Prevention is always better than cure. All too often we find that as soon as winter begins so do the sniffles and sneezes which are the start to something more. Maintaining your immune system is a very good way to make sure that should you be stressed and/or sleep deprived your body is able to fight off infections. Good hygiene is always key to preventing the transmission of the disease causing germs. Wash your hands regularly. Stay hydrated with herb teas (no sugar and milk), if you find drinking cold water difficult during the winter months. Get the right amount of sleep every night. The average person needs 6-8 hours of sleep per night. If you’re not getting enough sleep, your body is extremely vulnerable to illness. Try as best you can to remain active by doing work outs at home if you find it too cold to go out to the gym. Lessen your intake of sugar; daily sugar has been shown to decrease your immune response. Get your sweet fix from different fruits in a wonderful coloured fruit salad.
