And it’s the foundation of P & L Livestock & Real Estate, the incarnation of a partnership between Owen Pettingill and Peter Lamond back in 2004. In its infancy it was a stock and station business focussed predominantly on livestock but over the journey, the real estate has developed to enjoy an equal share of P & L’s trading. Directors Owen Pettingill and Peter Lamond bring decades of experience to their roles - Owen with more than 40 years of sales and managerial experience in livestock and real estate and Peter, who was a livestock transport contractor in 1969, gradullay bulding his own rural property portfolio, as well as working as a commission stock agent for numerous livestock agencies from the early 1980s. Owen and Peter saw the need to provide an independent agency that could service the rural sector with a more personal approach. After a few months the company saw the need to also provide real estate services to its growing client base and in early 2005 a real estate arm was also added, headed up by Peter’s daughter, Gail Richards. P & L Livestock & Real Estate has grown immensely since this time, expanding both its livestock and real estate sales teams. The real estate arm was boosted by the addition of Peter’s brother Al Lamond in 2007 and Owen’s daughter Brooke, firstly in administration in 2007, and later joining the sales team. The livestock arm welcomed livestock agents Kevin Norman and Garth Manser in 2009 and Garth’s father, Chris Manser in 2013. More recently, Aidan Auld has joined the livestock team to train as a livestock agent. Phil Wood & Tony McGrath can also be seen acting as commission agents for the company. And, of course, every office needs that friendly and helpful first point of contact and that’s where P&L’s account manager Ellen Pettingill, who has been with the company since 2006, comes in. She is backed up by Lorraine Pratt, in real estate administration and Kerry Hill, in livestock. P & L is a family orientated business and finds its success lies in its continued loyalties to its clients and providing service over and above client expectations.
