September 2025 Publisher’s Letter

Dear Reader,

I hope this letter finds you inspired and ready to embrace the beauty of self-expression.

Style is such an extraordinary part of life—it’s far more than the clothes we wear or the accessories we choose. Style is woven into every detail of our existence, from the way we decorate our homes to the art and music we enjoy, the books we read, and even how we interact with the world around us. It’s the unique thread that creates the tapestry of who we are.

What makes style so captivating is its deeply personal nature. It evolves alongside us as we explore new interests, embrace our quirks, and express what we value most. It’s a language without words, a powerful tool for connection that can bridge differences and spark shared understanding.

Here in Fairfield, we’re fortunate to have endless opportunities to celebrate and explore style. Whether it’s through visiting local boutiques, supporting creative entrepreneurs, or simply drawing inspiration from our town’s vibrant culture, there’s so much to ignite your creativity and lift your spirit.

This month, I encourage you to think of style as an authentic expression of yourself. The most beautiful style is one that reflects who you truly are—your passions, your story, your individuality. And the incredible thing is that no one else in the world can replicate that.

So go ahead, celebrate your unique style. Whether you’re exploring new trends, blending classic elements, or creating something entirely original, let this issue inspire you to embrace the power of self-expression.

Here’s to being unapologetically and uniquely you!

Cheers!

FIND

YOUR STYLE WITH INSPO + IVY

ARTICLE BY SAMANTHA SCHOENGOLD BERANBOM PHOTOGRAPHY BY DARIUSZ TEREPKA PHOTOGRAPHY

Scrolling through Instagram in need of some new creative fuel, I stumbled upon Inspo + Ivy. Lifestyle influencer Alissa Pavano curates her squares with an elevated eye, covering food, beauty, mom life and fashion. Although the vibe is refined (and she also happens to be gorgeous), her content is always approachable, stylish, fun, witty, uplifting and real. If you don’t follow Alissa already, meet your new insta-inspo.

Q: TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF.

Alissa: My life has been fueled by twists and turns.  With a background in pre-med, I found myself as a stayat-home mom of three and a professional relocator— moving our young family nine times in five years, making Fairfield our final relocation from Florida. In 2019, I decided it was time to do something for myself that I could be proud of. I began to build Inspo + Ivy, driven by sharing fashion, family, and everyday moments —the highs and lows, and all the inspiration in between.  Most recently, I stepped into the corporate world as Director of Training for a financial planning firm - from the carpool to the conference room, I like to say. I’m most proud of being able to reinvent myself at every stage of life.

Q: HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE INSPO AND IVY AND HOW DID IT GET ITS START?

A: Inspo + Ivy started as a women’s e-commerce store featuring curated collections for each season.  Over the years, it has evolved into a lifestyle page. I share all the things: at-home skincare, thirty-minute family meals, affordable fashion, home finds and DIY projects. I try to strike a balance between family life, juggling a career, and enjoying a dose of healthy, letyour-hair-down, live-in-the-moment fun—and most recently—dating in your forties.

Q: WHAT WAS THE CATALYST FOR INSPO AND IVY AND WHAT IS ITS MISSION?

A: This question hits home. Since pausing on chasing my aspirations and passions to start a family, I had little to no financial independence.  Something that terrified me and that I was never comfortable with.  After a tough day, I hopped on a train to NYC and attended a fashion trade show.  Within two weeks, Inspo + Ivy was born. I always knew there was more I wanted to create and this marked a huge life pivot for me.  It took a lot of courage for me to take the leap and step outside of motherhood for something more. I have poured so much heart into Inspo + Ivy —a brand built to inspire women to lift each other up, prioritize self-care and well-being, and embrace their bold, edgy, and unapologetically daring side, all while maintaining balance at home.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR OVERALL FASHION PHILOSOPHY AND STYLE MOTTO?

A: Style should be bold, effortless, and real. Something that fits both the boardroom and the bleachers.  I love mixing high-impact pieces with everyday practicality. Confidence is the best accessory a woman can wear.  My motto is - style is a feeling, make it powerful.

Q: WHAT THREE WORDS BEST DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?

A: Bold. Feminine. Savvy

Q: GIVE OUR READERS SOME TIPS TO EASILY UPDATE THEIR WARDROBE FOR FALL AND YOUR NEVER-FAIL RESOURCES.

A: Brown is still very much trending. I have my eyes set on some brown leather staple pieces to update my wardrobe.  I try really hard not to live in pants all winter.  Grab a pair of sheer black tights (I have several Amazon tights linked on my Instagram) and a wool trench to keep your look feminine all through winter.  If you don’t have an oversized blazer, add one to the list and belt it to wear as a top. Lastly, when all else fails, an easy pulled-together go-to is leggings, an oversized sweater, and boots, and call it a day. Plus, don’t forget eyewearyou can make an entire outfit with the right sunglasses.

Q: SHARE YOUR MOST ESSENTIAL BEAUTY TIP AND THE MUST-HAVES IN YOUR COSMETIC BAG?

A: The NuSkin Lumispa ALL DAY LONG. It increases cell turnover, deep cleans your pores and is the greatest anti-aging device around. Peter Roth hyaluronic eye patches. Brow filler pencil. Waterproof retractable eyeliner for the waterline of your eyelid. And a nude lipstick (current fave: Maybelline Reef).

Q: WHAT ARE YOUR SIMPLE GO-TO RECIPES AND EASY TEEN SNACK HACKS FOR ON THE GO, ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE HECTIC BACK-TO-SCHOOL DAYS?

A: With three athletes in the house- I am all about Sunday meal prepping. We keep it simple and clean: always some marinated chicken breast, roasted baby red potatoes, jasmine rice, and roasted broccoli (475°F in the oven with olive oil -  game changer ). I have several slow cooker recipes on my website that won’t leave your family dreading dinner. Don’t be afraid to break out the ol’ crockpot. But my family’s absolute favorite meal to come out of my kitchen is Sunday sauce, rigatoni, and breaded Italian chicken cutlets. For snacks, we’re always protein-chasing. Yogurt parfaits, a fridge full of pre-made protein shakes and our favorite movie snack popcorn with fruit snacks tossed in. 10/10 recommend!

Q: WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

A: My Instagram community. As silly as that sounds, I think we inspire each other.  And my kids. They keep me young. They keep me sleep deprived as well. Anyone with a teenager in the house knows— one eye open at all times.

Q: WHAT’S UP NEXT FOR INSPO & IVY? MANIFEST HERE ;)

A: I am embarking on a major reinvention- home life will look different (I will be sharing all the home finds, renovations, and decor), personal life will also look different (sprinkling it in when it feels right) and always on the fashion and beauty hunt to share with you all. I am most excited about this new chapter and inspiring so many of you to chase a life you deserve. Your soul should feel nourished; if it doesn’t, ladies, it’s time for a change. Let’s manifest all things home on the horizon.

Q: WHAT’S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF YOUR JOURNEY SO FAR?

A: Letting life flow through me and allowing it to happen. There is something rewarding about letting go and then being proud of not just how you adapt, but also how you thrive along the journey. Be a love warrior. Believe in humanity and good people. Trust that the universe will deliver what is meant to stay. And lean in to what brings calm over chaos. When life throws something ugly your way, rather than react, do one thing to make yourself healthier, whether it’s 100 squats, a walk, or an at-home skincare session. Before you know it, you’re a better you. Nothing more rewarding than that.

DESIGN INTUITION AND INTENTION WITH CETTA

Style Soulmate

In a sea of one-note style where sameness and predicability are all too common, Jillian PuglisiLipow emerges with a design sensibility that’s both distinct and deeply considered. Her interiors feel personal and refined, shaped by an intuitive understanding of space and a true reverence for story. At the helm of her decorating and styling studio, CETTA, Jillian brings an eye for beauty, an instinct for balance, and a belief that a home should reflect the lives lived within it.

Named after her beloved grandmother—her enduring muse and aesthetic compass—CETTA is rooted in meaning. “One of my earliest memories is playing with my grandmother’s 1930s crystal prism lamp and begging her to save it for me,” she recalls. “It now sits on my nightstand—still casting rainbows when the light hits it.” That emotional connection to objects and environments is the heart of CETTA’s ethos. “I’m drawn to character-rich pieces that bring a sense of story to a space—items that feel lasting and considered.”

CONTINUED >

A Fairfield-based mother of two, Jillian began her career in the fashion world, working with large commercial brands. “I’ve always been a creative at heart,” she says. “I was drawn to storytelling through personal style, environments, and the thrill of discovering unique pieces that feel meaningful and one-ofa-kind.” That same creative energy and passion for individuality now fuel her work in interiors—a pivot that feels both natural and deeply aligned.

Her approach is equal parts intuitive and intentional. “I like to let the architecture and foundational elements breathe—allowing the quality materials and thoughtful design to speak for themselves,” she explains. “Then I layer in personality through styling, which is where the warmth, individuality, and soul of a space really come to life.” She curates spaces that feel layered and collected while seamlessly juxtaposing modernity with character —spaces that feel lived-in, loved, and never overdesigned.

Whether overseeing a full-scale renovation or breathing new life into an existing space, Jillian brings both creative vision and practical expertise to every project. CETTA offers a full spectrum of services, from largescale home expansions to furnishings and final-layer styling, for both new builds and established homes. Every detail is considered, every decision intentional.

A firm believer in collaboration, Jillian credits her strong relationships with contractors and tradespeople as a key to her studio’s success. “Design projects are naturally layered, but strong collaboration makes all the difference. I’ve built trusted partnerships with contractors and subcontractors who share the same values—efficiency, communication, and integrity. We work as a team, keeping clients informed and supported from start to finish.”

What truly sets CETTA apart is Jillian’s ability to marry structure with soul—crafting interiors that feel both elevated and emotionally resonant. It’s not just about beautiful design—it’s about creating spaces that reflect the people who inhabit them, with intention, artistry, and heart.

From styling secrets to sourcing go-tos, Jillian shares where CETTA finds the pieces that elevate a space—each one chosen for its story, substance, and enduring appeal:

1. CONSIGNMENT KING (ESTATE SALES)

A goldmine for vintage art, pottery, and an eclectic mix of mid-century and antique furniture. The founder has deep ties with top realtors handling historic home listings—meaning first dibs on homes full of design gems. Tip: Follow their estate sale calendar closely—early birds get the good stuff.

2. FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE

When working within a tighter budget—or a tighter timeline—this is my go-to. I’ll never compromise on quality, and Marketplace often delivers on standout items like dining tables, chairs, and sofas ready for reupholstering. It’s hyper-local, quick, and full of potential.

3. STRATFORD ANTIQUE CENTER

A stylist’s dream. Love this spot for mirrors, art, bowls, glassware—you name it. Perfect for layering personality into a space through smaller, collected pieces that tell a story.

4. FURNITURE ON CONSIGNMENT (WESTPORT)

My secret weapon for oversized artwork and outdoor furniture. The scale of what they carry is often hard to find elsewhere, and it’s always changing—worth frequent visits.

5. APTDECO.COM

Technically more NYC-centric, but with shipping to Connecticut as low as $29, this online resource is a sleeper hit. I have scored pre-loved designer pieces—from

Knoll and Herman Miller to B&B Italia and DWR for clients— at a fraction of retail. A must-watch if you’re looking for investment pieces with a pedigree.

6. BEAUTY PIGEON HOME (INSTAGRAM @BEAUTYPIGEONHOME) (BONUS PICK!)

Our friend Gina documents her treasure hunts and often tags us along for the ride. She not only shares where she shops, but also how she styles each piece in her magical Westport home. It’s an inspiring (and addictive) follow for anyone who loves the thrill of the find.

DREAM OPEN HOUSE

PHOTOGRAPHY BY BORGATTA PHOTOGRAPHY

Perched on 11 secluded waterfront acres along Fairfield’s iconic Sasco Hill Road, this architectural gem feels like something out of a storybook—but with better wine storage. Designed by architect Jason Chai (a cousin of the original owners—because fantasy homes should come with family ties), the house is at once majestic and timeless. With its dramatic Gambrel roof and Dutch barn-inspired silhouette, the exterior sets the tone for what’s inside: thoughtful design layered with quiet luxury.

CONTINUED >

Borrowing from Swedish, Moorish, and Dutch design traditions, the home strikes a balance between global influence and hyper-local charm. The current owners—a couple with Scandinavian heritage and impeccable taste—leaned into those Nordic roots, crafting interiors that are serene, sculptural, and saturated in soft light. The palette is muted, the textures rich, and every room is a masterclass in refined restraint.

Perhaps the most covetable feature of all? A discreet gate leads down to the property’s very own stretch of shoreline—essentially private thanks to its inaccessibility to everyone else.

It’s sandy, it’s serene, it’s epic and for this part of the Connecticut coast, it’s exceedingly rare. It’s the kind of magical coastal hideaway that makes you question why whoever lives here would ever need to vacation anywhere else.

Exclusively listed by Andrew Whiteley and Wendy Ryan of Brown Harris Stevens Connecticut, LLC, this home’s balance of architectural integrity, design sophistication, and real-life coastal fantasy makes it more than just a place to live—it’s a total dream home.

For more exclusive dream home listings, follow Andrew and Wendy at @andrewandwendybhs or visit andrewwendybhs.com

LIVING STYLE in

THE INTERSECTION OF FASHION AND HOME

INthis unexpected love affair, fashion and interiors are more than just a simple pairing—they are rooted in culture, creativity, and the human desire for self-expression.

As conscious consumers of the 21st century, participating in a retail landscape that is oversaturated and struggling to adapt to the ever-changing demands of the modern customer, our purchasing power should not only respond to a feeling of want but also prioritize items that reflect who we

are and who we aspire to be. This is clearly visible through the representation of fashion and interiors.

Although we tend to consider cost-per-wear primarily when it comes to clothing, this same principle applies to furniture and the function it brings to the home. Aesthetics and functionality both play a role in this pairing, painting a picture for the rest of the world of who the wearer is and how they live in their space.

The woman who wears a blazer with sharp shoulders that CONTINUED >

makes her feel powerful in her everyday life—or the black dress that gives her a necessary boost of confidence—may naturally gravitate toward sleek, modern furniture that feels equally strong and elevates the space where the modern woman thrives.

In the same way, someone who prefers an effortless ensemble—like their favorite white T-shirt and comfortable denim jeans—may also look for home pieces that are functional and make their guests feel at ease. Even a handmade rug, one that sparks conversation about where it was found and adds a focal point to a room, mirrors how we search our closets for a sweater tied to a cherished memory.

Just as we carefully choose outfits to express ourselves, it’s equally important to ensure that our living spaces are designed with the same intention. More than ever, modern buyers are making purchasing decisions based on personal morals and values, forming a new wave of consumers who seek products that are both high-quality and environmentally or socially conscious, whether for themselves or their homes.

The following imagery affirms that living a timeless lifestyle across all aspects of life is possible through the thoughtful styling of sustainable clothing and vintage furniture. As the modern retail landscape continues to evolve, it’s become increasingly vital to make conscious consumer choices—ones that allow us to express our truest selves through both our wardrobes and the places we call home.
