The Inland Northwest has long been a sought-after destination for homeowners and visitors. Nestled among pristine lakes, scenic mountain ranges, and thriving communities, this region offers a unique blend of natural beauty and investment potential. Each summer, the local real estate market experiences a surge in interest as vacationers turn into homebuyers, captivated by the laid-back lifestyle and the allure of lakefront and mountain properties.

Current Real Estate Trends

As of summer 2025, the real estate market in Bonners Ferry, Sandpoint, and Coeur d'Alene remains strong, though slightly different from the fast-paced growth seen in previous years. Median home prices in these areas have stabilized after rapid increases in the past decade, making it a favorable time for buyers.

Sandpoint, known for its proximity to Lake Pend Oreille and Schweitzer Mountain Resort, continues to attract those looking for a mix of year-round recreation and small-town charm. Waterfront properties remain highly desirable, with listings often selling within weeks. New developments along the lakeshore and surrounding forested areas cater to seasonal residents and permanent homeowners.

The market in Coeur d'Alene is experiencing a slight cooling after years of exponential growth. While luxury waterfront estates remain in high demand, there is an increasing interest in mid-range homes as more families and retirees relocate from larger metropolitan areas. The city's lively downtown, growing job market, and numerous recreational opportunities make it a prime choice for those seeking a balanced lifestyle.

Real estate trends in the area shift with the seasons, and summer is a prime time for transactions. Warmer weather brings an influx of visitors, many of whom fall in love with the region and begin exploring real estate opportunities. Simultaneously, sellers list properties during peak tourist months to capitalize on increased demand. Whether looking for a vacation rental, a second home, or a permanent residence, buyers are drawn to the Inland Northwest for its balance of adventure and tranquility. But how exactly does tourism shape the real estate market, and what should buyers and investors keep in mind this summer? Let’s explore the current trends, market dynamics, and key insights for those considering a real estate investment in this picturesque region.

“From the moment we met Jordan, until well after the completion of the job, this company’s service, integrity and workmanship has been impeccable. We highly recommend Jordan and Western Construction and Roofing for any of your construction needs.”

“Jordan and his team did an outstanding job with my new roof. Not only was his bid very competitive, his team was extremely professional and dedicated to doing a quality job. One of the best experiences I have had with any contractor. I would highly recommend Western. If you need a new roof, HIRE WESTERN!!”

As a family owned business with 20 years of experience in the roofing industry, we are dedicated to providing top-tier roofing services to both residential and commercial customers in North Idaho and Eastern Washington. As a preferred contractor with several of the industries top brands, we can offer lifetime warranties on our roof materials. We believe in treating your home as if it were our own and working hard on every job to apply the ‘Golden Rule,’ while delivering high-quality workmanship, customer service and an overall great experience.

With Idaho’s relatively low property taxes compared to neighboring states, the Inland Northwest is a lucrative market for those looking to invest in rental properties or seasonal residences.

Bonners Ferry, traditionally known for its rural appeal, is seeing a gradual rise in interest, particularly from buyers looking for larger land parcels and self-sustaining properties. As remote work continues to offer flexibility, more individuals consider northern Idaho a viable alternative to city living.

Overall, vacation rentals and second homes remain key drivers of real estate demand. With Idaho’s relatively low property taxes compared to neighboring states, the Inland Northwest is a lucrative market for those looking to invest in rental properties or seasonal residences.

Impact of Tourism on Real Estate

Tourism plays a crucial role in shaping the real estate market in Bonners Ferry, Sandpoint, and Coeur d’Alene. The summer months bring an influx of visitors, many of whom choose to extend their stays, renting properties for weeks or even months at a time. This seasonal demand boosts the short-term rental market, with platforms like Airbnb and Vrbo experiencing peak bookings from June through September.

Sandpoint, in particular, thrives on tourism, with visitors drawn to its waterfront activities, music festivals, and scenic hiking trails. The thriving tourism scene has led to increased investment in vacation rentals, driving up property values and making short-term rentals a profitable venture. As a result, many homeowners are purchasing properties specifically for seasonal leasing, creating a competitive market for rental-ready homes.

Coeur d’Alene’s tourism economy, fueled by its world-class golf courses, waterfront resorts, and summer events like the Ironman competition, contributes significantly to its local real estate landscape. Many outof-state visitors, especially from California and Washington, come for vacation and leave with property listings in hand, keen on securing a second home near Lake Coeur d’Alene.

Even Bonners Ferry, a quieter gem, benefits from travelers looking to explore the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge or experience rural Idaho’s charm. The growing interest in agritourism and sustainable living has led to an increase in demand for properties with acreage, further strengthening the real estate market.

However, the rise in short-term rentals has also sparked discussions about housing availability and affordability for local residents. Some areas have introduced regulations to balance the interests of fulltime homeowners and seasonal investors. For buyers and investors, understanding local policies on vacation rentals is essential before making a purchase.

Tips for Buyers and Investors

Understanding market trends and strategic planning are key for those looking to invest in real estate in the Inland Northwest this summer. Here are some essential tips to consider:

Identify the Best Location for Your Goals

• If you’re looking for a vacation rental, focus on high-tourism areas like Sandpoint and Coeur d’Alene, where seasonal demand is strong.

• For long-term investments, consider Bonners Ferry or the outskirts of Sandpoint, where property prices may offer more room for appreciation.

Understand Seasonal Demand

• Properties near lakes and recreational hubs tend to appreciate in value, especially if they cater to summer tourists.

• Short-term rental investors should analyze occupancy rates and rental income potential before purchasing a property.

Factor in Local Regulations

• Some areas have implemented restrictions on short-term rentals to preserve community balance. Ensure compliance with local ordinances before investing in an Airbnb property.

Leverage Market Timing

• Summer is the busiest time for real estate transactions. While competition may be higher, it’s also the best time to explore available properties in peak condition.

• Buyers looking for deals may find better opportunities in early fall when the tourist season slows down.

As visitors flock to the region for its breathtaking scenery and outdoor recreation, many fall in love with the lifestyle and begin considering real estate opportunities.

Consult Local Experts

• Working with realtors specializing in the Inland Northwest can provide valuable insights into market trends and emerging opportunities.

• Seeking advice from property management companies can help investors optimize rental income and navigate regulations.

Evaluate Property Features

• Waterfront access, mountain views, and proximity to attractions can significantly impact a property’s resale value.

• Homes with modern amenities, outdoor living spaces, and energy-efficient features are increasingly popular among buyers.

Real estate and tourism are inextricably linked in the Inland Northwest, making summer a pivotal season for buyers, investors, and homeowners. As visitors flock to the region for its breathtaking scenery and outdoor recreation, many fall in love with the lifestyle and begin considering real estate opportunities. Whether investing in a vacation rental, purchasing a second home, or relocating permanently, understanding seasonal trends and market dynamics is essential.

For those looking to capitalize on the Inland Northwest’s thriving real estate scene, now is the time to explore opportunities, connect with local experts, and make informed decisions. As summer 2025 unfolds, the region offers a unique blend of adventure, relaxation, and investment potential—making it one of the most desirable places to live and invest in the Inland Northwest.

Aspen Homes: Building North Idaho Dreams

30 years of custom homes, lasting quality, and local roots

For more than thirty years, Aspen Homes and Development, LLC, has been turning visions into reality across North Idaho. Owned by Todd and Zetta Stam, this family-run business builds on a foundation of craftsmanship, trust, and a strong commitment to its community.

“Our journey as a builder in Kootenai County reflects continuous growth, innovation, and deeper community connection,” they share. “Our mission is simple: to build highquality, beautifully designed homes that align with the lifestyle and values of North Idaho families. That mission stays the same, but the way we bring it to life continues to evolve.”

Aspen Homes adheres to its core values of integrity, quality, and personal connection. Integrating new technologies, sustainable practices, and modern design, it prioritizes what matters most: listening to clients and creating homes that reflect their lifestyles.

Their commitment hasn’t gone unnoticed. Over the years, Aspen Homes has received multiple Parade of Homes and “Best Of” awards. “These recognitions are meaningful because they come from both industry peers and the community we serve,” the team shares. “We don’t build homes for awards— we build them for families—but being recognized for doing what we love reinforces that we’re on the right path.”

That dedication runs deep, especially in a company where family values shape every step

of the process. “When you work with Aspen Homes, you’re not just hiring a builder— you’re joining a family that truly cares about your experience from start to finish,” says the Stams. Their hands-on, accessible approach leads to lasting relationships, often continuing long after the final walkthrough.

In 2025, Aspen Homes is meeting the evolving expectations of modern homeowners by combining thoughtful design with cuttingedge innovation. Their approach includes flexible floor plans, integrated smart home technology, energy-efficient materials, and creative use of space while maintaining the craftsmanship and attention to detail they’re known for. Today’s clients are looking for homes that are not only beautiful but also practical and future-ready, and Aspen Homes continues to deliver on both fronts.

With strong roots in North Idaho, Aspen Homes remains actively involved in the community. Their support extends to local youth programs, nonprofit initiatives, and close collaboration with area trades. This sense of responsibility goes beyond business; it reflects their long-standing commitment to the region where they’ve built their lives and legacy.

Adventure CREATE YOUR OWN COEUR D’ALENE

BUILD YOUR PERFECT DAY

IN NORTH IDAHO’S

FAVORITE LAKE TOWN

In Coeur d’Alene, no two visits are the same. One person might start the day with a sunrise hike, while another grabs coffee and people watches downtown. Some jump straight into the lake, while others take their time exploring shops and galleries. The point is—this town gives you options, and every path leads to something worth remembering.

Start your day early with a walk-up to Tubbs Hill. Just steps from downtown, this 120-acre natural area offers peaceful forest trails, rocky overlooks, and views that make you stop mid-step. The 2.2mile loop is manageable for most visitors, and in the summer, you’ll spot people jumping off rocks into the water or tucking away in hidden coves for a swim. If you're the kind of traveler who likes to start with fresh air and lake views, this is your spot.

Not a hiker? No problem. Ease into your morning downtown with a stop at Moon Time, a neighborhood pub that opens for lunch but is beloved by locals any time of day. It's laid-back, reliable, and flavorful—whether you're craving a roasted corn pasta or a house-favorite lamb burger. Prefer something quick? Plenty of local coffee shops nearby serve up quality espresso and warm pastries.

When it’s time to get moving, you’ve got options. If the water’s calling, rent a paddleboard or kayak and head out onto Lake Coeur d’Alene. The lake is the city's centerpiece, stretching 25 miles and surrounded by forested hills. You can also book a boat tour if you’d rather let someone else do the steering. Don't feel like getting in the water? The beach at City Park is great for lounging, and the paved lakeside trail makes exploring the shoreline on foot easy.

If your style leans more toward arts and culture, downtown Coeur d’Alene offers plenty. Take your time browsing local galleries and shops. On the second Friday of the month, the Coeur d’Alene Art Walk invites visitors to explore original works by local and regional artists. Galleries like The Art Spirit and Blackwell Gallery feature rotating exhibits in a relaxed, walkable setting. You’ll find music, snacks, and friendly artists happy to chat about their work.

As the afternoon rolls into the evening, thoughts turn to food—and Coeur d’Alene delivers. If you’re in the mood for seafood, head to Fisherman’s Market. It’s a casual, no-fuss spot where you can build your seafood basket, order fresh poke bowls, or grab a classic fish and chips plate. There’s also a fresh fish counter if you want to take something home.

For something a bit more traditional, Angelo’s Ristorante offers classic Italian fare in a cozy setting. Handmade pasta, rich sauces, garlic bread, and a great wine list make it ideal for a slow-paced dinner. It’s a local favorite for a reason.

To keep the day going, catch golden hour from the road by driving along the Lake Coeur d’Alene Scenic Byway. The route follows the east side of the lake, curving past forested slopes and quiet coves. With the windows down and the sun dropping low, it’s one of the best ways to end a day in town.

Or maybe your pace is slower—grab a bench at City Park and watch the lights reflect on the lake. With the crowds gone and the water still, the quiet moment stays with you long after you leave.

However you decide to spend your time, Coeur d’Alene makes it feel just right. From lake adventures and scenic hikes to local art and family-run restaurants, every moment offers a new direction to explore.

Didn’t get to it all? That’s just one more reason to come back.

“Matt’s Place Foundation was born out of a deeply personal journey,” shares

Theresa Witlock-Wild, co-founder and Communications Director at Matt’s Place. “My husband, Matthew Wild, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, was diagnosed with ALS in February of 2015. He was 41 years old, and like many families, we had no idea what ALS was or what it would mean receiving a diagnosis like this.”

ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's disease) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease. As no cure or significant drug has been found to reduce the progressive nature of the disease, it is 100% terminal.

“Individuals affected by ALS progress at different rates, but the end result is always the same: losing the ability to move and becoming trapped inside their bodies, with no ability to walk, talk, eat or breathe,” Theresa shares. “Facing the immense challenges and the financial, emotional, and accessibilityrelated burdens that come with the disease, we knew we had to do something to help other families going through the same struggles.”

Matt’s Place began with a vision to provide fully accessible, technology-driven housing for ALS families, helping patients live with dignity and independence despite the progression of the disease, Theresa says. "Since our first home was built in Coeur d'Alene in 2017, then a second in Spokane, our work has expanded to offer partnerships, resources, and grants for mortgage/rental assistance, ramp and bathroom accessibility."

Families live in the Matt's Place homes free of charge to help offset the tremendous financial burden that is brought about by an ALS diagnosis.

"Our goal has always been more than just providing housing— we aim to create a network of support, ensuring no family faces ALS alone," Theresa says. “We believe that quality of life for the entire family should be the priority until there is a cure."

Since Matt's Place was founded, it has helped hundreds of ALS families by providing accessible housing equipped with cutting-edge technology. This technology allows patients to control their home's lighting, security, temperature, and more using their voice, tablet, or eye gaze, supporting enhanced independence and quality of life.

Every effort—big or small— moves us closer to a world where als families receive the dignity, support, and resources they deserve.

Matt's Place also provides grant funding and direct support to assist families struggling with the financial strain of ALS. "This disease is incredibly expensive," Theresa explains. "Families need accessible housing, an accessible vehicle, a wide range of durable medical and respiratory equipment, various medications, and additional caregiving support."

Creating a sense of community for ALS patients and families is another important focus of Matt's Place. "Through our outreach, events, and partnerships, we are trying to create a shared sense of responsibility," Theresa says. "This disease and others like it (such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's) are expected to increase by 70% by 2040, and will be considered the second leading cause of death. The impact on families, communities, and our healthcare system will be stretched beyond capacity soon, and we need to find better solutions in helping families navigate these challenges."

Theresa shares there is often no support or insurance coverage to help cover out-of-pocket expenses associated with ALS, leaving the responsibility to the family to navigate care costs and accessible housing.

“2025 will be a big year for Matt’s Place as we continue to expand our reach and impact to ensure more families receive the support they desperately need,” Theresa says, as they look to expand their housing nationwide. “Our vision is to have ALS-supportive housing in all 50 states. Imagine creating housing for families using better sustainability practices, including supporting better forestry management, solar, and energy-efficient design."

Matt's Place is currently working on its 3.0 multi-family housing complex in Spokane to showcase the creation of truly accessible housing for people of all disabilities. "This innovative design is scalable and can be manufactured and shipped anywhere in the country, " she says. "By looking at challenges affecting our housing developments, we hope to be game changers in building community for our most vulnerable citizens."

There are many ways to support Matt’s Place and help make a difference in the lives of ALS families, including donations, volunteering, event sponsorships, and spreading awareness. "Every effort—big or small—moves us closer to a world where ALS families receive the dignity, support, and resources they deserve," Theresa says.

For Matt's Place, the goal is to lighten the burden for families, ensuring that no one has to fight ALS alone. "ALS is a devastating disease, but it also brings out incredible resilience, love, and community support," shares Theresa. "We encourage everyone to take action—whether by donating, volunteering, or simply spreading the word—because every effort helps us create a better future for those living with ALS."

Moms in Prayer:

A Mother’s Faith Unleashed

Fern Nichols and the gospel that reaches millions

Publisher’s Note: This article offers an insider's and personal look at a global movement's humble start. As Margaret Mead said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." One mother's faith in Jesus casts a stone that rippled worldwide, proving Mother Teresa's words: "I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples."

Some movements are born on stages. Others begin on their knees. This one started with a whisper to God—and it never stopped echoing.

“God will take us to a place where we only have one option, and that’s to look up.”
—Fern Nichols

A Cry From the Kitchen Table

It didn’t begin with a ministry plan, donor base, or strategic blueprint.

It began with a mother’s prayers.

In 1984, at her kitchen table in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Fern Nichols felt an ache that many mothers know too well—an ache for her children’s future. Her two oldest sons, Tyrone and Troy, were heading into junior high school, and her heart was heavy with fear. She saw a spiritual battlefield ahead and knew she couldn’t shield them from it alone.

So she did what few dared to do in desperation—she looked up from her knees and prayed to God for insight, inspiration, and peace.

And then she picked up the phone.

“I called another mom,” Fern remembers. “I just said, ‘Will you pray with me for our children and their school?’ She said yes. That was all it took.”

Together, two moms began praying weekly—no coffee, no snacks, no small talk—just open Bibles, humble hearts, and the conviction that Jesus hears the prayers of mothers.

John 14:13-14 (ESV):

“Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.”

They prayed for their children, teachers, principals, classmates, coaches, and especially the school bus driver.

“We’re in a battle,” Fern said during our conversation, her voice still strong and resolute at 79. “So we pray with purpose— just like Jesus taught.”

From that quiet beginning, the ripples began.

“Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.”
-John 14:13-14 (ESV)

A Movement Was Born

A former teacher and veteran of 15 years with Campus Crusade for Christ alongside her husband, Rle, Fern knew the Gospel's power. With four children—Tyrone, Troy, Travis, and Trisha—her mission turned personal.

A single phone call between two moms soon became a global prayer movement. With Bibles open, they stormed heaven together. And from that one act of faith, a global movement was born: Moms in Prayer International. That movement is now active in every U.S. state and over 150 countries, under the leadership of President Sally Burke.

When the Nichols family relocated to Poway, California, the following year, the prayers continued and began to spread. Fern invited more moms. The groups multiplied. The burden was universal. The solution remained simple: no plan, no fundraising, no goals, just purposeful prayer.

Moms in Prayer is one hour weekly: praising God, confessing quietly, thanking Jesus, and praying for kids and schools—a beacon of hope turning fears to faith.

The Movement That Grew on Its Knees

By 1986, Fern had introduced a clear, repeatable structure that continues to define today's movement: Praying the Four Steps of Prayer.

• Praising God for who He is

• Silent confession to cleanse hearts

• Thanksgiving for what He’s done

• Intercession—for children, teachers, staff, and schools

This isn't a social hour or a parenting support group. It’s spiritual warfare.

“There’s a reason we don’t have snacks,” Fern says. “This isn’t about small talk. It’s about going to war in prayer.”

That spiritual clarity, combined with a reproducible format and deeply biblical roots, fueled the movement’s expansion. Word spread through churches and Christian radio.

The breakthrough came when Fern was interviewed on Focus on the Family with Dr. James Dobson, introducing Moms in Prayer to a national audience.

Suddenly, letters and phone calls poured in. Mothers across the country and around the world asked, “How can we start a group?”

Every single inquiry was answered. Focus on the Family mailed out booklets after the broadcast, while Fern personally responded to every letter she received.

“We’re not there for fellowship. We’re there to bring our children before the throne of grace.”
- Fern Nichols

A Structure Modeled After Jesus

Without an office, staff, or budget, she wrote resources, developed leader guides, and coached women across state and national borders. Her educational background and years serving with Campus Crusade for Christ gave her tools, but her faith fueled her.

Initially called “Moms In Touch,” the organization later changed its name to “Moms in Prayer International.”

A major part of Moms in Prayer’s lasting impact comes from its intentional structure, modeled after how Jesus taught His disciples to pray. Every meeting follows four clear, God-centered steps—designed to focus the heart and elevate faith.

Moms learn to pray not merely about their anxieties but through the lens of who God is—His holiness, mercy, sovereignty, and love. This Christcentered approach anchors each prayer in truth, removes distractions, and strengthens purpose.

“We’re not there for fellowship,” Fern says. “We’re there to bring our children before the throne of grace.”

God Will Take Us to a

Place

Over the years, Moms in Prayer faced resistance—skeptical school districts, financial strain, logistical obstacles—but Fern never thought of quitting.

“When things were hard,” she says, “God would remind me: I will take you to a place where your only option is to look up.”

And she did.

She clung to the promise of Matthew 19:26: “With God, all things are possible.”

And again and again, she saw God move—miraculous donations, divine connections, and moms finding each other in the most unexpected corners of the world.

“I just wanted my sons to know Jesus,” Fern says. “I never dreamed He would shake the world.”

A Global Call to Christ

Fern carried her cry worldwide, teaching moms to storm heaven. She recalls a Kenyan mother weeping, “Jesus heard me.” Fern’s books—Mom’s Little Book of Powerful Prayers and When Moms Pray Together: True Stories of God’s Power to Transform Your Child—share His answers. Her Bible study, Igniting a Passion to Pray, draws women to Him. “Moms want our kids in His love,” she writes.

Today, Moms in Prayer groups meet in more than 150 countries, and their resources are translated into over 60 languages. The mission continues to grow from Kenya to Korea, Poland to Peru.

At 79, Fern is still active in Moms in Prayer. She’s been married to her husband, Rle, for 58 years, and they have 10 grandchildren. Her life reflects the gentle humility and deep faith that started it all.

“I never said ‘me,’’ she says. “It’s always God. And the amazing women He called to walk this with me.”

Empowering the Praying Mom

If there’s one core message Fern wants every mom to know, it’s this: You don’t have to go at this alone.

Kindergarten or college, struggling or thriving— no matter the season your child is in, God calls you to stand in the gap. Moms in Prayer offers more than just a structure—it provides strength, support, and a circle of women who understand the power of prayer.

“I just wanted my sons to know Jesus,” Fern says. “I never dreamed He would shake the world.”

But He did—through one praying mother, another, and millions more.

A Legacy That Keeps Spreading

Today, the movement’s mission is as focused as ever: Moms in Prayer International impacts children and schools worldwide for Christ by gathering mothers to pray.

Its vision is bold: that every school in the world would be covered in prayer.

The purpose is simple, but profound:

• To stand in the gap for our children through prayer

• To pray that our children receive Jesus and walk boldly in faith

• To pray for teachers, coaches, and staff

• To pray that schools are guided by biblical values and moral truth

• To offer support to moms carrying heavy burdens

And it still begins the way it did in 1984—with a humble mother looking up and asking someone to pray with her.

“Little did we realize that ordinary moms, releasing God’s power through prayer, were about to birth a worldwide prayer movement.”

One Stone Across the Water

From a kitchen table in Canada to gatherings in every corner of the globe, Fern Nichols’ story reminds us that God often works through the available, not just the accomplished. She never sought a platform or a movement; she just wanted to protect her children.

And in that surrender, God wrote a bigger story.

Today, if you’re overwhelmed, unsure, or afraid for your child’s future, Fern’s journey reminds us: look up from your knees and ask God what He should have you do about it.

One hour a week. Four steps. Countless miracles.

“What God has done through this ministry,” Fern writes, “is living proof that He hears our prayers and responds.”

One hour a week.

Four steps.

Countless miracles.

Ready to begin your own ripple?

CROC COATINGS CONTINUES TO SHINE

Local business transforms homes and businesses in North Idaho and Spokane

Jim and Kelley Hobart began the next exciting chapter in their lives 15 years ago. Inspired by the beauty of North Idaho, the abundance of outdoor opportunities, and the friendly people, they moved into their custom home in Hayden in 2010.

Everything was more beautiful than they had imagined, except the epoxy flooring in the garage; after only a few years, it had faded, chipped, and peeled up in the areas where they parked their cars. “I looked for solutions and was told I would need to have it professionally ground off, and then they would re-apply a new epoxy floor,” recalls Jim. “I didn’t want to repeat using epoxy only to get the same results a few years later.”

He and Kelley discovered the Penntek evolution flooring system while visiting a relative—who raved about it! Jim contacted the manufacturer, Penntek Industrial Coatings, and discovered that no one offered their flooring system as an alternative to epoxy in North Idaho or Spokane. This inspired the Hobarts to change that. They introduced Croc Coatings in 2020, bringing this revolutionary flooring system to the area so that others could have a new choice with premium flooring solutions. Since then, they have installed over 1,000 Croc floors for residents and businesses.

“We started the business with a mission to provide extraordinary floors and service, and have grown as a result of delivering on this promise,” affirms Jim. “However, it’s not all about growth; it’s about serving a true need and delivering exceptional service to our customers.” This is reflected in the over 235 5-star Google reviews they have received.

Honoring the past, celebrating the present, and looking ahead with hope this Independence Day

Independence Day, observed each year on July 4, is more than a national holiday—it’s a tribute to the enduring spirit of freedom and the ideals that shaped the United States. It marks the anniversary of the nation’s bold declaration of independence in 1776, a moment that forever changed the course of history.

This cherished holiday is a time for reflection, gratitude, and celebration. It’s an opportunity to honor the sacrifices of those who fought for liberty, appreciate the freedoms we enjoy today, and reaffirm our collective commitment to the values that define America—democracy, unity, and opportunity.

Across the country, communities come alive with patriotic parades, dazzling fireworks, and heartfelt ceremonies. Families and friends gather for backyard barbecues, picnics, and concerts, sharing in the joy of traditions that bring people together. For those looking to connect with history, visits to landmarks, museums, and memorials offer a chance to reflect on the nation’s journey. Engaging in volunteer efforts or supporting local events can also be a meaningful way to celebrate the holiday while strengthening the community.

Whether enjoying time-honored traditions or starting new ones, Independence Day is a powerful reminder of the resilience and unity that define the American spirit. It’s a day to celebrate our nation’s past, embrace its present, and inspire hope for the future.

Radiant Living:

THE CONNECTION BETWEEN BEAUTY AND WELL-BEING

Unlocking the secrets to health, confidence, and natural glow

Beauty is more than skin deep—it reflects overall well-being. The link between aesthetics and health goes beyond physical appearance, encompassing mental, emotional, and physiological factors. True beauty emerges when individuals nurture their bodies from within, fostering a harmonious balance between health and aesthetics. By adopting holistic wellness practices, individuals can achieve a radiant appearance and a more fulfilling and confident life.

Aesthetics, in the context of health and beauty, refers to an individual's visual appeal, including skin quality, hair vitality, body composition, and overall radiance. However, true aesthetics are deeply intertwined with internal health. Scientific studies have shown that well-nourished bodies exhibit healthier skin, stronger hair, and a vibrant glow. Personal perception of appearance also influences confidence and self-esteem, playing a vital role in mental well-being.

According to dermatologists and wellness experts, factors such as hydration, proper nutrition, physical activity, and making healthier lifestyle choices significantly impact how people look and feel. A holistic approach to aesthetics focuses on external appearance and the internal processes that sustain it.

A well-balanced diet is a cornerstone of beauty and health. Essential nutrients work at the cellular level to support skin elasticity, hair strength, and overall vitality. The following key nutrients contribute to enhanced aesthetics:

• Vitamin C: Supports collagen production, promoting firm and youthful skin (found in citrus fruits, bell peppers, and strawberries).

• Vitamin E: Acts as an antioxidant, protecting skin from environmental damage (found in nuts, seeds, and avocados).

• Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Improve skin hydration and reduce inflammation (found in fatty fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts).

• Biotin: Strengthens hair and nails (found in eggs, almonds, and sweet potatoes).

• Zinc: Aids in skin repair and reduces acne (found in pumpkin seeds, lentils, and beef).

Incorporating nutrient-dense foods into daily meals can significantly enhance one's natural beauty while promoting longterm health.

Exercise is also essential for maintaining overall health and improving physical aesthetics. Regular physical activity enhances circulation, delivering oxygen and nutrients to skin cells, contributing to a youthful and glowing complexion. Additionally, movement supports muscle tone and posture, which affect appearance.

Recommended exercises for health and beauty include:

• Yoga: Reduces stress and promotes flexibility, which enhances posture and skin clarity.

• Strength Training: Builds lean muscle, creating a sculpted and toned appearance.

• Cardiovascular Exercise: Boosts blood flow, oxygenating skin and promoting a natural glow.

Sun-Kissed Skin Care Reset

This summer, refresh your skin and maintain a healthy glow with a simple exfoliation and hydration routine. It helps remove dead skin, soothes sun exposure, and keeps your complexion smooth and radiant.

Ingredients:

• 2 tablespoons sugar

• 1 tablespoon coconut oil

• Aloe vera gel or lightweight moisturizer

• Daily SPF

Instructions:

1. Mix sugar and coconut oil into a gentle scrub.

2. Massage onto damp skin once or twice a week, then rinse.

3. Apply aloe vera or moisturizer after exfoliating.

4. Finish with SPF every morning.

5. Glow all summer with soft, sun-protected skin!

By integrating movement into daily life, individuals can maintain a healthy physique while enhancing their natural aesthetics.

Emotional health also significantly influences physical beauty. Chronic stress, anxiety, and lack of sleep can contribute to premature aging, dull skin, and breakouts. Prioritizing mental well-being fosters a balanced and radiant appearance.

Effective practices for emotional balance include:

• Mindfulness and Meditation: Reduces stress hormones that contribute to skin inflammation.

• Deep Breathing Exercises: Enhances oxygen circulation, which benefits skin clarity.

• Adequate Sleep: Supports cellular repair, preventing signs of aging.

• Self-Care Rituals: Journaling, aromatherapy, or spa treatments can enhance relaxation and inner peace.

The body naturally reflects vitality and beauty when the mind is at ease.

Skincare goes beyond aesthetics to reflect internal well-being. A healthy skin barrier protects against environmental aggressors, prevents premature aging, and maintains hydration. A well-rounded skincare routine should emphasize nourishment and protection.

Key skincare practices include:

• Using Gentle Cleansers: Preserves the skin’s natural oils and maintains a healthy microbiome.

• Applying Sunscreen Daily: Shields against the UV damage that accelerates aging.

• Choosing Clean Beauty Products: Opting for chemical-free, natural skincare reduces exposure to harmful ingredients.

• Hydrating Regularly: Moisturizers with hyaluronic acid help maintain skin’s elasticity.

A thoughtful skincare regimen and a nutrient-rich diet ensure skin remains vibrant and resilient.

Hydration is a fundamental element of health and beauty. Water is essential for flushing out toxins, maintaining skin elasticity, and preventing dryness. Dehydration can lead to dullness, fine lines, and a lackluster complexion.

To maintain optimal hydration levels:

• Drink at least eight glasses of water daily.

• Consume hydrating foods like cucumbers, watermelon, and celery.

• Limit dehydrating beverages such as caffeine and alcohol.

• Use hydrating skincare products to lock in moisture.

Individuals can enhance their skin’s natural radiance and overall vitality by prioritizing hydration.

True beauty emerges from a synergy between aesthetics and wellbeing. Individuals can achieve a radiant and healthy appearance by embracing a holistic lifestyle that includes proper nutrition, physical activity, mental wellness, and skincare. Beauty is only simply about external features—it is a reflection of internal health and selfcare choices. With this knowledge, it becomes an intentional and rewarding choice to prioritize complete health, embrace your natural beauty, and cultivate habits that enhance both wellness and aesthetics.

Beeracuda Boat Rentals & Wheels-n-Waves Bring the Best to North Idaho

Locally owned and passion-driven, making lake life unforgettable

Summer in North Idaho is more than just a season; it’s a lifestyle. With its glassy lakes, endless sunshine, and mountain backdrops, it’s no wonder locals and visitors alike seek every opportunity to get outside and make the most of it. Chasing thrill or chill? The lake is calling—and thanks to Beeracuda Boat Rentals and Wheels-n-Waves, answering that call has never been easier (or more fun).

These two businesses, owned by Sandpoint locals Jon and Tone Stolz, have become staples for North Idaho’s summer seekers. What began as a creative side hustle quickly turned into something much bigger. “You could say I stumbled into the boating industry,” Jon says. “When I moved back to Sandpoint and realized a need for more rental options, an old buddy and I started renting out our personal boats. It was kind of like a boat version of Airbnb.”

What started as a side gig has grown into Beeracuda Boat Rentals, a thriving operation based out of Dover Bay Resort. Its fleet of 11 boats is built for every kind of lake day, from laid-back lounging to water-sport adventures. When their original partner retired in 2022, Jon and Tone took over the business entirely and expanded it to meet growing demand.

“We pride ourselves on offering a diverse fleet of pontoon boats,” Jon says. The lineup includes high-performance tritoons with 150–200 HP Mercury engines, Bluetooth stereos, ski poles, Bimini tops, and

even boats with built-in slides. “Whether you want to cruise, play, or do a little of both, we’ve got you covered,” he adds.

That personalized experience is part of what makes Beeracuda stand out. Friendly, knowledgeable team members guide renters through the process, starting with Jon’s sister-in-law, Tanjee Ferguson, who helps match customers to their ideal boat. Once on-site, staff like Laura and Clayton Laude or Sidney Brown handle orientation and safety overviews, ensuring every guest is confident and ready to hit the water.

And they don’t stop at Dover Bay. Beeracuda offers boat delivery within 150 miles, including Hayden Lake, Spirit Lake, and Priest Lake, with further delivery options available upon request. Extras like towable tubes, lily pads, water skis, and stocked with ice coolers are available to elevate the experience even more!

“All of our boats come equipped with Bluetooth sound systems so you can set the perfect vibe for your day,” Jon adds. “We treat each customer like family because we want them to have an unforgettable day on the lake.”

That same customer-first mindset inspired the launch of Wheels-nWaves, a pontoon dealership based in Sagle. Here, boat lovers can go from renting to owning—literally. The businesses work together to offer a “rent-to-buy” experience, allowing customers to test the exact

boat model through Beeracuda Boat Rentals before deciding to purchase through Wheels-n-Waves.

“If someone falls in love with the boat they rented, we can help them buy that exact model,” says Jon. “There’s nothing better than knowing exactly what you’re getting—and knowing you already love it.”

Wheels-n-Waves is the exclusive regional dealer for Aloha Pontoons, a family-owned brand that has been building innovative boats since 1960. “They’re known for their solid construction and unique designs, like being one of the first to introduce the upper sundeck on a pontoon,” shares Jon. The dealership also carries EZ Loader Trailers, PUD Pro Trailers and Edge Aluminum Boats, giving buyers various quality options.

From layout selection and upgrades to financing and delivery, Jon and his team are with customers every step of the way and remain available for support long after the sale. “It’s not just about selling a boat,” Jon says. “It’s about building relationships and keeping people on the water for years to come.”

For Jon and Tone, it's all about community and connection. “We love this place and the people in it,” they share. “Being able to share these lakes and help others create their own memories out here—that’s what makes it all worth it.”

To book your next lake adventure or explore boat ownership, visit BeeracudaBoatRentals.com or stop by Wheels-n-Waves at 43 Algoma Place in Sagle, Idaho.

Bringing Your Perfect Landscape to Life DreamScapes

“We’ve loved working with DreamScapes. After a major remodel, our front yard didn’t match the property, and we wanted a low-maintenance design for the front. Ira brought creative ideas to our planning meetings—many we hadn’t considered!

A highlight was shopping with Ira for water features, a stone bridge, and “statement boulders.” His knowledge of stone yards was impressive, and he offered great preselected options while considering our preferences. The natural pillar and bowl water feature he designed now greets guests as they arrive.

Ira also took us to nurseries, where his expertise made plant, grass, and tree decisions stress-free and enjoyable.

Ira and his team were fantastic, staying with the project to completion and ensuring we were satisfied. They replaced a wall, created beautiful meandering paver walkways, handled lighting design and installation, and improved our irrigation system with individual drip sprinklers for every plant.

Our neighbors love the landscape, and we highly recommend DreamScapes to anyone lucky enough to work with them!”
