Going the Distance: Engaging Employees, Physicians and Providers We truly believe that the future of health care is here at LifeBridge Health, and also that the contributions of every employee are vital to our success. We know that our employees are the reason we are able to work toward fulfilling our mission of improving the health of the individuals and communities we serve through compassionate, high-quality care. LifeBridge Health wants to be a place where people want to work, which is why employee engagement is so important. “I believe employee, physician and provider engagement may be one of the most important initiatives LifeBridge Health has ever launched. Our employees are the heartbeat of our organization. We need everyone’s input and suggestions so that, together as a team, we can continue to improve and grow,” says Neil Meltzer, CEO of LifeBridge Health.
Taking Our Pulse In November, employees were asked to participate in the PulseCheck survey in order to help us gauge the engagement of our employees, physicians and providers. As you may recall, you were asked to take a short 16-question survey to help management determine how you felt about the changes taking place in your department and across LifeBridge
Health. More than 63 percent of you shared your input, a 16 percent increase in participation from our inaugural survey. Thank you to the 6,159 employees and 399 physicians who shared their feedback. Looking at the survey results across the organization, four themes emerged: communication, leadership, compensation and staffing.
We Heard You! Here are Our Next Steps Employee engagement is a journey, and the Pulse-Check survey is just one stop along the way. Now we’re working to build on our positive momentum. In the months ahead, we are asking managers to make employee engagement a standing agenda item at their monthly department meetings and to address the themes identified in the Pulse-Check survey. Human Resources will be working with leaders to help get the conversation started. The first item we will tackle is concerns about staffing. Some of you may not be aware of efforts already underway to recruit top talent to join LifeBridge Health.
