The Thread Between Fashion and Home

Style isn’t just something you wear—it’s something you live. It’s in the pieces you collect, the textures you’re drawn to, and the way you move through your space. The same instinct that draws someone to a sharp blazer or a timeless watch also shapes how they design their home—down to the details, from the front door to the furniture.

This fall, we’re looking at style through a broader lens: not just what you put on in the morning, but what surrounds you when you walk through the door at night. That seamless connection between wardrobe and living space is clearer than ever—and it starts with intention.

For some, it’s a well-worn watch passed down from a grandfather. For others, it’s the quiet presence of a handcrafted iron door that makes every entrance feel grounded and memorable. At My Iron Door Company, each piece—whether it’s a grand entry door, accordion-style patio opening, or custom interior feature—is designed to do more than fill a space. It tells a story. It reflects a lifestyle. The same is true of the vintage watches curated by Myranda Fine Jewelry, where legacy, precision, and design converge in a way that feels deeply personal.

As Myranda puts it, “A great watch doesn’t just tell time—it tells your time.” And when every element in your life is chosen with care, that kind of style—quiet, intentional, and lasting—becomes part of who you are. Because style is more than a statement—it’s a sense of self.

TIME WELL-SPENT

From classic to bold—build a watch collection with intention.

When it comes to personal style, details matter— and few pieces make a statement like a great watch. Whether you’re stepping into a meeting, heading out for the weekend, or simply dressing for yourself, the right timepiece doesn’t just complement your outfit—it defines it.

Watches today are more than functional. They’re fashion-forward, confidence-boosting, and deeply personal. From the timeless edge of a Rolex to the bold precision of a Breitling, a well-chosen watch doesn’t just elevate your look—it becomes part of your story.

For many men, collecting watches becomes less about trends and more about intention. A vintage piece that nods to your first big promotion. A sport watch that’s traveled the world with you. A dress watch passed down or saved for something worth celebrating. The beauty of collecting is that each piece marks a chapter.

If you’re refining your collection—or mentoring someone through theirs—here are four thoughtful tips to guide the journey:

1. Think legacy. A well-kept timepiece isn’t just personal—it’s generational. Consider what you’ll pass down and what you want it to say.

2. Curate, don’t accumulate. It’s not about quantity. It’s about the right pieces for the right occasions—and the life you’re living now.

3. Don’t overlook serviceability. A rare piece is only valuable if it can be maintained. Stick with brands and models that are built to last—and be repaired.

4. Wear them. The true joy of collecting comes not from storing them in safes—but in letting them collect memories right alongside you.

In the East Valley, Myranda Fine Jewelry has become a trusted resource for men who view watches as part of a refined lifestyle. With access to timepieces from around the world—including Rolex, Breitling, and other legacy makers— Myranda curates each piece with craftsmanship, heritage, and long-term value in mind.

A great watch doesn’t just tell time—it tells  your  time. And if you’re choosing carefully, it’ll keep telling it for decades to come.

“I love the design—it transforms the look, increases value, and adds a layer of security.”

When approaching a house, one of the first features to capture your attention is its entryway—particularly the front door. However, in the realm of luxury homes, even those adorned with extravagant details, finding a door that truly makes a grand statement can be a challenge. This is where Troy Jarvis, owner of My Iron Door Company, comes in. After years in the residential construction and real estate industries, he’s now focused on this new venture.

“For me, it’s all about working for myself—building and creating businesses. My dad was an entrepreneur; he had an insurance company back in Missouri, and it just put a passion inside of me. I always wanted to work for myself, creating my own thing.”

Troy knows his way around real estate and construction. Right out of college, he was recruited onto one of the top RE/MAX real estate teams in Chicago, where they closed over 100 transactions a year. Eventually, he returned to the West. Originally born in Mesa, he gravitated back to the Phoenix metro area, purchasing lots in upscale Scottsdale golf communities such as Mirabel, Ancala, and Firerock. He began working with builders to create custom homes and later expanded into the St. George and Park City, Utah markets.

In 2008, Troy pivoted his business plan toward fixing and flipping homes.

“I found that installing an iron door and opening up the back patio with a larger slider or accordion door— added instant value—especially with Arizona’s indoor/

outdoor lifestyle. This became my signature “flip” style. Most of my flips were in the Scottsdale Kierland area and Tempe.”

“I had an opportunity to invest in an iron door company out of St. George and purchased about 100 doors. I eventually closed that business and started My Iron Door Company. As a contractor, I hated how long it took to get iron doors—especially with no guaranteed delivery date. I’m the only iron door company I know of that gives a 120-day guarantee from the time of deposit to installation. It’s nice to know exactly when your door will be delivered, especially when you're on a timeline.”

To make things easier for clients, the company offers complete installation services, including door removal, drywall and trim repair, and painting.

“Homeowners aren’t choosing wood or fiberglass doors as much anymore due to issues like splitting, cracking, and the need for frequent repainting.”

“One of the best reasons people are purchasing iron doors is for security. Instead of putting a screen on the front door, these iron doors are pretty much impossible to break into. There’s even an option for a door with a screen insert, so you can lock the door and still allow ventilation. For me, it’s about the design—I love that part. It changes the look, adds value, and improves security.”

Troy adds: “The industry is expanding. What’s nice about my company is that you can get everything— design, product, and installation—all in one place. It makes life simple for builders and homeowners.”

LIVING STYLE in

THE INTERSECTION OF FASHION AND HOME

INthis unexpected love affair, fashion and interiors are more than just a simple pairing—they are rooted in culture, creativity, and the human desire for self-expression.

As conscious consumers of the 21st century, participating in a retail landscape that is oversaturated and struggling to adapt to the ever-changing demands of the modern customer, our purchasing power should not only respond to a feeling of want but also prioritize items that reflect who we are and who we aspire to be. This is clearly visible through the representation of fashion and interiors.

Although we tend to consider cost-per-wear primarily when it comes to clothing, this same

principle applies to furniture and the function it brings to the home. Aesthetics and functionality both play a role in this pairing, painting a picture for the rest of the world of who the wearer is and how they live in their space.

The woman who wears a blazer with sharp shoulders that makes her feel powerful in her everyday life—or the black dress that gives her a necessary boost of confidence—may naturally gravitate toward sleek, modern furniture that feels equally strong and elevates the space where the modern woman thrives.

In the same way, someone who prefers an effortless ensemble—like their favorite white T-shirt and comfortable denim

jeans—may also look for home pieces that are functional and make their guests feel at ease. Even a handmade rug, one that sparks conversation about where it was found and adds a focal point to a room, mirrors how we search our closets for a sweater tied to a cherished memory.

Just as we carefully choose outfits to express ourselves, it’s equally important to ensure that our living spaces are designed with the same intention. More than ever, modern buyers are making purchasing decisions based on personal morals and values, forming a new wave of consumers who seek products that are both high-quality and environmentally or socially conscious, whether for themselves or their homes.

The following imagery affirms that living a timeless lifestyle across all aspects of life is possible through the thoughtful styling of sustainable clothing and vintage furniture. As the modern retail landscape continues to evolve, it’s become increasingly vital to make conscious consumer choices—ones that allow us to express our truest selves through both our wardrobes and the places we call home.

OLD WALL, NEW TRICKS

HANG UP THE OLD WAY AND TRY A GALLERY WALL HANGING SYSTEM IN YOUR HOME.

One of my happy places is sitting in front of a museum wall gallery. I can admire art for hours, and if I’m with a friend, there’s no telling how long we’ll sit, reflect, and share our individual perspectives. If you’ve admired gallery wall displays in magazines, catalogs, or on social media and would like to create one in your home, it’s much easier than you might think.

DESIGNING YOUR GALLERY WALL

The first step in creating a gallery wall is planning. Start by selecting a theme or color scheme that complements your space. Themes can be as varied as black-and-white photographs, abstract paintings, or a mix of personal and artistic prints.

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED:

• A gallery wall hanging system, which typically includes mounting rails, cables or rods, and hooks. You can find them pretty much anywhere, online or at your local home improvement store.

• A collection of frames and artwork.

• A level, measuring tape, and perhaps a laser pointer for precision.

CREATIVE ARRANGEMENTS

• The arrangement of your gallery wall can follow several patterns, depending on your taste:

• Linear: Artworks are hung in a straight line at eye level, creating a clean and orderly appearance.

• Grid: Perfect for a collection of similarly sized frames, this layout emphasizes structure and uniformity.

• Salon Style: This more traditional arrangement involves layering pieces closely together, often extending across the wall. It’s ideal for creating a rich, filled look.

INSTALLATION TIPS:

01 MEASURE YOUR SPACE:

Carefully measure the wall space where you want to install the gallery. Consider the height and width available, keeping in mind furniture and other room features.

02 LAY IT OUT:

Arrange your artwork on the floor to finalize your layout. This “dry run” is crucial to get a feel for how the pieces will interact with one another. I like to use painter’s tape to create a visual of what my display will look like on the walls.

03 INSTALL THE RAILS AND HANG YOUR ART:

Following the manufacturer’s instructions, mount the rails at the top of your wall. Ensure they are level and securely attached. Attach cables or rods to the rails, then use hooks to hang your frames. The beauty of the system is that you can adjust the height and position easily.

04 BALANCE AND SYMMETRY:

Step back to view your layout from different angles. Adjust the spacing and alignment as needed to achieve visual balance.
