CHARCUTERIE ARTIST AUSTYN BURGAMY TRANSFORMS FRESH, ORGANIC INGREDIENTS INTO VIBRANT EDIBLE ART THAT BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER AND SPARKS CONVERSATION.
Some see a charcuterie board as snacks on a slab. Austyn Burgamy sees it as edible art, layered with color, texture, and intention. Every board is a composition, a balance of flavor and beauty designed to draw people in before they even take a bite.
“I’VE
“I love styling fruit and doing intricate designs on strawberries, grapes, and blueberries,” she says. “I think of my boards as edible art. I take a lot of time curating them, and it shows.”
She has a few tried-and-true rules that guide every creation. Use crisp
“I love any excuse to throw a party,” Austyn says with an easy smile that makes you feel instantly welcome. “Food brings people together. That’s what inspires everything I do.”
Launched in August 2023, Austyntatious Kitchen was born from Austyn’s love for hosting and entertaining. She wanted a brand that reflects her Texas roots, her devotion to family and friends, and her passion for creating food that is as gorgeous as it is delicious. For Austyn, preparation is just as important as presentation. It is about thoughtfulness, care, and crafting an experience her guests will remember.
While anyone can pick up cheese and crackers, Austyn elevates the experience with carefully curated, top tier organic ingredients and striking styling. Every cluster of fruit is arranged for visual balance. Each slice of meat is folded with intention. Fresh herbs are not just decoration but a fragrant, flavorful element that ties the whole board together.
green grapes for vibrancy and freshness. Include at least three cheeses for variety and two types of meat for depth. Keep meats and sweets apart to avoid chocolate flavored salami. Play with texture, mixing soft cheeses with crunchy crackers and juicy fruit with rich spreads. And always finish with edible garnishes like basil, rosemary, thyme, or sage.
For Austyn, every board is a chance to make a statement. “I’ve never seen a person look sad while standing over a delicious plate of food,” she says.
Ask Austyn about her favorite creation, and her eyes light up. “It had three curated meats and six cheeses. The bright purples, deep reds, and blueberries made it so eye catching. I even used peppered salami and spicy chorizo. It was colorful, flavorful, and just felt magical.” She remembers how guests kept circling back for another bite and how the board became the centerpiece of the evening.
If there is one misconception she wants to correct, it is the idea that
charcuterie is just a fancier lunchable. “It’s more than that. Every ingredient is handpicked to pair perfectly, so every bite is an experience.”
Her boards often go far beyond cheese and meat. Seasonal grazing tables are a favorite, with Christmas, fall, and Halloween themes full of festive details. Think pumpkins, holly berries, sprigs of spruce, and treats that reflect the season. She loves the challenge of making each table thematic and cohesive so the display tells a story from one end to the other.
Her dream design? A Harry Potter grazing table on a long wooden table with floating candles overhead. She envisions golden plates, rich autumnal colors, whimsical desserts, and details straight out of the Great Hall. “I love a good theme. That one would be unforgettable.”
Austyn’s work has become a go-to for celebrations of all sizes, from intimate date nights to full-scale corporate events. She thrives on tailoring each order to fit the occasion, the guests, and the host’s vision. No two boards are ever exactly alike because no two gatherings are the same.
Charcuterie may be the centerpiece of Austyntatious Kitchen, but it is also about connection. Austyn loves seeing
“EVERY
guests gather around one of her boards, talking, laughing, and sampling new flavors together.
“I want people to feel joy when they eat my food,” she says. “It’s about making memories as much as it is about making a beautiful board.”
When she is not in the kitchen, Austyn is a former college cheerleader with a story that always gets a laugh. She once broke both arms at the same time, still has arthritis from it, and insists it was worth it because she had a blast.
She is also fully certified and licensed, ensuring every creation meets the highest standards of quality and safety. This professionalism, combined with her creativity and eye for detail, is what keeps her clients coming back.

FROM FISH AND CHIPS TO AFTERNOON TEA, THIS STONE OAK RESTAURANT DELIVERS AUTHENTIC BRITISH CUISINE.
ARTICLE BY ERIN LYONS
Many miles from England, The Old English Tea Shoppe in Stone Oak is brewing more than tea. They are creating a British culinary experience and a second home for their customers. Dr. Robb Kelly told me about coming to Texas from Manchester and why he wanted to offer a different dining option to Stone Oak.
Dr. Robb Kelly first came to the United States about 20 years ago to work as a
PHOTOGRAPHY BY AMERICA TRU
clinical psychologist specializing in addiction. Finding a British pub in Texas felt exciting until he stepped inside and saw no familiar foods, heard no familiar accents. That disappointment sparked the idea to open a British restaurant someday.
One day, he jokingly said to his sister, “Why don’t you come over and open an English tea shop?” The rest is history. Robb, his wife Janet, his sister Sandra, and her husband Peter are the ownership team that opened The Old English Tea Shoppe in November of 2023.
When you step into the restaurant on Stone Oak Parkway, all the food you
see, from the crisps on the shelves to the meals on your plate, comes straight from Britain. Everything they make is based on family recipes or local shops in Manchester.
Afternoon tea is very popular, served daily by reservation only. Your afternoon tea experience can be a birthday party, baby shower, or just a fun afternoon with friends. Tetley tea is highly featured at the shop, with 45 varieties served. Themes like Princesses or Harry Potter are available for children’s tea parties. They are hoping to host Bridgerton and Downton Abbey events in the near future.
“FROM MANCHESTER TO TEXAS, A CUP OF TEA FEELS LIKE HOME.”
If you are looking to order off the menu, fish and chips are their most popular item, followed by bangers and mash. Sausage rolls also fly off the shelves. “We can’t make enough of those,” Dr. Robb told me as he showed me around the restaurant. Beef Wellington is served once a month as a special event.
Not only is the food at The Old English Tea Shoppe all from Great Britain, but most of their hardworking and dedicated staff are as well. Many of them come from various parts of England and Scotland, and Dr. Robb told me that customers love it when they walk in and are greeted by
English staff. It makes the experience feel authentic from the start.
A lot of the people who visit The Old English Tea Shoppe are from Britain as well. The map on the wall marking visitors’ homes is evidence of that. It felt obvious to me as I walked around the shop that this place feels like a second home to its customers. In addition to the authentic food and British staff, they feel valued when they are there. Dr. Robb made sure his customers’ favorite soccer teams were represented on the wall. And when Scottish patrons were asking for Irn Bru, a popular carbonated soda in Scotland, they ordered cases of it and their customers
were thrilled. That feeling is reflected in the many teapots that decorate the restaurant, each one a gift from a customer. With some people driving regularly from Austin to visit the shop, Dr. Robb has hopes to franchise and open in other cities.
Dr. Robb told me that when he opened the shop, he wanted everyone to have an experience when they walked through the door. Now he says, “Everyone who comes in ends up smiling or laughing.” In a state known for doing everything big, The Old English Tea Shoppe reminds us that the smallest comforts, like a cup of tea, can make the biggest impacts.

Halloween is typically filled to the brim with salt, sugar and carbs. It can be hard to stay on the nutrition wagon during spooky season, but there are plenty of fun ways to add a festive spin to favorite healthy dishes.
With luck finding a melon or watermelon at the store, simply carve it like a jack-o-lantern and make the mouth large enough to have other sliced fruit emerging, such as cut pineapple, sliced grapes and apple chunks. Along the side, peel mini oranges and add a green stem to mimic pumpkins.
These fan favorite boards can easily be kept healthy with some additions. Make any treat spooky with edible eyeballs. Adding them to a small snack such as mini bell peppers or grapes and strawberries is a fun way to stay on theme without sacrificing a healthy streak. Eyeball salami rolls also can be added, starting first with a green olive in the center, surrounded by a roll of mozzarella cheese and then surrounded by salami or even prosciutto.
This fall staple easily can be incorporated into a fall gathering or Halloween night by carving jacko-lantern faces in orange peppers, and resuming a favorite recipe from there. Serving bread on the side? Use a skull or pumpkin shaped cookie cutter to re-shape it.
Hummus and pitas can be made scary in no time. Use a ghost shaped cookie cutter to shape pita bread, lightly toast and serve with red pepper hummus, which is usually orange in color.
The easiest bet for a quick and healthy Halloween treat? You can’t go wrong with a veggie tray shaped like a jack-o-lantern. Use baby carrots as the base, and cucumber or celery to shape the mouth and stem. The eyes? Two round bowls of veggie dip.
