Jammers Take To The Skies The 2011 Billabong BVI Kite Jam is off to a flying start this Saturday for its second year of sea, sun and lots fun. This year’s event sees Pro Riders and Kiteboarding legends from across the world taking to the waves, looking for windy weather and hot competition. Yachts from Sunsail will be home to the Kite Jammers while they enjoy the daytime boarding action and party nights. Among the contenders for this exhilarating week are the VI’s own Madison and Charlotte van Hueurck who will be returning from last year’s inaugural event. On Sunday, the Kiteboarders’ flotilla will leave for North Sound for some free kiting and a race brief for Monday’s round Necker Island Challenge. After the Challenge on Monday, the group will race their catamarans to Anegada for sunset kiting. Tuesday and Wednesday will be spent kiting off the island and will include daily pro-clinics. All three nights in Anegada end with fun filled parties at the Billabong BVI Kite Jam Village at the Anegada Reef Hotel. The boarders then race their yachts back to Bitter End on Thursday for an afternoon in Eustatia Sound followed by the BVI Party at Leverick

Yacht Spotting There are few things I enjoy more than sitting on the shores of North Sound and partaking in my favorite daytime activity – yacht spotting. I’m not talking about your everyday yachts. The chartered sailboats that pour in and out of North Sound during high season might be exciting in other parts of the world, but in North Sound my eyes are on the mega yachts. The majestic yachts that come to explore the sound are a sight unto themselves. It’s not everyday you’ll score a great find, but when you do there’s usually a story behind it. One of my best discoveries occurred back in March of 2009, when the yacht Athena pulled into the Sound. The white 3-masted schooner is owned by internet mogul James Clark. On this particular journey, Clark tied the knot with supermodel, Kristy Hinze. The yacht was decked in its full glory and rumor had it Jimmy Buffet entertained the crowd. The Maltese Falcon, formerly owned by venture capitalist, Tom Perkins pulled up alongside Athena for a few days. The Maltese Falcon is an unusual looking yacht and made for the modern age. The automatically deployed sails make for quite a show. Another time, The Rising Sun, once the largest yacht in the world and previously owned by Larry Ellison of Oracle moored itself

Yacht “A”

in the center of the Sound. The giant yacht features a basketball court that doubles as a helicopter landing pad. This time, the scuttlebutt was that Dianne Sawyer and her directorial husband Mike Nichols were on board. The couple spent some time touring the docks of Biras Creek, but with a boat that cost over $200 million dollars to build, who would want to go ashore? The yacht “A” owned by Russian oligarcah Andrey Melnichenko also spends a fair amount of time in North Sound. This unique yacht is easy to spot with its distinctive profile. Yacht “A” remains a bit of a mystery, but it is certainly a sight to see. You won’t always catch a glimpse of a fantastic mega yacht, but if you search long enough, you’ll find a gem of a yacht, with a story all of your own!

You Again No matter how old you are, you never get over high school. You Again is a nonstop laugh fest, in this hysterical reunion of nice girl versus mean girl. Directed by Andy Fickman (Race to Witch Mountain, Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical) and written by first-timer Moe Jelline, You Again is predicated on the grim notion that you can transform yourself from the ugly duckling into the swan, but you’ll never be free of the ugly duckling whose awkward and ungainly waddle were mercilessly mocked by others. Moe Jelline's screenplay in a sense combines two comedy subgenres, wedding and high school reunion movies, with the theory being that such gatherings bring out the worst in people. You Again is an outrageous comedy featuring an all-star female cast, including Kristen Bell, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sigourney Weaver, Odette Yustman, Kristin Chenoweth and Betty White. Marni (Kristen Bell) a successful PR executive has to make a trip home for her brother’s wedding. What she doesn’t realize is that her brother, Will (James Wolk) is marrying Joanna (Odette Yustman), the girl who tormented her in high school and made her life a living hell. To make matters worse, Marni’s mom Gail (Jamie Lee Curtis) recognizes the bride’s highfalutin aunt as her own high school rival. In one of those only in the movies contrivances, Joanna (Yustman) claims to not remember Marni. Thus, Marni sets out to prove that the too good to be true Joanna does remember torturing her and that she’s a phony.

Creating Power Shifts

right path without allowing yourself to be sidetracked. Make short and long term goals and reward yourself when you have achieved them. Take action. Instead of making excuses, take action. Banish negative thoughts and words like can’t, unable, not qualified enough, etc. Shift the power to positive words like “I can”, “I am creative”, “I am capable”, etc. If you think it and say it long enough, you will begin to believe and act it out and your life will become a positive self fulfilling prophecy. Think of one area of your life where you are dissatisfied and see where you can make a change. The shift could be gradual or it could be drastic. Take power from the emotions that sap you, people that belittle you, negative talk that cripples you and habits that threaten to overcome you. Make a conscious decision today to create power shifts in your life and take ownership of your present and your future.

Many persons go through life blaming their parents, the colour of their skin, their education level or the fact that they were born poor for their current circumstances. While these things could have an impact, you can decide whether you will let them continue to do so. How do you do that? Examine your life. Make an honest appraisal; do you make decisions based on other persons’ opinions, but never trust your own instincts and judgment? Do you give others power to control you by your inability to say “No”? Do you refuse to stand up for yourself? Assess your priorities. What is taking center stage in your life? Is it your job; partying? your relationship; your studies? That is the area where you will be spending the most time, the most money and the most energy. Therefore, make sure that it is something that will empower rather than drain you. Identify your goals. Determine what steps need to be taken to ensure that you stay on the
