Board backs $8.35M bond for Edgemere Firehouse
MERRY CHRISTMAS
BY RIKKI MASSAND The Village Board of Trustees approved an $8.35 million bond resolution at its Thursday, December 11 meeting, moving forward with a long-debated renovation and expansion plan for Garden City Fire Station No. 2, located at the corner of Edgemere Road and Stewart Avenue. The board had previously reviewed three renovation and construction options for the 1930s-era building at its November 20 meeting, with presentations from Fire Chief
James Taunton, Superintendent of Buildings Giuseppe Giovanniello, and Trustee Vinny Muldoon, who provided an overview of construction considerations. Following discussion, trustees agreed to proceed with the full-scale “Scenario 1” project, paired with a detailed scope of work reflecting the projected cost. The vote was 7–0, with one abstention. The approved resolution outlines a comprehensive renovation, including a full interior See page 52
