Put a ‘spring’ into your Sales The first quarter of the year presents the Independent Retailer with a host of opportunities. These early months of the year provide key dates which you should take full advantage of, to maximise your Store’s Sales opportunities. It’s never too early to start planning. The first date for considerable Sales opportunities is Valentine’s Day on 14th February, but don’t forget Pancake Day which takes place earlier that week on Tuesday, 12th February. Mother’s Day is next on the list falling on Sunday, 10th March, providing the Independent Retailer with yet more opportunities to sell cards, flowers, chocolates, drinks and gifts. St Patrick’s Day on 17th March is always a popular celebration followed by the four-day Easter holiday chocfest at the end of the month. Easter Sunday is on 31st March, so the month
goes out on a high note, and it’s going to be a busy time with lots of potential. Mintel have reported that Confectionery Sales will continue to rise until 2015, so look forward to a busy year ahead. This is a time to grow your Sales and with careful preparation and planning, you can make the most of these Retail opportunities which the season provides. continued on p4
