CEO’s Desk

The year 2022 marks the 20th anniversary of Umalusi and I wish to take this opportunity on behalf of the Umalusi Council, management, and staff to congratulate all the institutions presented with their accreditation certificates on 14 March 2022 after a long, demanding accreditation process.

The certificate is not a mere licence to operate but a symbol of quality assurance that inspires parents, learners, and society to have confidence in the quality of our education system and independent institutions. This achievement is indeed a milestone to be celebrated by all institutions awarded accreditation status.

Congratulations to all the 52 independent schools awarded accreditation to offer the National Curriculum Statement leading to the National Senior Certificate and the one private college accredited to offer the National Certificate (Vocational) level 2 – 4. The accreditation status is awarded in respect of the General and Further Education and Training Quality Assurance Act (Act 58 of 2001).

I hope that other institutions that are still in the process of obtaining their accreditation status will be inspired by the achievement of these institutions and work hard to achieve their accreditation status. The recording of the online event can be viewed on the official Umalusi YouTube channel, UmalusiSA, or on our website www.umalusi.org.za
