Otherworldly DES MONDES IRRéELS Illusions d’optique et réalités miniatures MUba - Eugène Leroy tourcoing – Dans le cadre de Fantastic / lille3000 – Dans le cadre de Fantastic lille3000, le MUba de Tourcoing invite le MAD Museum of Arts and Design de New York, en présentant l’exposition Otherworldly. La notion de réalité virtuelle a été un facteur déterminant dans la transformation de notre environnement social et artistique depuis les années 70. Cependant, le plaisir de faire des choses à la main ou engageant d’une façon très directe matière et savoir-faire ne cesse de croître. Otherworldly met en lumière le phénomène d’une renaissance de l’intérêt chez les artistes pour des constructions miniatures et des productions d’environnements artificiels ou de réalités alternatives faites à la main et à petite échelle, présentées sous la forme de dioramas, de maquettes et d’installations in situ spécifiques, soit sous celle de sujets pour la photographie ou la vidéo. In presenting the exhibition Otherworldly, the MUba in Tourcoing invites New York’s MAD (or Museum of Arts and Design) to greater Lille. The concept of virtual reality has been a key factor in the transformation of our social and artistic environment since the 1970s. At the same time, the pleasure of making things by hand and directly applying knowledge to link different materials together continues to grow. Otherworldly highlights the revival of interest among artists for miniature structures and the production of artificial environments such as small-scale, handmade alternate realities in the form of dioramas, models and specific on-site installations, or in the form photographs and video.

NL Het MUba van Tourcoing nodigt het MAD Museum of Arts and Design van New York uit voor de tentoonstelling Otherworldly. De notie van virtuele realiteit is sinds de jaren 1970 een bepalende factor in de transformatie van ons sociaal en artistiek milieu. Nochtans blijft het plezier om iets met de handen te maken of om materiaal en knowhow op een directe manier te laten samengaan, almaar groeien. Otherworldly belicht het fenomeen van een vernieuwde interesse van kunstenaars voor de bouw van miniaturen en artificiële omgevingen of voor met de hand gemaakte alternatieve werelden op kleine schaal, die worden voorgesteld in de vorm van kijkkasten, maquettes of specifieke in situ installaties, of in de vorm van modellen voor fotografie en video.
