FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS TO BUSINESS ICON “The business has been well accepted on the back of our strong Brand and history in Mount Gambier and people are very happy that we are able to accommodate their needs and work out economic solutions when it comes to their Refrigeration and AirConditioning requirements,” Luke said. Gordon Refrigeration has recently been named the Mitsubishi Electric South Australian Regional Dealer of the Year for 2015/2016. This award is based on sales of the air-conditioning product supplied by the manufacturer and it has been a long time in the making for Gordon Refrigeration. “I have a mate who owns a company in the Riverland/ Norther Territory whom has beaten me for the last 10 years and I have always finished a very close second to him – but I managed to get over the line this year,” said Luke very happily. Gordon Refrigeration supports local community sports and to name a few is a sponsor of Gambier Centrals Soccer Club, West Gambier Cricket Club, West Gambier Football Club and also the up and coming international talent of Josh Burdon and FMX Freestyle Motocross. “Josh is a massive talent whom is very humble and goes about his business the same way – it is a pleasure to be

his major sponsor,” Luke said. Luke employs eight staff at his Mount Gambier business and four staff at the Naracoorte operation. “I have been fortunate enough to surround myself with good people – just not one person can run a business like this day to day on their own, I am very appreciative of all my staff in both branches,” Luke stated.

LOOKING AFTER BEACHPORT’S HISTORY Wattle Range Council has commissioned a Heritage Survey of the town of Beachport and the surrounding district. Council is committed to identifying and documenting places of heritage value in the area, and completed a Heritage Survey of the town of Penola in 2009. The purpose of the survey is to identify, assess and document places of heritage significance within the area. As part of the project, we will be seeking input about places that the local community feel are of heritage value. A community workshop is also proposed during the project, where we invite members of the community to attend and tell us about the special stories of the district and places of importance. Dates will be confirmed for the workshop in due course. Should you have any questions regarding the project, please do not hesitate to contact Council’s Planning Officer, Peter Whiting on (08) 8733 0900 or council@wattlerange.sa.gov.au
