LIU Promise sponsors various large-scale programs that are open to the entire campus community each year. Student organizations must attend or form a team for the following events:

a. Host a service event with LIU Promise| First Friday Service Program b. Casino Night| Occurs each November c. Participation in an LIU Cares Initiative | Can be any event chosen by the organization outside of Love Michael

Campus Engagement Requirements for Blue Pillar

Campus Engagement is a critical component of the Long Island University community. Not only does it greatly assist in the recruitment and retention of our student body, but also enhances the experience of every student.

1. General Membership Meetings

All organizations are required to hold five (5) General Membership Meetings during each the fall and spring semester, which can be done in person or virtually. Organizations must track attendance of General Membership Meetings in Presence to account for Active Members (members that attend at least three (3) meetings or events each semester). Advisors should be present at most General Membership Meetings. Student Organizations must submit Meeting Minutes on Presence within one week of each meeting. General membership meetings should be added into Presence using the Event Registration form. Organizations should add their general membership meetings into Presence at the beginning of each semester as soon as the day/time is determined.

2. Executive Board Meetings

All organizations are required to hold a minimum of five (5) Executive Board Meetings each semester, which can be done in person or virtually. Club Advisors should be present at most Executive Board Meetings. Student Organizations must submit Executive Board Meeting Minutes on Presence within one week of each meeting. Executive Board Meetings should also be submitted via the event registration form.

3. Social or Education Programs Plan and implement at least three (3) Social or Educational events each semester that are open to the entire campus community in an effort to establish a culture of campus engagement. Events can be hosted in person or virtually. Social Programs can be any event that engages the campus community in connection to the mission and or goals of the student organization. Collaborating with other clubs and organizations, on-campus departments, and outside resources is encouraged. Educational Programs can include any of the programming pillars listed below: a. Academic Success

i. A program or event that helps develop or build skills surrounding academics here at LIU, such as study skills, how to utilize on-campus resources, and time management. b. Career Readiness i. A program or event that helps students develop the essential skills that are required in the professional environment, such as communication, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence. c. LIU Cares i. A program tied to giving back to the community and civic responsibility. Programs can be hands-on or education based. d. LIU Together: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion i. A program or event that promotes, celebrates and/or educates about the differences in cultures and identities present on Campus. Also includes programs/events that explore problems to equity and inclusion on campus and in society, such as Racism, Sexism, Xenophobia, Classism etc. e. Healthy Living i. Programs geared toward being physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy. Students should learn and refine skills related to bettering themselves.

C. Silver Pillar Requirements

Complete all requirements of the Blue Pillar ranking, and;

1. General Membership Meetings

Hold general membership meetings bi-weekly (Every other week) during the fall and spring semester, which can be done in person or virtually, and attendance must be tracked on Presence.

2. Executive Board Meetings

All organizations are required to hold bi-weekly Executive Board Meetings each semester, which can be done in person or virtually, and must be tracked on Presence. Club Advisors should be present at most Executive Board Meetings. Student Organizations must submit Executive Board Meeting Minutes on Presence within one week of each meeting

3. Educational Programs

Plan and implement at least two (2) additional Educational programs each semester (to total 5 programs per semester) that are open to the entire campus community. Events can be hosted in person or virtually. Educational Programs can include any of the programming pillars listed below:

I. Academic Success

II. Career Readiness III. Civic Responsibility and Service

IV. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

V. Healthy Living

4. Co-Sponsored Events

To earn a Silver Pillar ranking, student organizations are required to host a Co-Sponsored Event with any other Recognized Student Organization each semester. A Co-Sponsored Event can either be a Social or Educational program and can be one of your five (5) total programs.

5. IU Cares

The organization conducts AT LEAST four (4) community service hours per member each semester AND raises and donates AT LEAST $250.00 towards Luv Michael.

D. Gold Pillar RequirementsComplete all requirements of the Silver Pillar ranking, and;

1. Educational Programs

Plan and implement one additional Educational program each semester (to total 6 programs per semester, 3 educational) that are open to the entire campus community. Events can be hosted in person or virtually. Educational Programs can include any of the programming pillars listed below:

a. Academic Success b. Career Readiness c. Civic Responsibility and Service d. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion e. Healthy Living

2. Co-Sponsored Events

To earn a Gold Pillar ranking, student organizations are required to host two (2) Co-Sponsored Events with any other Recognized Student Organization each semester. A Co-Sponsored Event can either be a social or educational program and can be one of your six (6) total programs.

3. LIU Cares

The organization conducts AT LEAST ten (10) community service hours per active member each semester AND raises and donates AT LEAST $500.00 towards Luv Michael.

Evaluation Deadlines

Pillars of Excellence rankings will be evaluated annually in April and the earned ranking will stay with the organization for the following academic year as long as the Registered Student Organization remains in good standing. In order to qualify for evaluation, fall semester reports must be turned in by the last day of classes of the fall semester. Spring semester reports must be turned in by April 15 in order for rankings to be determined prior to the annual Student Leadership Awards Ceremony and Gold Pillar Reception.
