2018 Mat-Su Personal Use Firewood Harvest Areas Alsop Area The Point MacKenzie Alsop North Personal Use Area is open for harvesting mixed saw timber. It is available on a first come first served basis from Feb. 2 to Dec. 31, 2018. Live standing spruce saw timber must be greater than 9� diameter at breast height and live standing birch saw timber must be greater than 11" diameter at breast height to be harvested during this offering. All dead down and dead standing timber may also be harvested. A $25 permit is required and may be obtained from our Personal Use Firewood page or at the Land & Resource Management Division from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays at the Mat-Su Borough Administration Building, 350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer. The permit must be in your possession during the removal of wood from the site. The cost for each cord of wood is $25 with a maximum of 10 cords per household per year from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough and must be purchased prior to harvesting. It is available on a first come first served basis from Feb. 2 to Dec. 31, 2018.
