NEW! Projectile Motion 45 Minutes • Laboratory Workshop Online

Learn what it takes for astrophysicists to determine landing sites of Mars Rovers. Collect and interpret data using a Phet Simulator to determine patterns of projectile motion. Alignment to NJSLS - Science MS-ETS1-1 Define the criteria and constraints of a design problem with sufficient precision to ensure a successful solution, taking into account relevant scientific principles and potential impacts on people and the natural environment that may limit possible solutions. Alignment to NJSLS - English Language Arts W.3.8 Recall information from experiences or gather information from print and digital sources; take brief notes on sources and sort evidence into provided categories. Mathematics 6.RP.A.1 Understand the concept of a ratio and use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities.

Science Circus 45-60 Minutes • Stage Show Online | At LSC | At Your School

It’s our most popular show! Explore the positives and negatives of static electricity, the subzero temperatures of liquid nitrogen, the states of matter, and the immense pressure of air. Includes more than a dozen thrilling experiments. It’s a great way to showcase the concepts of energy and matter. Alignment to NJSLS - Science MS-PS1-4 Develop a model that predicts and describes changes in particle motion, temperature, and state of a pure substance when thermal energy is added or removed. Connections to NJSLS - Mathematics 6.NS.C.5 Understand that positive and negative numbers are used together to describe quantities having opposite directions or values (e.g., temperature above/below zero, elevation above/ below sea level, credits/debits, positive/negative electric charge); use positive and negative numbers to represent quantities in real-world contexts, explaining the meaning of 0 in each situation.

EARTH AND SPACE SCIENCE NEW! All About Mars 30-45 Minutes • Planetarium Program Online | At LSC

This fall, Mars will shine brighter than it has in two years! It’s a great time to

explore the wonders of the Red Planet, from science fiction ideas to NASA’s latest missions. Alignment to NJSLS - Science MS-ESS1-3 Analyze and interpret data to determine scale properties of objects in the solar system. MS-PS2-4 Construct and present arguments using evidence to support the claim that gravitational interactions are attractive and depend on the masses of interacting objects. Connections to NJSLS - English Language Arts WHST.6-8.1 Write arguments focused on disciplinespecific content. Connections to NJSLS - Mathematics MP.2 Reason abstractly and quantitatively.

Cycles of the Seasons 30-45 Minutes • Planetarium Program Online | At LSC

Students will observe the repeating pattern of the seasons and see how Earth’s tilt and its orbit around the sun combine to change the length of day and night over the course of the year. We’ll also see how Earth’s motion around the sun changes the stars visible from season to season.

NEW! Asteroid Impact!

Alignment to NJSLS - Science MS-ESS1-1 Develop and use a model of the Earth-sunmoon system to describe the cyclic patterns of lunar phases, eclipses of the sun and moon, and seasons.

30-45 Minutes • Planetarium Program Online | At LSC

Phases and Eclipses

Investigate past asteroid impacts on Earth, from the extinction of the dinosaurs to a 2013 explosion over Russia, and look at what NASA is doing to track, study, and potentially divert other near-Earth asteroids. Alignment to NJSLS - Science MS-ESS1-3 Analyze and interpret data to determine scale properties of objects in the solar system. MS-ESS3-2 Analyze and interpret data on natural hazards to forecast future catastrophic events and inform the development of technologies to mitigate their effects. MS-ESS1-4 Construct a scientific explanation based on evidence from rock strata for how the geologic time scale is used to organize Earth’s 4.6-billionyear-old history. Connections to NJSLS - English Language Arts WHST.6-8.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas, concepts, and information through the selection, organization, and analysis of relevant content. Connections to NJSLS - Mathematics MP.2 Reason abstractly and quantitatively. 6.RP.A.1 Understand the concept of a ratio and use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities.

Black Holes 30-45 Minutes • Planetarium Program Online | At LSC

This program explores the nature of black holes, which are among the most mysterious objects in the universe. How do we know they exist? Where do they come from? What would it be like to get close to a black hole? Alignment to NJSLS - Science MS-ESS1-2 Develop and use a model to describe the role of gravity in the motions within galaxies and the solar system.

30-45 Minutes • Planetarium Program Online | At LSC

Observe the changes in the moon’s phases as a month goes by and develop a conceptual model of their cyclic patterns, as well as of eclipses of the sun and moon. We’ll explore these astronomical phenomena as seen from both Earth and outer space. Alignment to NJSLS - Science MS-ESS1-1 Develop and use a model of the Earth-sunmoon system to describe the cyclic patterns of lunar phases, eclipses of the sun and moon, and seasons.

NEW! Planet Hopping! 45 Minutes • Planetarium Program Online | At LSC

Find out how to tell the planets from the stars in the evening sky, and explore how planets move against the starry background. Then, leap off Earth and travel to each planet, seeing the planets as seen by NASA’s robot explorers. End the show with a ride on a Mars roller coaster. Alignment to NJSLS - Science MS-ESS1-3 Analyze and interpret data to determine scale properties of objects in the solar system. Connections to NJSLS - Mathematics MP.2 Reason abstractly and quantitatively.

NEW! Pluto and the Deep

Solar System 30-45 Minutes • Planetarium Program Online | At LSC

Explore the objects at the farthest reaches of our solar system: Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and the dwarf planets. 39
