cattle have current 2018 EPDs and Adj. 365 weights
EPDS AND $VALUES:The American Angus Association is now calculating EPDs on a weekly basis using all available carcass harvest data, ultrasound data and the Igenity specific genomic profile data. It is possible new data has been submitted between the date the sale book was finalized and sale day, which will affect the individual EPDs and $Values indexes of the animals selling. If your purchasing decision relies highly on the most current carcass data available, please look up animals of interest on the American Angus Association web page, www.angus.org, prior to viewing the sale offering. TERMS: Cash - please settle for cattle promptly. Animals will not be loaded until settlement is made. All animals selected sale day must be paid for on sale day. INTEREST RETAINED IN BULLS: We are retaining 1/3 semen interest in every bull in this sale, because it generally takes several years for a sire to be “discovered,” we feel we can help our customers find and market bulls that float to the top. You will own full possession and 100% salvage value of the bull. We are retaining the right to 1/3 of the semen sales revenue from the bull if sometime in the future semen sales become a possibility. If you decide to have semen collected for your own herd use, that semen is 100% yours. Please contact Black Velvet Cattle for an opportunity to collect him in a joint venture, splitting semen production costs and revenue of semen sales on a share basis. GUARANTEE: All bulls are guaranteed against breeding injury for the first breeding season. If a replacement bull is available, he will be provided, or if the buyer prefers, credit toward one bull will be given in the following year’s sale, figured according to the following: The injured bull shall be sold in the name of Black Velvet Cattle with freeze brand and ear tag notated by sale barn or packing house, and the base value for the injured bull shall be $1500, unless the injured bull sells for more than that amount, and all credits will be figured on such base amount. Please let us know as soon as you have a problem, waiting until the following year will void the guarantee. TRUCKING: We will be glad to assist in making the best possible trucking arrangements. We offer free delivery within 300 miles on all bulls purchased and if further than 300 miles on a total purchase of $5,000 or more, bulls will be delivered to a central point. Delivery will begin April 1st, if bulls need to be left longer than that, a $3.50 per day charge will apply. INSURANCE: Will be available sale day through Jason Ortman, a Hartford Insurance Agent. LIABILITY: All persons attending this sale do so at their own risk, legal or otherwise for their safety or the behavior of the animals. LUNCH: You are invited to be guests of Black Velvet Cattle for a complimentary lunch on sale day. DISCOUNTS: There will be a discount of $100/purchaser on bulls that are picked up by April 1. We will keep all bulls free of charge through April 1, 2018. If you want your bulls delivered, we can do that, but you will not get a hauling discount and we will need to deliver them on or around April 1, as we will be too busy past that point. Multi-bull discounts are as follows: Same buyer purchases 3 bulls, 3% discount. Same buyer purchases 4 bulls, 4% discount. Same buyer purchases 5 or more bulls, 5% discount.
