The holiday season is here, filling our homes with twinkling lights, familiar melodies, and the comforting traditions that make this time of year so magical. For many of us, the holidays are a chance to recapture the wonder we felt as children—whether it’s the sparkle of festive lights, the aroma of freshly baked cookies, or family traditions passed down through generations.
This year feels especially meaningful for our family—it’s our baby boy’s first Christmas. I can’t wait to see the twinkle in his eyes and to start new traditions with him. Growing up, one of my favorite festivities was wearing matching pajamas on Christmas Eve—a small tradition that filled our hearts with joy—well, maybe not my brother and dad, but us girls loved it and still do!

Brock and I have kept some cherished traditions alive: piecing together a holiday puzzle, adding a yearly ornament that celebrates each chapter of our now family of three, and celebrating “Cousin Christmas” with my cousins and their families.
At the heart of it all, I remember the true reason for the season: celebrating the birth of Jesus, our Savior, whose love brings immeasurable hope and joy to our family.
This month’s issue celebrates the spirit of giving—the kind that strengthens our city and connects us to one another.
At Arvest Bank, giving back is a year-round mission. From community investments to volunteer hours, Arvest shows how businesses can be a force for good, building a stronger Tulsa for everyone.
That same sense of purpose is alive at Nuance Music Studio, where music becomes a bridge between art, family, and community.
You’ll also discover local nonprofits making a real difference every day—from supporting families and children to empowering individuals to thrive. And if you’re looking to make memories of your own, we’ve rounded up magical holiday destinations that capture the wonder of the season, from Castle Christmas in Muskogee to light-filled adventures across the Ozarks and beyond.
The holidays can also be difficult for those who are grieving, lonely, or in need. Let’s come together to show kindness—through donations, volunteering, or checking in on a neighbor—because every act of generosity makes a difference.
From our family to yours, may the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ bring you hope, joy, and peace this holiday season, and make every moment with your loved ones even more special.
Happy Holidays and God Bless,

The holiday season is a time when generosity shines brightest, but for Arvest Bank, giving back is a year-round commitment. This dedication is woven into the company’s culture, strategy, and mission. As businesses across Tulsa close out 2025, Arvest reminds us that giving is not only good for the community but also good for business. “A thriving community requires a thriving bank,” says Mark Stephen, President of Arvest Bank in Tulsa. “We see ourselves as a community growth engine.” That means investing in people, infrastructure, and opportunities that make Tulsa stronger.

“Helping small business owners live out their dreams is part of who we are.”
With over two decades in Tulsa and a career rooted in finance, Mark has witnessed how strategic community involvement can transform a city. When Arvest invests in local projects or small businesses, it helps build the foundation for long-term growth and resilience. “Those are the kinds of investments that move communities,” Mark explains. They create jobs, expand access, and open doors that might have otherwise stayed closed. The bank has long supported Arvest Winterfest, a downtown tradition that brings families together to celebrate the city’s holiday spirit. Arvest also secured naming rights for Tulsa’s convention center, a first-class facility that draws concerts, conferences, and major events downtown. “When we invest in local experiences or key infrastructure, we are not just supporting an event or a building,” Mark says. “We are investing in what makes Tulsa a great place to live, work, and visit.”
Beyond large-scale investments, Arvest’s generosity flows through the Arvest Foundation, which provides grants to nonprofit organizations that strengthen the region. From educational programs and youth development to the arts and economic empowerment, the Arvest Foundation creates lasting impact. “We want to back organizations that solve real problems,” Mark says. “The ones that create momentum and inspire others to give back too.” That culture of generosity is also lived out by Arvest associates. Volunteerism is a cornerstone of the company’s identity, and in 2024 alone, 156 Tulsa associates volunteered a total of 2,564 hours. Associates are often found reading to students, mentoring small business owners, or serving meals at local shelters. “When associates see that their work contributes to something bigger, it deepens their engagement and connects them to a meaningful mission,” Mark shares.

Arvest’s commitment to creating opportunity extends beyond philanthropy. Through the Arvest Opportunity Fund, a wholly owned non-bank subsidiary of Arvest, the bank helps small business owners access capital when traditional financing may be out of reach. The fund offers flexible support for entrepreneurs who might otherwise be overlooked by conventional lending systems. “Helping small business owners live out their dreams is part of who we are,” Mark says. Whether a startup or a family-owned business looking to expand, these investments strengthen local economies and create ripple effects. Financial empowerment is another key part of Arvest’s mission through the EmpowerED program, which offers free financial education resources designed to help individuals make informed decisions. “A financially healthy community is a thriving community,” Mark notes. When people understand how to manage their finances, they are better equipped to pursue their goals and support others.
While Mark leads efforts at the community level for the bank, Arvest Wealth Management Regional Manager Eric Shepard and his team focus on helping individuals and families understand how charitable giving can fit into their personal financial strategies. Arvest Wealth Management works with clients to build purposeful giving plans that align with both their

values and their long-term goals. “Charitable giving is not just about writing a check at the end of the year,” Eric says. “When done strategically, it can maximize tax advantages, help avoid capital gains, and most importantly, connect wealth to values.” The wealth management team often guides clients in using tools like donor-advised funds, charitable trusts, and private foundations to help their generosity go further. “People find enrichment in non-financial ways, knowing their wealth is making a difference and reflects their beliefs,” Eric adds. “Philanthropy allows them to answer the question: What do I want my wealth to stand for?” Both Mark and Eric agree that giving, whether through volunteer hours, partnerships,
or financial contributions, creates a ripple effect that benefits everyone. Businesses that give back foster trust, attract loyal customers, and build stronger teams. Communities that receive that support thrive, generating new opportunities and a greater sense of shared purpose.
As Arvest looks ahead, its mission remains rooted in people helping people find financial solutions for life. “We are excited about where we are and how we can continue expanding our efforts,” Mark says. “Being a community growth engine is about more than banking. It is about taking care of the community that takes care of us.” When generosity becomes part of how we do business, entire communities grow stronger together.

WHE RE MUSIC BECOMES CONNECTION

“TECHNOLOGY MOVES THE WORLD FORWARD, BUT ART TEACHES US HOW TO FEEL AND HOW TO BE HUMAN.”
— DR. MILTON FERNANDEZ

Nuance Music Studio is not simply a place where lessons are given—it is a space where music is lived, shared, and experienced as a transformative force. Co-founded by Dr. Milton Fernandez, his mother Dr. Farida Peña, and his wife Sarah Fernandez, the studio carries forward a family legacy that began more than 40 years ago in the Dominican Republic. Dr. Fernandez’s grandmother founded one of the Caribbean’s most prestigious music academies, planting the seeds of a mission that continues today in Tulsa: to inspire a lifelong love of music through intentional, heart-centered education.
For the team at Nuance, music is far more than a technical skill. It is a way of shaping character, strengthening relationships, and forming community. “Technology moves the world forward,” says Dr. Fernandez, “but art teaches us how to feel and how to be human.” In an era where arts programs often face cuts, Nuance stands as a testament to the profound role music plays in emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and human connection.
The leadership structure of Nuance reflects that philosophy of harmony and collaboration. Described by Dr. Fernandez as a “three-legged stool,” each director brings a vital area of expertise. Dr. Milton Fernandez, an active performer on both national and international stages, serves as the artistic visionary— guiding students through the deeper expressive layers of music and helping them uncover their authentic musical voice. Sarah Fernandez, who holds a master’s degree in analytics and works professionally as a data scientist, manages administration, marketing, and operations with clarity and precision, blending her analytical background with a deep appreciation for creativity and community-building. Dr. Farida Peña, who holds both an M.D. and a master’s in music education, leads teacher training and Kindermusik development. A licensed Kindermusik educator since 2002, she also serves on the program development team at Kindermusik International, where she helps shape curriculum and train educators around the world. Together, they have built a studio where students—from toddlers to advanced adults—can grow through every stage of their musical journey.

The decision to open the studio in Tulsa was rooted in a search for community. After experiences in both Oregon and North Carolina, the family was drawn to Tulsa’s authentic commitment to the arts and its culture of mutual support. “Tulsa welcomed us before we even arrived,” Sarah recalls. “People weren’t just polite—they were excited to connect us, collaborate with us, and grow something together.”
This spirit of connection is especially evident during the holiday season, a time when music carries deep emotional resonance. Instead of the typical high-pressure Christmas recital, Nuance takes a different approach—one centered on joy, presence, and togetherness. They host relaxed gatherings where students share music with one another, sip hot cocoa, decorate a community pine tree, and experience music as a celebration rather than a performance. The formal recital is intentionally scheduled for after the holidays, allowing families to enjoy the season without added stress.
“We want the holidays to deepen connections, not deplete them,” says Dr. Fernandez. This perspective is woven into every aspect of the studio’s culture, where music is used not only to develop skill but to build confidence and strengthen family bonds.
As Nuance looks to the future, its vision extends beyond its walls. Dr. Fernandez hopes to help establish Tulsa as a national hub for the arts—where music is not just taught but shared as a vital part of community life. “There were many people who helped me become who I am,” he reflects. “Now it’s my responsibility to continue that thread.”
In a fast-paced world, Nuance Music Studio offers something significant: a reminder that music is not just something we perform—it is something we experience together, shaping who we are and how we connect.
Nuance Music Studio offers lessons for all ages in piano, voice, guitar, Kindermusik early childhood programs, and more. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced musician, their team provides heart-centered instruction tailored to your goals.

“The holidays remind us that generosity isn’t about the size of a gift, but the heart behind it. Whether you give time, resources, or encouragement, your kindness creates ripples of hope. This season, support a local nonprofit and discover that giving truly is the greatest gift of all.”
As the holidays draw near, our hearts turn toward gratitude, family, and the joy of giving. But beyond the gifts wrapped beneath twinkling trees lies a deeper kind of generosity — one that strengthens our community and changes lives. The true spirit of the season shines brightest when we give not just to those we know, but to those who need it most.
Local nonprofits are at the heart of this giving spirit. Throughout the year — and especially during the holidays — these organizations serve families facing hunger, provide warmth to those without shelter, and offer hope to individuals navigating hardship. Their work reminds us that generosity isn’t measured by the size of a donation, but by the love and compassion behind it. Supporting local nonprofits can take many forms: volunteering time, donating funds, or simply spreading awareness of their missions. Every small act matters. A shared meal, a toy for a child, or a few hours spent serving others can ripple through the community in powerful ways. These moments of kindness knit us together, reminding us that we’re part of something bigger than ourselves.
This December, consider giving the kind of gift that can’t be wrapped — the gift of impact. Partner with a local charity, involve your children in acts of service, or choose to support an organization that speaks to your heart. In doing so, you’ll not only brighten someone else’s season, but you’ll also discover that giving has a way of giving back.
When we lift one another up, we celebrate the truest meaning of the holidays: love in action. This year, let’s keep that light shining — in our homes, in our hearts, and throughout our community.
