Durham County Library Hosts Comics Fest Durham, NC - On Saturday, May 21, from 12-5 p.m., Durham County Library will host a Comics Fest at Southwest Regional Library, 3605 Shannon Rd. The program will feature events for all age groups, including drawing workshops, activities, giveaways and prizes. Children ages 6-12 may attend a comics workshop led by Jarrett Krosoczka. Mr. Krosoczka, author and illustrator of the popular Lunchlady series, will guide attendees through the process of creating their own graphic novels. Adults and young adults are encouraged to attend a presentation by Jason Lutes at 2:30 p.m. Mr. Lutes is the author and illustrator of the critically acclaimed historical graphic novels Berlin: City of Stone, Berlin: City of Smoke and Jar of Fools and the author of Houdini: Handcuff King (illustrated by Nick Bertozzi). Mr. Lutes will discuss the evolution of visual storytelling, the nature of sequential narrative, and the approach he took to creating his own work. Young adults ages 12-17 are invited to dress as their favorite superheroes and anime characters and attend a cosplay prom from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This program was funded by the Friends of the Durham Library and is free and open to the public.
