(bathroom vanity), knotty alder (bathroom vanity) and African mahogany (master bathroom). The living room and master bedroom ceilings feature stunning tongue and groove, clear vertical grain fir with exposed LVL beams. Floors are five-inch rift and quartered white oak. David Ellis of Ellis Construction says about five feet of the original stone foundation still show on the front elevation of the home and contrast nicely with the beautiful new stucco and glass representing the complete transformation this house has undergone. “I really enjoyed this project,” says Ellis. “It was great to be able to put new life into this older home in such a beautiful area of town.” Ellis—a former CU Buffaloes football player—began his construction career working for national production homebuilders where he honed his project management, customer service and budgeting skills. His appreciation for fine architecture and craftsmanship led him toward smaller, custom homebuilders and eventually to start his own company in 2002. The company specializes in remodeling and new custom home construction, provides pre-construction services and enjoys engaging in the consulting experience to draw on David’s strengths of efficient project and budget management.
