Exclusive Festive Make-Up Line By Sabyasachi

The Indian ace designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee has forayed into the world of cosmetics with beauty giant L’Oreal Paris, working with actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the 21-piece collection.

The limited - edition ‘LorealParisxSabyasachi’ was now available for sale online.

The products include lipsticks, mascara and eyeliner, and the prices range between

600/- to

1500/-.

The idea for the product line was born in Mukherjee’s hometown Kolkata is inspired by the home of the beauty label, Paris, and is going to be a blend of glamour and the essence of celebration.

“For me, classic is iconic, because classic is unforgettable. The whole world is moving towards a state of effective simplicity where classic will lead the way. Makeup will be more about a stronger, lasting identity. A winged black liner with a bold red mouth offset with a simple saree and wind-swept hair is perhaps an iconic Indian beauty look,” the designer said.

Delhi Duty Free Launches Chivas XV In India Delhi Duty Free in association with Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail has launched Chivas XV in India.

The 15yo blended Scotch whisky Chivas XV, which is selectively finished in Grande Champagne Cognac casks, is the latest addition to the Chivas Regal portfolio.

To support the launch, brand experiences which showcase the spirit and bring to life the consumption moment of ‘Celebrate with XV’ were installed in prominent locations.

Introductory with rich and sweet aromas of marmalade, cinnamon and juicy sultanas, the new Chivas XV blend then transforms into a medley of fruit flavours, butterscotch and caramel toffees, rounding off with a touch of vanilla in its finish.

Chivas XV is available at a recommended retail price of 5140 (US$70) for 1 Litre.

Myntra’s ‘All About You’ available in Walmart Canada Stores To cater to the festive shopping needs of the Indian diaspora, E-commerce firm Myntra will now sell its private label in Walmart stores in Canada.

Myntra launched its private label ‘All About You’ in Walmart stores across Canada.

Myntra’s other celebrity endorsed brands such as HRX by Hrithik Roshan are also in the pipeline to be sold in Walmart stores globally, the report further stated.

After sealing a $16 Billion investment deal with the US - based retail giant, Flipkart’s fashion arm Myntra has started leveraging the reach of the US - based retail giant to sell its private brands in global markets.

The company targeted Canada for its global foray because Deepika Padukone, who endorses the brand, has a huge fan following in the country.

Recently, Deepika’s ‘All about you’, in association with Myntra, has launched a campaign to promote its 2018 autumn - winter collection.

Launched in 2015, ‘All About You’ is a women fashion brand. At present, Myntra has 14 private brands.

Flipkart had 64 Mn annual active customers and the main platform accounted for 80% of the revenues.

Ralph Lauren Opens Its First Flagship Store In India Polo Ralph Lauren is all set to open its first flagship store in India in New Delhi’s luxury mall, DLF Emporio.

The brand has been present in India for a while now through the multi-brand store ‘The Collective’ but this marks the brand’s first exclusive outlet in the country.

The store will feature not only menswear and womenswear line by the iconic American brand but also the latest spring / summer 2019 collection showcased at New York Fashion Week.

The highlight of the collection is the price points starting from 8500 onwards in the casual range.

Recently, Ralph Lauren celebrated his 50th Anniversary with a show in New York that was attended by many Hollywood personalities such as Blake Lively, Anne Hathaway.

Ralph Lauren Corporation is a global leader in the design, marketing, and distribution of premium lifestyle products, including apparel, accessories, home furnishings, and other licensed product categories.

Fossil Group, Citizen Ink Licensing Deal Fossil Group has partnered with Japanese watchmaker Citizen to launch a line of hybrid smartwatches.

These watches that will look analog will actually include a number of digital functionalities. According to the licensing deal, Citizen will manufacture and sell hybrid smartwatches featuring Fossil Group’s technology.

As per the transaction, the two companies will also work together to “bring future innovation” to the smartwatch category.

Recently, Fossil Group had also announced a global licensing agreement with Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft (BMW) for a collection of BMW-branded watches and smartwatches. The watches will be designing, developing and distributing through 2023.

Founded 100 years ago, Citizen sells its watches in more than 130 countries.

How Apparel Brands Are Celebrating Mickey’s 90th Birthday In India Whether you are a 90’s or new generation kid, one cannot forget the charm and brand value of the iconic character Mickey Mouse.

As it turns 90, the Walt Disney mascot and the most iconic cartoon character of the 95-year old company shows no signs of slowing down the popularity trail in India.

In India, special collections from brands such as Jack & Jones, Only, Vero Moda, Bewakoof, Zivame, with the Disney character in focus have been launched.

Disney’s licensing model is quite well - established, where the intellectual property rights of the character are owned by the company. As per the association, it works together to co-create the design with brands, which then take care of the manufacturing and distribution and give Disney a revenue share. Overall, the Mickey franchise has 75 - plus licensees on board.

In addition, a project called ‘Indie Mickey’ was also planned, as part of which Disney will collaborate with an undisclosed clothing brand to bring out a collection inspired by indigenous Indian craft styles, coupled with Mickey motifs.

Mickey exists in all of Disney’s verticals including television, gaming and theme parks, but its popularity is most visible in consumer products. The Mickey range across brands has styles from almost all categories such as T-Shirts, shirts, track-pants, skirts, dresses, sweats, shirt dresses, jackets among others.

According to estimates by Consultancy firm Deloitte, the overall licensing and merchandising (L&M) market in India is around 870 Billion, which constitutes nearly 5-7% of global industry valued at nearly 17,500 Billion.

Disney India ventured into adult apparel in 2008 and tried to capitalize on the growing nostalgia for Mickey Mouse in 2012 and 2014 through various renowned apparel designers. The character-based apparel market growing at over 25% per year, and is estimated at 2-2.5 Billion currently.

Liberty Shoes Launches Fragrance Line Liberty Shoes Limited has announced its foray into lifestyle retail with Liberty Lifestyle, beginning with the launch of its line of premium fragrances.

The brand has also opted for an omnichannel approach for the retail and distribution of its fragrance line.

At an affordable price range of 2,000 - 2,500,, the brand will also spend about 5 - 10 Crore on marketing the brand in the very first year.

The new EDP (Eau de Parfum) collection will consist of 12 fragrances, which will have six options for men and six for women. In addition, the brand will offer an aftershave for men.

The entire product range is available at select Liberty outlets across the country from mid October and at multiple e - commerce platforms and leading retail outlets soon after.

Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Enters Branded Apparel Space Baba Ramdev - led Patanjali forayed into the fast - growing branded apparel segment through its brand ‘Paridhan’. The Ayurveda company expects a sale of around 1,000 Crore next fiscal The Haridwar - based firm plans to open around 100 outlets of Paridhan by the end of this fiscal and have a network of around 500 stores by March 2020, mostly on the franchise model.

Targeting customers across all age groups, the company has introduced three brands - Livefit, Aastha and Sanskar.

“This year, we would have a network of 100 stores ranging between 500 - 2,500 sq feet. We are aiming a turnover of around 1,000 Crore in the next fiscal,” Baba Ramdev was quoted as saying.

The company aims to compete with multinational companies such as Adidas.

According to the billionaire monk, Paridhan range would be around 30 - 40 percent cheaper and would target ordinary people.

Sanskar would be a range of menswear, Aastha is a women’s brand and Livefit would have a range of sportswear and Yoga dresses.

The company claimed that the venture will also be available online by next year.

‘House of Pataudi’ is co-owned by Myntra, Exceed Entertainment and Saif Ali Khan.

Bollywood Actor and Producer, Saif Ali Khan said, “House of Pataudi for me is an extension of my family legacy. The teams at Myntra and Exceed have put in a lot of research and effort and I believe we have all the right ingredients to build upon. Can’t wait for millions of young Indians to embrace their culture through House of Pataudi” The range includes kurtas, sherwanis, dresses and others in a price range of 1,500 to 15,000 for men and 2,000 to 20,000 for women exclusively on Myntra and Jabong from October 25 onwards.

Priyanka Chopra Branches Out As A Start-Up Investor Actor Priyanka Chopra is all set to board on a new “chapter” as an investor in tech start-up Humberto School, a coding education company, as well as in dating and social media app Bumble.

With this investment, Priyanka joined the bandwagon of celebrities such as Ashton Kutcher, Leonardo DiCaprio, who have invested in tech start - ups too.

Priyanka’s investment in Holberton is part of a USD 8.2 Million round of funding for Holberton that closed in April. She will join the company’s board of advisers and will help in supporting Holberton’s mission to educate people from underprivileged upbringings.

Her second investment is in Bumble, a dating and social media app founded by Whitney Wolfe Herd. Priyanka plans to help promote Bumble’s launch in India in the coming months.

Shikhar, Aesha Dhawan Launch Home Decor Brand Foraying into the entrepreneurial venture, Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan along with his wife Aesha Dhawan has launched his home décor brand ‘DaONE Home’. DaONE Home is a blend of elegance and practicality, reflecting everything that the couple holds dear in their lives.

Commenting on the launch, Shikhar Dhawan, Co - Founder - DaONE Home said, “Our homes are a natural extension of our own personalities, a reflection of our preferences and tastes.”

As per the documents obtained, the company claimed it has its own “Born to Sparkle” collection but Kylie started making her own “Born to Sparkle” eyeshadow with similar colors and packaging.

Kylie’s birthday collection featured lip gloss, lipstick, lip liner, and glitter eyes, and it launched on August 6.

The “Born to Sparkle” eyeshadow was part of that line. Sheree Cosmetics said it filed for a trademark on August 30, 2018.

It’s a Diwali Cheer For Online Retailers!

Come October and November, Flipkart and Amazon India have recorded significant growth in their customer base during the festive month. While homegrown player Flipkart claimed to have doubled its customer base over last year’s festive month, Amazon said more than half of Indian online shoppers transacted on its platform.

Flipkart started its 'Big Diwali Sale' on November 1, rival Amazon kicked offered a day later, announcing the Great Indian Sale on the midnight of November 2.

Both players ended the sales on November 5.

Both the company claimed that they received orders from customers from over 99 per cent of the pin codes in the country, more from tier II and tier III cities.

Compared to last year, impulsive shopping has increased, with every, two in every five customers have indulged in imprudent shopping.

The Flipkart Strategy: Amazon's biggest competitor, Flipkart, wasn’t far behind in the online war. According to Redseer Consulting report, Flipkart captured the highest market share in the last phase of festive sales.

Day two witnessed biggest in terms of gross merchandise volume (GMV), as it saw the launch of multiple new Flipkart-exclusive phones.

Flipkart said its gross merchandise value expanded 90% over the sales period last year. These higher sales by Flipkart were mostly driven by the sale of mobile phones and fashion verticals, which grew by 78 percent and 70 percent, respectively. Sales of consumer electronics sale increased only by 45 percent.

The Amazon Mantra: Fashion, jewellery and home décor were on the top of the shopping list for Indians, with more people from small towns preferring to shop on Amazon.

Besides the regular products, Amazon also had on offer the largest selection of gold and diamond jewellery, gold and silver coins this festive season.

The platform had 22-carat gold festive collection from Senco, Malabar Gold, Joyalukkas, Candere by Kalyan Jewellers, Mia by Tanishq and PC Jeweller. Amazon had completely waived off making charges besides offering an additional 1,500 cashback.

Citing a survey by Kantar IMRB and other reports, Amazon India Senior Vice President and Country Head Amit Agarwal said Amazon emerged as "the most visited and transacted shopping destination in India this festive season”.

The company also claimed that the memberships were grown by nearly 2X.

How #MeToo Disrupts The ‘Brand’ Image Of Bollywood?

Every year thousands of young men and women head to the financial capital Mumbai, India's film capital, in search of their own Bollywood dream, but for many the experience becomes a nightmare.

The #MeToo movement in India sparked with actress Tanushree Dutta renewing a 10 year - old allegation against fellow actor Nana Patekar, opening the floodgates for a sea of complaints against several other celebrities.

Soon, after, actors and corporates in the movie industry have stepped up efforts to take stern action against offenders.

Physical and sexual harassment in Bollywood, as in Hollywood, is common. High-profile actresses, from 1970s superstar Zeenat Aman to 1994 Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, had shared harrowing personal accounts years before Dutta.

#MeToo - A reality in Bollywood: In the month following Dutta's interview, there were nearly 1.2 Million #MeToo tweets, most of them were from India.

Following the backlash this time, a union minister accused of harassment was forced to step down, a production house accused of complicity was dissolved and the film artists' union finally set up a sexual harassment committee to investigate allegations.

After four women anonymously made allegations against celebrity manager Anirban Blah, founder of Kwan Entertainment, of seeking sexual favours from aspiring actors, he was sacked with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, Anirban recently tried to end his life but was saved at the last minute.

Following allegations of sexual misconduct by multiple women and a bizarre suicide attempt, Blah had decided to leave Mumbai. Reportedly, he had relocated to Bangalore and is undergoing therapy sessions.

On October 18, screenshots were circulated online where current employees of Kwan claimed Blah was still employed with the company and that no action had been taken against him following the harassment allegations. To which, the company issued a fresh statement saying Blah's exit from the company is final and conclusive.

The #MeToo wave that has crashed upon Bollywood, engulfing big names such as Nana Patekar, Alok Nath, Sajid Khan, Alok Nath, Rajat Kapoor and Vikas Bahl.

As production houses take the blow, and A-list stars such as Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar step away from films and cancel shoots showing solidarity with the victims of sexual harassment, the production houses are bearing the financial losses.

Films such as Akshay’s Housefull 4, Aamir’s Mogul, and Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30 are among those that most recently made news for these reasons.

However, the trade experts unanimously Agreed that these films won’t be boycotted by the viewers, but will surely get delayed, resulting in losses.

Phantom is not the only Bollywood firm reeling from the impact of #MeToo. Earlier this week, Yash Raj Films fired Ashish Patil, vice - president of brand partnerships and talent management and head of its youth wing, Y - Films, after an aspiring actor accused him of sexual misconduct.

Filmmaker Sajid Khan, too, announced his decision to step down as director of upcoming comedy movie Housefull 4.

However, it’s not always the women but also the men, who have supported the cause. Celebrities such as Vicky Kaushal, Manish Malhotra, and others also supported the movement.

Rahul Johri, CEO at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has also been accused by a former ad sales executive for sexual misconduct.

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana has supported the #MeToo movement by saying that men should understand what consent is.

Rajat Kapoor also had been accused of sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviour by two anonymous women and a journalist. In his defense, he apologized on Twitter stating that he has tried to be a decent man all his life.

The Rock On! star had been supporting Tanushree Dutta ever since the controversy broke. "Her courage should be admired, not her intention questioned," Farhan Akhtar tweeted while sharing journalist Janice Sequeira's account of the events transpired between Tanushree and Nana.

Following the accusation, the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) had dropped Rajat Kapoor’s ‘Kadakh’ from the lineup of the 20th edition of the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival.

Will the industry lose out on new talent?

While there have been a few anonymous allegations against filmmaker Subhash Ghai for sexual assault and harassment, for the first - time actress Kate Sharma came out and accused the director of trying to forcibly kiss her. Kate Sharma had also filed a police complaint against Ghai in Mumbai.

With the #MeToo movement gaining momentum in India, veteran producer Ronnie Screwvala said the system in Bollywood will become more transparent than being fearful for new talents to step in.

Sharing his opinion on the current situation where the movement has created a collective consciousness among the people in the film industry, Screwvala on the sidelines of 20th Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival said, “I can imagine there could be some trepidation and that would come more from the parents than the budding talents. But because it is out in the open now, the movement will make the system more transparent.”

From violence and harassment to the gender pay gap and intimidation, abuse is widely reported in Hollywood and Bollywood. But who all listening?

The storm that is the #MeToo movement has now spread across the globe. After women in Hollywood showed the courage to speak up and share their stories, many Bollywood celebrities are also joining the bandwagon to support the cause such as Ayushman Khurana, Swara Bhaskar, Deepika Padukone, Sonam K Ahuja, Arjun Kapoor and others.

"Now, people know how to respond to the situation and that does not stop them (victims) to grow in their career. Earlier, it happened to people in such a way that they feared to raise their voice because they thought their career will be over if they are not compromising. Now, not anymore."

Deepika Padukone at a Summit with Ranveer Singh said, “For me, the #MeToo movement is not about gender. It’s about the victory of right over wrong.

Anyone who faces any sort of discrimination or any sort of abuse, I think we as people must support that person. It’s not about a woman or a man or female versus male, let’s not get confused in that conversation,".

What started out as a hashtag used by actresses to highlight sexual abuse, quickly spreads like a wildfire.

Michael Kors Acquires Versace For $2.12 Billion In the race to build America’s first - ever luxury conglomerate, Michael Kors Holdings, now renamed Capri Holdings, has acquired the world-famous Italian fashion house Versace for a value of approximately USD 2.12 Billion, including debt.

The primary cash deal - with only €150 Million in stock is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2019, reduce earnings in the first year, but contributing profits starting in year two.

The Versace family will become shareholders of Capri Holdings Limited, with Donatella keeping her role as creative director of the fashion house. India’s Retail Sector to Grow to $1.3 Trillion By 2020: Anarock Report India’s retail sector is projected to grow to $1.3 Trillion by 2020 from the level of $672 Billion in 2017, Anarock Retail report on India's offline and online retail market stated.

According to the report, the Indian retail market has evolved from traditional shops to multi-format stores and malls and the highly tech-driven e-commerce model.

Factors such as the availability of cheaper handsets and data plans are factors for a rapid growth of e-commerce models.

"India is today one of the fastest growing e-commerce markets worldwide, with millions of new internet users taking advantage of cheap smartphones and high-speed data...In fact, e-commerce in India is growing faster than in other countries like Australia, Japan, China and South Korea," Kejriwal said.

“India’s retail sector is on a faster roll than ever before and the boosters acting on the retail sector are rapid urbanisation and digitisation, rising disposable incomes and lifestyle changes, particularly that of the middle-class,” Explained Anuj Kejriwal, Managing Director and CEO, Anarock Retail.

Options such as cash-on-delivery and manufacturers' warranty have added fuel to the fire.

Cash-on-delivery has become the most preferred payment option with over 30 per cent buyers opting for it in India, the report further stated.

As per the report, growing significantly at a CAGR of 20-25 per cent annually, organized retail penetration is expected to be over 10 per cent of the total Indian retail market by 2020 as against just 7 per cent currently.

Anarock retail in its study about online retail said space will jump at four times to $73 billion by 2022 from an estimated $17.8 billion in 2017. The offline retail sector meanwhile is projected to grow from $672 billion in 2017 to $1.3 trillion in 2020.

The organized retail market is estimated to increase to 19 per cent across the top seven cities during the same period from the current 9 per cent.

Combining $1.3 Trillion (value of offline retail by 2020) and $73 Billion (size of online retail in 2022) suggests that the two sectors will at least contribute $1.99 Trillion by 2022.

High demand for a superior customer ‘experience,’ penetration of big brands into smaller towns and cities, enhancement in business strategies and operations, along with the movement from unorganised to organised business have been key factors driving this growth.

"The Indian retail sector is on a faster roll than ever before. Rapid urbanisation and digitisation, rising disposable incomes and lifestyle changes particularly of the middle-class - are acting as booster rockets for the Indian retail sector," Anuj further stated.

Furthermore, liberalisation in FDI policies and the introduction of Goods and Service Tax (GST) by the Centre has repositioned the Indian retail sector on the global map, attracting a large number of global retailers into the Indian diaspora and further driving growth of organised retail in the country.

Anarock retail in a report said that the retail sector attracted $147.4 Million during last fiscal as against $104.34 Million in the previous year.

Reliance Retail Q2 Pre - Tax Pro�it Jumps to 1,392 Crore Reliance Retail reported an over three - fold jump in its pre - tax profit at 1,392 Crore for the second quarter ended September 2018 helped by store expansion and strong value proposition.

The retail arm of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) had posted a PBDIT (profit before depreciation, interest and tax) of 444 Crore in the July - September period a year-ago.

Revenue from RIL's organised retail segment during the quarter under review grew over two - fold to 32,436 Crore as against 14,646 crore in the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal.

Commenting on the results, RIL Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani said, "Our commitment to create consumer value is gathering momentum, with the robust scale - up of India centric consumer facing businesses. The financial performance of both Retail and Jio reflects the benefits of scale, technology and operational efficiencies.”

Reliance Retail operates 9,146 stores across the country and has presence in over 5,800 towns and cities. It operated in 19.5 Million Sq Ft during the quarter under review.

According to the company, accelerated store expansion, strong value proposition and focus on customer experience across all consumption baskets has resulted in this robust growth.

Reliance Retail received over 1 Crore footfalls during the big sale period of August 11 to 15, 2018. "Deep analytics of the shopping behaviors and continued customer connect helped in drawing customers to shop at Reliance Retail stores during this period," the company said.

Reliance Retail's grocery stores led by Reliance Fresh and Smart witnessed strong growth backed by new store expansion and volume growth in existing stores. "15 new SMART stores and 5 new Fresh stores were opened during the quarter. The stores saw robust growth in Staples, Home & Personal Care and General Merchandise categories," it said.

Fresh and Smart together now operate 523 stores across 100 cities.
