Disney on Ice celebrates 100 years of magic

Ronnie Greer at the Island Music Club Ronnie Greer has been at the centre of the Irish Blues and Jazz scene for over 40 years. His distinctive guitar style has led to him being referred to as a Blues Guitar Legend.

Ronnie regularly collaborates with the finest musicians in the country. Playing host at Island Music Club, Ronnie draws from his vast network of musicians to bring us a special evening of blues and jazz based music. Appearing with Ronnie Greer tonight are Gráinne Duffy on guitar & vocals and John McCullough on piano. Gráinne Duffy is a regular at Jazz & Blues festivals in the UK

and Ireland. Grainne plays a mean electric blues guitar, and sings like a long lost relative of BB King with classic numbers like 'Rather Go Blind' and 'The Thrill has Gone'.

John McCullough is a session keyboard player for many of Ireland's top musicians. He features on many albums and has toured Europe with bands like The Waterboys and with Sharon Corr.

Don't miss Ronnie Greer at the Island Arts Centre on Friday 23rd May at 8pm. Tickets priced £10 are available by calling 02892 509254.

The Bugle Babes at The Island The Bugle Babes are a superb harmony trio that mixes up a delicious cocktail of jazz, swing and jive with lashings of vintage glamour on the side! On the 70th anniversary of the D Day landings, this evocative and nostalgic evening recreates a bygone era, a time when the wireless was the entertainment centre of many a home. This trio of pencil-skirted, vintage coiffed, stockinged ladies will perform hits from the time, such as classic songs from The Andrews Sisters like 'The Boogie Woogie

Bugle Boy', 'In the Mood', 'Rum and Cocacola', along with a few surprises including a 1940s version of 'I Will Survive.'

The Bugle Babes play Lisburn's Island Arts Centre on Friday 6th JUne at 8pm. Tickets priced £14 are available by calling 02892 509254.

Blind Boys of Alabama to play Belfast The Blind Boys Of Alabama are living legends of Gospel music, with a career stretching back more than 70 years. They have enjoyed some of the biggest success in the last 10 years, during which time they have won 5 Grammy Awards and 4 Gospel Music Awards.

Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and their friends from Disney's Mulan, The Lion King and Pinocchio, and Disney/Pixar's The Incredibles and Finding Nemo, will be taking to the ice while Stitch from Lilo & Stitch drops in to wreak his usual havoc during this grand celebration in Disney On Ice celebrates 100 Years of Magic. Produced by Feld Entertainment, this fanfare production features more than 60 unforgettable Disney stars that span the decades, a sing-along score of awardwinning Disney music, stunning choreography, elaborate sets and beautiful costumes. With Mickey and Minnie leading the fun, audiences enjoy breathtaking production numbers choreographed by Emmy Award(R)-winner Sarah Kawahara.

Kawahara previously worked with Michelle Kwan and choreographed the skating segment for the Opening Ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympics.

in order to mimic the natural movement in water. Renowned designer Bob Mackie also lends his talents to a red sequined evening gown worn by Minnie.

Complementing Kawahara's fabulous skate sequences are the memorable tunes compiled by music directors Art Kempel and Stan Beard that bring the wonderful memories of Disney to life on ice. Scenic Designer David Potts and Lighting Designer LeRoy Bennett create the mood and settings that showcase extraordinary Disney moments.

Scenic Designer David Potts, who has worked on numerous Broadway productions, creates a theatrical atmosphere on ice.

Outfitting this cast of more than 60 characters was the challenge facing Costume Designer Scott Lane. His dazzling designs range from Mickey's Marching Band, to the "it's a small world" dolls, to the stars of Mulan and Finding Nemo. The bright colors and minimal structure in the Nemo costumes allow the characters to move freely

Skaters weave around and enliven the "it's a small world" sequence amidst sparkling floats that turn into a radiant light parade; a blanket of snow and an avalanche fall as Mulan battles the Huns; and a giant present is opened to reveal Buzz Lightyear as he's first introduced to that favorite toy cowboy, Woody and his pal Jessie. This One-of-a-Kind Skating Spectacular Features More Than 60 Disney Stars comes to Belfast's Odyssey Arena from November 20th to 23rd. Book now at www. ticketmaster.ie
