NOVEMBER 2012
The Liberty University men’s basketball team won seven of the last nine games during their 2011-12 season. Head Coach Dale Layer is looking to build upon that momentum for the 2012-13 season, with three of last year’s top players returning: Antwan Burrus, John Caleb Sanders, and Tavares Speaks. The Flames are also welcoming seven new faces to the hardwood. Meanwhile, the Lady Flames were recently tapped as the pre-season favorite
to win another Big South Conference Championship. Last season, Liberty went 24-9 and captured its 14th Big South title in the last 16 seasons. The Lady Flames will have a challenging start to the 2012-13 season, including a preseason appearance at the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), and games against the last two NCAA Division I national champions, Baylor and Texas A&M. Contests versus local rivals James Madison and VCU will also help
prepare Head Coach Carey Green’s squad for its 18 Big South Conference tilts. The Flames and Lady Flames will play a combined 29 home games at the Vines Center this season. The Flames have their first home appearance on Monday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m., followed by the first Lady Flames home game on Tuesday, Nov 27 at 7 p.m. You can find complete schedules at:
