Summer is in full swing up here in the beautiful alpine village of Limone.

It's so nice seeing everyone outside enjoying the spectacular mountain activities.

In this summer edition of Limone Living, we wanted to highlight for you some of the best activities that Limone has to offer in the summertime.

While the road works are still in progress for the Col de Tende access with some restrictions in place, it is still worth making the drive through Savona which is only a little bit further, to enjoy such a beautiful natural playground of the Limone mountains for the whole family.

The restaurants and cafes of the village are open and are happy to serve up some of the best local cuisine in the region. As you will read in this issue, one of the restaurants just received 3 chef hats in a renowned food guide for Italy.

We also wanted to share a story with you of profound commitment and hard work with the residential project of Villa Almellina Estates. Neither the pandemic nor last year's storm Alex has stopped the progress of the construction of this project. It has been an undeniable example of a group of people dedicated and willing to rise up above the challenges for a shared vision.

It is this principle of working towards a shared vision that we wanted to share with all our readers because together our visions and dreams have impact and meaning.

According to the Via del Sale event organizers, "It probably wasn't the perfect edition, but the one we put the most heart and soul into."

The competition included two routes: the 45 km Granfondo (maximum altitude 2246 meters, starting altitude 1.031 meters), also open to e-bikes, and the 30 km Mediofondo starting from Quota 1400. There were 300 cyclists participating in the races.

Coming in first place for men Marco Rebagliati (2:23:11) and first place women Meli Nicoletta (3:32:44).

Italy's natural playground in Limone is a place to reconnect with the adventurous child in yourself.

When you pause to take in the scenic panoramic mountain views in Limone, it comes as no surprise that Limone is more than just a local winter ski resort, but rather a year-round mountain playground for both children and adults.

For cyclists, the Via del Sale offers an enjoyable and challenging ride. There are numerous routes suitable for all levels. The Alta Via del Sale is the "evocative" route with a renowned bike race named after it.

Every year on the last Sunday of June, over 1000 participants come to One of the most evocative routes is the one called Alta Via del Sale which connects Colle di Tenda to Monesi di Triora (a town in the Ligurian hinterland).

An important Mountain Bike race takes its name from this route, which has been taking place on the last Sunday of June for over 12 years and gathers more than 1000 participants.

For the more hands-on adventurer, mountain climbing the new Via Ferrata, built at Bec Valletta, in the S. Giovanni valley is a good medium challenging climb. From Limone, you can quickly take the car to the Maire Rocca Rosso marine from which you proceed by foot to the Marie Valletta. Alternatively, you can also walk from the center of Limone which will take you about an hour and a half to reach the start of the Ferrata.

The Via Ferrata has a medium difficulty category with a vertical drop of 380m.

IN THE VILLAGE A charming morning stroll through the heart of Limone

Taking a morning stroll in the village of Limone is one of the best times to truly appreciate the beauty of this authentic alpine village.

A few steps away, the Church of the Cappuccini Convent (18th century), the Church of Sant’Antonio da Padova (1657), and the Chapel of San Giovanni Battista (1614) also deserve a visit.

Surrounded by the incredibly scenic mountaintops, the village of Limone carries sublime energy and conviviality that can be truly appreciated with a fresh coffee in the morning before the streets fill in with tourists and locals alike.

The oldest festival is the Abaya –On the last Sunday of August the oldest festival instituted in 1529, the Abaya is celebrated. It celebrates the many companies of muleteers who transported goods through the pass.

The San Pietro in Vincoli Parish Church from the 16th century is one of the best examples of medieval architecture in the area.
