Principal ’ s Address

On behalf of the staff and students of Limerick ETSS, I am delighted to welcome you to our whole school musical - Aladdin. We are excited to be back here this year for our third consecutive musical in the magnificent venue that is the Lime Tree Theatre - a venue that is fitting for what will be an incredible show. Tonight’s production comes on the back of months of hard work and commitment from a large team. It’s an opportunity for our young people to showcase and celebrate their array of talents from music, song, dance, drama and so much more. Creative arts are central to much that we do in LETSS and the benefits, which you will see in abundance tonight, extend far beyond the classroom and I have no doubt that they will have a lasting positive impact on our students personal development and success, and for some, even future career opportunities.

It takes a lot of courage to go on stage and perform in front of a live audience which includes parents, family members, classmates and members of the school community. On behalf of the school community, congratulations to all our cast and crew on making this production a reality. It is testament to an incredible effort by each and every one of you. Well done. We are extremely proud of you all.

The rehearsal time and coaching that goes into preparing and producing a whole school musical is tremendous. Staging on a production of this scale featuring a cast of 130 students is a test of the school’s ability to work together so that ultimately students can showcase their talents, all of which you will bear witness to in tonight’s production. Firstly, thank you to all who have helped out, particularly our music department - the dream team of Emma Mullins and Jean Wallace. Well done to you both for all your hard work and commitment, your positivity and encouragement of the students and for inspiring them to be the best that they can be.

Special thanks to our choreographer Pam McGlynn and musical director Jessica Bray. The cast are incredibly fortunate to be able to work with two of Limerick’s finest - your knowledge and experience has been invaluable throughout the process and you have brought the highest levels of professionalism and expectations to the cast and crew, all of which will permeate through so many elements of the show tonight.

To Crea and Sorcha in the Art Department, together with Alan and Mike in the Woodwork Department, thanks for all your help in creating the superb props that you see on stage tonight. To Dermot - our caretaker, you do so much that goes unseen but is crucial for everything to run smoothly. Thank you. To all our students who have assisted in some way with the production - thank you. To Brian, Donal and Gary –thanks for all your help with transporting the props. To Shane – thanks for all your work putting together this very programme and for the photography.

Special thanks to Declan and Liz of Star Systems for all your support with the technical aspects of the show.

Thank you also to Gillian, Louise, Rachel, Jay, Sharon and the team of staff in the Lime Tree Theatre.

To our incredible middle leadership team composed of Maria, Michelle C, Meghan, Liz B, Fiona, Eleanor, Michelle W and Zara - thanks for all that you do behind the scenes in support of the musical.

To our Deputy Principal - Liz S - thank you so much for the work that you do in ensuring that no stone is left unturned. The logistics of running a musical like this are vast while at the same time, school has to run.

To the staff of LETSS, your support and encouragement of our students does not go unnoticed. Thanks for your patience particularly in recent weeks. From assisting with supervision, backstage, props, transport, makeup, the raffle - the list is long. It has been a whole school effort. Thank you for all your help and support.

To Mary, Lynn and Francesca in the office. Thank you for all your help and support in recent weeks.

To our Board of Management and Parents’ Council, as always, thank you for your support.

Finally, on behalf of everyone in LETSS, we invite you to sit back and enjoy our production of ‘Aladdin’.

Cast

Played

Bio: Much like Aladdin, AJ is always on the move – sitting still for more than five minutes just isn’t his style! Taking on this role has been an incredible journey, boosting his confidence and bringing him even closer to his friends. He has loved every moment of the experience and can’t wait to bring the magic of Aladdin to life on stage!

Played by: Alejandra Shinners-Puente

Bio: As a kid, Alejandra always dreamed of one day becoming a Disney Princess! This is her first time on stage, and it really is a dream come true. Alejandra has loved making the most of her TY experience, meeting new friends, and getting closer with others through this production.

Genie

Played by: Cillian Ryan

Bio: Last year, Cillian was hesitant to audition to his full potential, but after having such an incredible experience in “All Shook Up” he was determined to push himself further, landing the role of Genie and has put heart and soul into bringing this larger-than-life character to the stage.

Jafar

Played by: Adam Hall

Bio: Adam is thrilled to take on the role of Jafar. This marks his second production with LETSS, following his standout performance in All Shook Up (2024). Adam loves the challenge of playing a villain and has enjoyed bringing Jafar’s cunning and ambition to life on stage.

Bio: Yeshua first took to the stage as a young child with Frontline, and TY felt like the perfect time to return to theatre. Taking on the role of Iago has been an exciting challenge, combining puppeteering, acting and voice work all in one. The final show will be bittersweet, as he will really miss this experience!

Sultan

Bio: Conor has loved the chance to grow with an amazing group of people. He believes they were a shy bunch, but as the show has progressed, they have become tight-knit and are really coming out of their shells. He has loved experimenting with accents, and most of all “having the craic” with his friends!
