A different kind of winter in Limone BY

As if we have all woken up from a long winter sleep, Limone is slowly reopening.

Starting Saturday, December 19th, Riserva Bianca has reported the opening of the slopes for the athletes and ski clubs.

The hotels are open and the restaurants are open for food delivery and service for hotel guests.

Access to Limone is open coming from Cuneo and Savona, while the French Department of the Alpes Maritimes have made Tende accessible from Fontan via the Gorges de Paganin via a temporary lane with limited time slots in the morning and evening.

The Cuneo-Ventimiglia railway line is expected to be fully restored by January 18th!

Heli Air Monaco has also confirmed helicopter service to Limone.

Although it is a quiet, slower winter in Limone this year with travel restrictions in place and Covid safety measures in place, we can greatly appreciate the beauty of this community and supporting the local businesses as best we can.

By Juanita Viale Photographs by Sergio d'Angelo On a quiet partly cloudy morning in Limone, Italian recording artist Sergio d'Angelo set out on the empty slopes to photograph the essence of the stunning nature of this favourite local ski resort.

After 3 decades of djing and producing music, this renown artist in Europe's clubbing scene is creating a sense of wanderlust in us to rediscover this winter escape from an artistic and natural point of view.

"After days of heavy snow my desire to plow through a space of fresh snow was so strong I couldn't even sleep. From Limone 1400 I went up with snowshoes and snowboard in my backpack to the 'Marmotte' chalet. In the immense silence, interrupted only by my steps, I understood the importance of living in such a magical place where nature and I were one!"

Back in the scenic mountain village of Limone, Fantino Costruzioni diligently continues the building of Villa Almellina Estates luxury residential project.

Although 2020 presented unprecedented challenges with the coronavirus pandemic, it also brought along with it an unexpected massive storm, Storm Alex, which ravaged the hinterlands of both the French and Italian Riviera.

While the community of Limone did experience some damage, it was light compared to that of neighboring France which left communities completely destroyed and isolated.

The community of Limone reacted quickly to clean up the damage which allowed Fantino's team to quickly assess the project, which thankfully had no damage reported and allowed for a relatively quick

Before the snow arrived the crew was able to finish the gardens and terraces for the chalets that are nearing completion.

Despite the snow now, the team is will be finishing Chalet 5 next week and are also working at full speed for Grand Chalet 1.

The Villa Almellina Estates residential project is made up of 10 chalets (7 holiday homes chalets and 3 residential chalets) and and a hotel de charme located on Via Almellina, just a 5 minutes walk to the slopes and the village. The project is desinged and sold in a team collaboration with Ski Chalets Limone.
