Long serving dental clinic moves to new state-of-the-art premises

After more than five decades at its Ferrers Street home, Ferrers Dental has relocated into its highly anticipated state-of-the-art facility in James Street and also rebranded itself as Limestone Coast Dental. The respected dental service had outgrown its 26 Ferrers Street home and also needed to update its equipment and consulting areas so relocation became critical. “We have always dreamt of a new building that reflects the quality of our business with the flexibility to improve and grow our service to the region,” practice principal Dr Helen Heaver said. The new architecturally designed surgery is a brighter, more modern, wellequipped that is on par, if not better, with any capital city dental surgery. Dr Heaver was born in Mount Gambier and was, in fact, school captain of Mount Gambier High

School. She played State League netball in Adelaide and after completing a nursing degree, she transferred to dentistry, where she graduated top of her class, securing all the academic honours on offer along the way. Dr Heaver racked up a decade with well-respected North Adelaide based dentist Dr Jonathon Rogers before returning to Mount Gambier in 2003, joining Drs Ian Ridley and Doug Castle in partnership at Ferrers Dental. It was in 2011 that she took over as practice principal in a succession plan for the surgery with Drs Ridley and Castle starting to work towards retirement. The clinic has also been fortunate to add Dr Catherine Dunn to their team in April this year, with associate dentists Dr Isabel Holmes, Dr Ting Ting Chen and Dr Lauren Gill, and dental hygienists Jane Bond and

Inge Potter, all adding to the experience and expertise now on offer at Limestone Coast Dental. Drs Ian Ridley and William Trieu remain as part of the team as visiting locum dentists and in January Dr James Waters will also join the Limestone Coast Dental team. Gambier Dental Laboratory has also relocated into the new premises. There are not many dental facilities around with their own in-house technical support for denture, mouth guard and night guard manufacture and repairs. “We are looking for this facility to be a centre of excellence in dental healthcare for the region with room for future expansion, and diversification of services to cover most forms of dental specialties,” Dr Heaver said. “The new surgery is a building that will serve the region for the next 50 years or more and

is a measure of our commitment to Mount Gambier and the Limestone coast region.” Limestone Coast Dental utilised the skills of local contractors for a vast majority of the build, with limestone and pine heavily featuring in the new facility. “Dycers have been great to work with,” Dr Heaver said. “The building is complex to say the least, in function and design. They have delivered an exceptional outcome, on time, on budget, we can thoroughly recommend them. We are extremely proud of the outcome.” You can check out the new clinic and all it has to offer at Limestone Coast Dental’s facebook page.
