Syosset students assist the needy

Family dedicates Turkey Trot run to Mikey Rampanelli This year’s Oyster Bay Turkey Trot was more than just a run—it was a heartfelt tribute to Mikey Rampanelli, age 21 who tragically lost his life in a tragic motorcycle accident on September 15, 2024, and whose memory continues to inspire us every day. His family noted, that the support from Syosset reminded them that his spirit lives on in each step taken. "Mikey had the biggest heart, an infectious laugh, and a love for family, fun, friends, community and his Syosset Wrestling Team and giving back," said his mother, Kim. "Mikey's spirit was everything he stood for 'Be who U R and let everyone Love that Person.' "

Syosset students (left to right) Daniel Zimmerman (sophomore), Wes Sigler (senior), Emma Tramposch (South Woods 8th grade), Drew Sigler (South Woods, 8th grade) and Ethan Tramposch (sophomore) packaged meals at North Shore Synagogue, in Syosset, at their annual Thanksgiving Cook-a-Thon. This event provides meals for over 1,000 people in our community and involves preparing, cooking, assembling, cleaning and delivering meals. Gone from my sight, but never from my heart”, says sister Nicole Rampanelli. In honor of Mikey, the Rampanelli family's mission is to award scholarships to Syosset high school seniors who embody the qualities See page 6

Town plans blood drive

With hospitals facing a nationwide blood shortage, the Town of Oyster Bay invites residents to attend a Blood Collection Drive on Tuesday, December 23, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hicksville Athletic Center, located at 167 S. Broadway in Hicksville. Town Clerk Richard LaMarca stated, “Blood supplies are criti-

cally needed for local hospitals to meet the demand and continue saving lives. Please consider participating in this blood drive to help bolster our blood banks and ensure as many people as possible can be helped. Together, we can give the gift of life though a simple blood donation.” See page 6
