LIFESTYLE LETTER
Naples Hospitality
October is one of our most delectable issues of the year, and this month we’re celebrating the food and drink that makes our city such a delight for the senses.
We had the privilege of sitting down with the teams of Blackbird Naples, Estia, Two Guys Catering, Limoncello, Sails Restaurant, Tito's Cantina and Lola 41 to learn all about their fall menu, brimming with seasonal ingredients and dishes designed to make your taste buds sing. You’re in for a treat, so get ready to savor every bite!

For me, the smells of fall bring back memories of sitting in my mom’s kitchen. The aroma of cinnamon, baked apples, pumpkin pies, and hearty soups fills me with nostalgia. Food has a unique way of connecting us to our past while bringing us together in the present. Whether you’re enjoying a meal out with friends or hosting a cozy dinner at home, these shared moments are what make life flavorful.
Here’s to savoring every bite this fall.

LIMONCELLO
A Love Story Served with the Flavors of the Amalfi Coast
Limoncello is more than a restaurant. It is the story of family, love, and the flavors of Italy’s Amalfi Coast.
Cosimo grew up in Positano, a seaside town where food and hospitality are a way of life. In 2011, while managing a hostel, he met Ashleigh, visiting from Illinois. Their connection was instant, and Ashleigh decided to extend her stay in Positano for the rest of the summer. What began as a summer romance quickly became something much bigger. When Ashleigh returned home, Cosimo soon followed, moving to America on December 27, a date now celebrated with our signature Twelve-Twentyseven cocktail.
After their first snowy winter together in Illinois, the couple moved to California, where Cosimo worked at an Italian restaurant in Santa Barbara. It was during this time that his passion for the culinary arts and the dream of owning a restaurant continued to grow.
In 2014, Cosimo and Ashleigh settled in Naples, Florida. Cosimo began his career here working on 5th Avenue, later at Baleen at La Playa, and eventually as General Manager at Burn by Rocky Patel in the Mercato. Through it all, his dream of owning a restaurant never faded.
That dream became reality in 2022, when Cosimo and Ashleigh purchased an existing restaurant and transformed it into Limoncello. Together, they poured their hearts into shaping the menu, atmosphere, and experience to reflect the warmth and beauty of the Amalfi Coast.
Today, along with their children Floriana and Vito, they welcome guests to enjoy authentic Italian dishes made with love, from fresh pasta and seafood to the traditional Italian classics. Every meal is a celebration of family and tradition, accompanied by live music in a lively and friendly atmosphere. They don’t just deliver great food and service, they create memories. ARTICLE
“EVERY MEAL IS A CELEBRATION OF FAMILY AND TRADITION, ACCOMPANIED BY LIVE MUSIC IN A LIVELY AND FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE.”

What’s your favorite date night spot and why?
Baleen. The sunset, ambience, service and food. I don’t think we’ve ever sat inside! Before moving to Naples, we vacationed here every year visiting my in-laws. A date at Baleen has been on our itinerary since 2001!
What’s your favorite special occasion restaurant and why?
Veranda E. We love sitting next to the pool with the retro floating swan and how Hotel Escalante is so quaint and clandestine…very charming.
What’s your favorite place to have a drink?
What is your go-to drink of choice at this place?
Le Colonial. It’s one of our favorite restaurants in Chicago and we were so excited for them to open in Naples! We had our second date there so it’s nostalgic, I just love the ambience. Smoked OldFashioned is our go-to :-) Espresso Martini at Warren…perfectly crafted and love the vibe. It feels like Chicago or NYC.

I moved from Brazil to Boston eight years ago, driven by a dream: to build a successful career in hospitality here in the U.S. Back home, I studied and worked in the industry—hotels, tour operators, travel experiences—it’s always been my passion. I’ve always believed that hospitality is about so much more than service; it’s about creating meaningful connections. I genuinely love making people feel special and helping them create memories that last. This industry gives me the chance to do just that every single day.
Lola 41 is more than just a restaurant—it’s a passport to global flavors. Inspired by the 41st parallel, which crosses countries like Japan, Spain, Morocco, and the U.S., our menu brings together diverse culinary traditions in creative, memorable ways. Every dish is crafted with fresh ingredients and bold flavors that reflect the cultures along that line of latitude. We began our journey in Nantucket, Massachusetts, and have since expanded to Boston, Palm Beach, and now Naples, Florida. Our Naples location has been part of the community for over a year, and it’s been incredible to see how warmly we’ve been welcomed. Each Lola offers a refined yet approachable dining experience in a vibrant, inviting space. Whether our guests are toasting to something special or just enjoying a night out, we want every visit to feel like a culinary escape—one they’ll want to come back to again and again.
What’s your favorite date night spot and why?
The Vine Room is definitely a favorite. I love the moody, intimate ambiance—it sets the perfect tone for a night out. The cocktails are creative and fun, and there’s just something about the vibe that makes the evening feel effortlessly special.
What are your top three places to take out-of-towners?
For me, it’s all about sharing the best of what Naples has to offer. I typically start with a sunset at Naples Pier, then head to Third Street South for excellent food and a vibrant atmosphere. To finish the evening, I like to stop for a cocktail on 5th Avenue, where there are plenty of great options and a lively yet sophisticated Restaurants and Bars.

My Name is Gabrielle, I am the Assistant General Manager at LoLa 41 in Naples and have been with the company since 2018. I have been a server, bartender and Events Manager for the company. I was lucky enough to get the chance to move to Naples, FL from our Boston, MA location and be on the opening team of what is now our 4th location to open. We are a very unique restaurant with a Concept that I have a huge passion for. Our Concept comes from our original restaurant based on Nantucket, Lola41. Lola 41 stands for Longitude and Latitude, on the 41st parallel which is what inspired our cuisine. Each dish on our menu is influenced by the countries that fall on the 41st parallel. You will see dishes from America, Korea, Italy, Japan and many other countries. With this menu, there is something for everyone whether you are interested in sushi, pasta, steak, or a burger with truffle fries. We have a super eclectic menu, and always say there is a little something for everyone!
What’s your favorite place to have a drink? What is your go-to drink of choice at this place?
I love the Syren for their Sunburn Cocktail, as I am a huge Tequila Reposado fan.
What has been your most memorable dining experience in Naples?
I had a girls’ night at Bicyclette, sat at the bar and had an amazing experience. The bartenders were personable and made fantastic drinks. They also have an open kitchen concept so to be able to experience the dishes being made was top notch, not to mention the plating, chef’s kiss.
Are there any particular chefs or restaurateurs whose work you admire?
Chef Pablo who used to be our previous executive Chef and took another position as Chef at The Collier House on Marco Island. He was not only creative, but also personable and has a true passion for the industry.

I was born and raised in Positano, Italy, in the heart of the Amalfi Coast, where I built my career in the hospitality industry. After meeting my future wife, we decided to move to the United States to raise our family and provide greater opportunities for our children. Our journey took us from her hometown in Illinois to California, and in 2014 we finally discovered our favorite place, Naples, Florida where we decided to settle.
Moving to a new country meant starting over, working my way up once again in the hospitality industry, carrying with me a dream: to one day own my own restaurant and share my passion for food, wine, and hospitality, while bringing a piece of my beloved Amalfi Coast to the United States.
In 2022, that dream became a reality when I took over an existing Italian restaurant and transformed it into what is now, Limoncello. Today, our restaurant offers authentic Italian cuisine in a setting designed to transport guests to the Amalfi Coast, complete with traditional flavors, elegant décor, live music, a lively atmosphere, and the warm, welcoming service that has always been at the heart of my journey.
What’s your favorite date night spot and why?
My wife and I love going to Old Vines at Mercato. They have great cocktails and superb modern food.
What’s your favorite special occasion restaurant and why?

TITO Ortiz
Tell us about yourself and your business.
I’m Tito Ortiz, former UFC Heavyweight Champion. After Hurricane Ian, I came down to Cape Coral to help raise money and lift people’s spirits. What struck me was how this community came together. I thought, wow, I want to be a part of this. I met Sheriff Carmine, spent some time at the Sheriff’s Office, and I could see right away how much Lee County takes care of its people. For me, safety for my kids is number one, and this community is strong. So I sold everything in California and made Cape Coral my home.
Every Sunday, I’d go out for Mexican food. The food here was good, but nothing compared to what I grew up with in California. I thought about my grandmother and how proud she’d be if I opened a place of my own. I didn’t know much about the restaurant business at first, but I knew how I wanted to be treated as a guest and how I wanted to treat my employees. That’s how Tito’s Cantina was born. We opened on September 2nd, two years ago, with my partner Chris Rowland handling the back end. Since then, I’ve learned everything—front of house, back of house, and even the books.
We keep everything fresh, from produce and meats to fish. The ceviche, tacos, burritos, molcajete—it’s all made fresh daily.
When you visit a restaurant, what aspects of the dining experience matter most to you?
Service. Service. Service. That’s everything to me. I’m a creature of habit—if the service is great, I’ll go back again and again. But if the food is phenomenal and the service is bad? You won’t see me there twice. For me, it’s about giving guests an experience they’ll never forget.
Running Tito’s Cantina fills my heart and gives me purpose. It’s my first restaurant, but my goal is to build 10 more. Naples is on my radar for the next one—if I can find the right partner, the right management, the right GMs to do it right. My name is on the door, and with that comes my values and respect for family. I take that very seriously.

An Oasis of Calm and Innovation on Campus
UINDY UNVEILS NATION’S FIRST BIOFEEDBACK & MEDITATION CENTER
ARTICLE
BY UINDY MAGAZINE
PHOTOGRAPHY BY SAMANTHA BLOOM

When you walk into the new Biofeedback & Meditation Center inside the Health Pavilion at the University of Indianapolis, it’s like you’re walking into an oasis of serenity amid the hustle and bustle of a busy campus: soothing sounds, soft lighting, and the comforting warmth of beds made from real volcanic lava rock. The purpose of the Center is to not just calm students in the moment but to teach them how to calm themselves and manage stress long after graduation.
More than merely a place of peace and serenity—the Biofeedback & Meditation Center (BMC) is a groundbreaking initiative two years in the making, designed to develop skills in emotional regulation throughout life. The BMC, created by UIndy’s Student Counseling Center, is believed to be the first of its kind in the United States to combine meditation coaching by trained clinicians with patented heated lava rock beds and realtime physiological feedback equipment.
“I am so excited about this pioneering opportunity because it is a huge advance in our mission to provide holistic wellness for
our campus community,” said Dr. Kelly Miller, psychologist and director of the Student Counseling Center.
“Combining scientific technology with the art of mindfulness empowers students to discover for themselves the mind-body connection and the control they can have in better managing physical and emotional reactions. For many, this is a transformative experience for life.”
It all started when Miller visited Urban Meditation’s studio in Indianapolis several times and was impressed with her own results. She quickly imagined how replicating the ambiance of warm lava rock, lighting, and focused meditations could benefit the planned BMC and create a unique state-ofthe-art space unlike any that has been developed before at a university.
“Students don’t fit our mission, they are the mission,” said Miller. “Everything is driven by our students, and we want to make all of our resources as accessible as possible. The BMC will enable us to do just that and reach more students.”
“Students don’t fit our mission, they are the mission,” said Miller. “Everything is driven by our students, and we want to make all of our resources as accessible as possible. The BMC will enable us to do just that and reach more students.”
When she talked with Urban Meditation co-owner Kristy Paul about bringing the concept to UIndy, Paul was immediately on board and even donated the lava beds and much of the lighting and meditation equipment. Paul has struggled with mental health issues since she was a teen. Nothing seemed to help until she discovered a meditation coach who she credits with saving her life.
But developing the skills of meditation and becoming more attuned to the mind- body connection isn’t always easy. That’s where the combination of meditation strategies and the science of biofeedback helps. Underneath the lava beds, quartz crystals vibrate at a stable rate—the same principle used in watches and computers. Because the human body is about 60% water, the combination is believed to work together to reduce stress and promote deep relaxation or a meditative state. The warmth from the bed (about 104 degrees) also helps, along with the room’s immersive lighting. So while meditation seems out of reach for some, the Center’s equipment and ambiance make it possible for everyone.
“The combination of meditation and our methods helps you to react differently to stress that can feel overwhelming,” Paul said. “I really do believe that it will help UIndy students overcome adversity and be an additional safe space in the Student Counseling Center for people in distress.”
Funding for other parts of the BMC came from Miller’s continuing work with OneAmerica Financial. For the last six summers, Miller has used her training and expertise to serve groups of high school interns in the Pathways Jr. Fellows summer program. Miller teaches a mental health curriculum as well as offers one- on-one assessments to promote healthy mindsets that prepare
the interns to successfully manage a 40-hour-per- week internship. Miller also addresses additional personal stressors they may have experienced at home or in school. Gifts in honor of Miller’s work helped pay for various BMC equipment.
“OneAmerica Financial is committed to transforming the socio-economic health and well-being of our community,” said De’Niece Harrison-Hudson, OneAmerica Financial’s Community Affairs Director. “We are grateful for Dr. Miller’s tireless efforts to help our Fellows thrive and excited to think how the Biofeedback & Meditation Center will help the UIndy community thrive too.”
The BMC was unveiled in a special VIP event in April. It is open on a limited basis over the summer with a grand opening scheduled for the fall. Miller is grateful for bringing her dream to reality thanks to generous partnerships and a collaborative spirit around campus.
Miller, the clinical staff, and Paul are all excited about the scientific research that is to come. Miller believes they will be able to demonstrate that students who participate in meditation and biofeedback services will have fewer symptoms of depression and anxiety and a higher overall quality of life. Researchers also plan to examine whether the Center’s services will correlate to higher retention and graduation rates. And Miller isn’t done—she’s already envisioning what will come in Phase II.
“UIndy is on the cutting edge of utilizing innovative wellness strategies to improve mental health,” said Miller. “Dreaming big has gotten us where we are today, and I’m so excited to see what the future holds thanks to the continued support of our campus community and partners.”
Big dreams for an oasis of calm on campus—an oasis that has the potential for not just revitalizing a moment or a day, but an entire lifetime.
“I really do believe that it will help UIndy students overcome adversity and be an additional safe space in the Student Counseling Center for people in distress.”

love taking guests on a boat ride up the Intracoastal to really soak in the beauty of the area from the water. And of course, we wrap the day with dinner at Blackbird. Great food, killer cocktails, and a vibe that always impresses.
WHEN YOU VISIT A RESTAURANT, WHAT ASPECTS OF THE DINING EXPERIENCE MATTER MOST TO YOU?
It’s all about the full experience, the energy, the service, and the little details that show intention. From the moment you walk in, you should feel welcomed and transported. We look for a well-balanced atmosphere: great lighting, thoughtful music, a warm team,

and of course, food that tells a story. Presentation and flavor matter, but it’s the way it all comes together that leaves a lasting impression.
CAN YOU SHARE A STORY ABOUT A RESTAURANT YOU DISCOVERED RECENTLY THAT EXCEEDED YOUR EXPECTATIONS? WHAT MADE IT STAND OUT?
We recently discovered an incredible Greek Mediterranean restaurant right here in Naples, and it completely

blew us away. From the moment we sat down, it felt like we were transported to the coast of Greece. The authenticity of the cuisine was unmatched, fresh whole fish, vibrant flavors, and perfectly executed mainland dishes. What impressed us was their wine list, over 300 selections, thoughtfully curated to complement every dish. It wasn’t just a dinner, it was an experience that stayed with us long after the last bite. A true gem that we’ll be bringing all our foodie friends back to.
ARE THERE ANY HIDDEN GEM RESTAURANTS OR LESSER-KNOWN SPOTS THAT YOU LOVE TO RECOMMEND TO FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES?
One of our favorite hidden gems is Wolfmoon, a cozy spot that specializes in fresh croissants and specialty coffee. It’s truly a labor of love, and you can taste that passion in every bite. Everything is made with intention, from the perfectly flaky pastries to the beautifully balanced coffee. It’s the kind of place that feels like it was designed just for people who genuinely appreciate the art of real food. We love sending friends there because it always feels like sharing a little secret.

PATRIOT FUND CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF IMPACT
The Patriot Fund is dedicated to supporting Veterans by funding critical services, provided by our Operational Partners (Veteran Service Organizations), that help them transition successfully into civilian life. Many Veterans face immense challenges after service, especially those impacted by trauma or injury. The mission of The Patriot Fund is to be a reliable source of support for Veterans and their families as they rebuild their lives and reduce this statistic. Through community-focused fundraising events and partnerships with trusted organizations, The Patriot Fund, celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year, creates both an immediate and lasting impact. Over the past ten years, they have raised more than $10 million to directly benefit Veterans in need.
You’re invited to be part of this mission at the 5th Annual Stars and Stripes Speakeasy Gala on Friday, November 7th at 4:30 PM at the elegant Ritz-Carlton, Beach Resort in Naples. With stunning views of the Gulf and refined décor, this black-tie optional evening will be unforgettable. Exclusive Sponsorship Opportunities are available on a first come first served basis. There are limited individual tickets available!
The program features powerful tributes, including a stirring performance of “Old Glory” by U.S. Navy Retired Surface Warfare
Officer and Afghanistan Veteran Evangelo “Vann” Morris, and keynote remarks from Lieutenant (Ret.) Mark Greene, a former U.S. Navy SEAL. The evening also includes a live and silent auction, followed by a Prohibition Themed Speakeasy for guests to enjoy.
Last year, thanks to our supporters, we raised over $650,000 that made a direct impact on Veterans in need. With your help, we can do even more to end Veteran suicide. Purchase tickets: https://vhi2025.givesmart.com Contact Pam Davis: pamdavis@patriotfundinc.org for additional information

There’s something deeply satisfying about a well-made sandwich—especially when it comes together with minimal effort but delivers big on flavor. As the season changes and appetites grow heartier, fall is the perfect time to get creative with ingredients tucked between slices of crusty bread or buttery rolls. Whether you’re looking to upgrade your lunch routine, enjoy comforting flavors and bold textures, or impress guests with a no-fuss meal, these easy-to-make sandwiches strike the perfect balance between simple and sensational.

Savory Roast Beef with Horseradish Cream
INGREDIENTS
• 2 slices crusty bread (sourdough, ciabatta, French bread)
• 6 oz roast beef

• 2 tbsp butter (for toasting)
• 2 ½ tbsp mayonnaise
• 1 tbsp horseradish sauce
• 1 tsp Dijon mustard
• Arugula
• Cherry tomato
• Caramelized onions
INSTRUCTIONS

Toast the bread. Butter one side of each slice and toast in a skillet until golden. Heat roast beef briefly in a pan. To make the spread, mix mayo, horseradish sauce, and Dijon. Spread on the toasted bread. Layer roast beef, cheese, and broil briefly to melt. Add arugula, tomato, and caramelized onions if using. Top with the second slice of bread.
