Rumor has it that students who are looking to report a sexual assault or rape crime may be required to give their name under the latest revisions to the Clery Act. Paul Altieri, chief of police, said this is simply not true.

The only change made to the Clery Act was the addition of four crimes to the list of reported crimes that college campuses must make public. Those crimes are date rape, stalking, dating and domestic violence.

Title IX, on the other hand, does require complainants to give their name. Title IX and LHU’s Title IX coordinator, Albert Jones, deal solely with sexual crimes. Rape, sexual assault, stalking and dating violence are a few of the crimes included in that category, Altieri said.

When a student opens up about being the victim of a sexual crime, he or she may be required to give his or her name for the purposes of investigation. If the student does not want to be involved in the investigation, he or she has the right to opt out of reporting to law enforcement.

Although, any university faculty with knowledge of a crime involving a minor is required to file a report.

However, the Title IX coordinator is still required to investigate as thoroughly as possible with the information given. Likewise, all university staff members are required by law to report any sexual crime admitted to them by students, Altieri said.

“Universities that receive federal funds are legally required to investigate these crimes and to enact measures designed to prevent their reoccurrence. That means that nearly all university employees must report to Public Safety if they have knowledge that a crime of this type occurred,” Lisette Schillig, a professor in the English department, said in an email interview.

“In addition to reporting the crime to Public Safety, which can be anonymously reported under the Clery Act, the designated Title IX coordinator on campus must be informed of the crime, and provided the name of the person who experienced the crime. The Title IX coordinator will then follow up with the person who experienced the crime,” she added.

Information learned by LHU’s Title IX coordinator, currently Albert Jones, cannot be shared with Public Safety. Any investigations Public Safety performs must stay separate from the coordinator’s investigation, according to Altieri.

“The Title IX coordinator is responsible for working with the victim and informing the victim of possible resources,” Altieri said. “The coordinator can also rearrange schedules or student housing.”

The Clery Act, to clarify, requires the university to make information on campus crime statistics to be fully public. The addition of dating and sexual violence, date rape and stalking allow a fuller view of campus crimes. “[Covering more crimes] will help get more people the help they need and deserve,” Tyler Grainey, a freshman, said.

In the past year, Altieri said

there has been an increase in crime disclosures.

“This makes the university safer,” Altieri said. “We know what’s going on. The main purpose of the Clery Act is for college-bound kids to be able to make an informed decision about where to go to school.”

Other requirements of the Clery Act include timely notices and emergency warnings. Timely notices go out when there is an ongoing threat to the entire campus, such as the armed robber incident that occurred Sept. 12 and 13.

Emergency warnings are issued when events such as severe weather or gas leaks occur, and are mainly meant to warn specific areas on campus. These notifications are made via telephone: the officer issuing an emergency warning can set off all of the telephones in the effected building and make the emergency announcement.

“It’s good for us to know what’s going on around us so we’re aware of any problems we might encounter,” freshman Kiona Robbins said.

Further requirements of Clery and Title IX will also include all new students and staff to undergo training programs on how to report crimes.

Though the details are still being worked out, the first program will occur at the beginning of the spring 2014 semester.

“I think the intentions behind these new regulations are positive,” Schillig said. “They reflect a desire to change campus cultures across the country—cultures that give rise to the kinds of violence we too often see and that too often goes unreported.”

Graphic textbook novelist to speak Chris Gill Staff Writer cjg9648@lhup.edu Reading textbooks is generally agreed to be an exceptionally dull portion of college work.

What if instead of bland texts you could read a comic and get the same sort of information?

An upcoming speaker Jay Hosler, assistant professor of biology at Juniata College, has published several graphic novels and spawned a few web comics that allow you to do just that.

It comes across as a method of bridging art and science through graphic novels.

Before you trade in your biotextbook for one of Hosler’s graphic novels, you should understand they are better used as a supplement to a particular text or topic, rather than a replacement for the textbook.

“In terms of a book on evolution, it covers a portion of the material you’d get in a traditional biology textbook,” Dana Washington, an assistant professor in the English department, said.

“Most of us at the undergrad level, if we were to take an intro to biology course, we’d get a unit on evolution, and it covers that whole unit. But then there’s the rest of the book that has all of the other biology in it. It’s like a specialty textbook,” Washington added.

The theory behind the effectiveness of Hosler’s graphic novels is that individuals learn not just through text but through visual pictorials of the concepts.

While many people may be able to create mental visualization for those without that mental faculty, these books can help.

“We don’t all learn only through words, and I’ve been trying to figure out this piece of math. If a

picture is worth a thousand words, and it probably is, and then you add some words to it and places where you have to make meaning in the blank spaces between the panels...

How much is that worth?” Washington said. “Quite a lot. It really puts the material into your head.”

Hosler will be appearing Monday, Sept. 23 in the PUB MPR at 7 p.m. He will bring some of his illustrations. Hosler’s meet and greet is open to the public.

His graphic novels will be available for purchase and signing.

“It’s going to be very interesting,” Washington said. “Almost any topic you have, if you’re struggling with it, type “graphic” and that title into one of the big book websites, and see what comes up.

You just might find a version of a xbook that will explain to you what you’re not getting in your class.”

Samantha Boulton publishes ‘The Isthmus Company’ Kyra Smith-Cullen News Editor ksmithcu@lhup.edu The university can add another author to its list of notable students, since one student has had her work published outside of the campus community.

Samantha Boulton, a junior majoring in theatre, celebrated the release of her novel, “The Isthmus Company”, at the beginning of September. The book, printed by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, is the first in a series of six. Currently, it is only available through the publisher but it will be sold by Barnes and Nobles and Amazon on November 26.

“It took me awhile to write it. I actually started during my senior year of high school, four years ago. I began writing it as a much larger story.” Boulton said in an email interview. “The idea of dividing into individual books didn’t occur to me until after I’d written most of the story line.” Boulton has been writing since childhood, including short stories and a medieval story that spanned 1800 pages.

“The Isthmus Company” is about a pair of employees, Tag Jones and Tryp Marxon, of a loan agency with questionable intentions, whose job it is to collect collateral against those who have unpaid debts; something valuable enough to motivate them to repaying. But they have a problem when a client’s only thing of value is his daughter.

Like many authors, Boulton didn’t have her manuscript accepted by a publishing company on the first try.

“Most companies turned it down without looking at it because I didn’t have an agent to submit it to them. A few rejected it because the subject matter

“That’s been the most difficult part of writing for me – the idea that somebody might read it. When I write, I do so for my-

self and everyone else is an afterthought,” Boulton said. “The reason I don’t want my family and friends to read it before it is released is because I don’t want to waver on the content because of their opinions. I want my story to be in its purest form, especially now that it is going to be reaching readers.”

“Make sure you update my blog,” states Piper Chapman, as she enters Litchfield Federal Prison, to serve her 15-month sentence for her role in an international drug smuggling ring. Based on the memoirs of Piper Kerman, “Orange is the New Black” is taking the Internet by storm. The Netflix original series is one of the hottest new shows of the past season.

The show focuses around Piper Chapman, played by Taylor Schilling. Piper is an upper-middle class, college graduate, who got caught up in a romantic relationship with her then girlfriend/ international drug smuggler Alex Vause, played by Laura Prepon.

Piper goes to prison in hopes of keeping her head down and just serving her time.

This plan is thrown by the wayside when she causes all kinds of problems for herself. She insults the prison chef, starts a riot with a chicken and she ends up accidentally stealing a screwdriver.

Piper keeps herself entertained with the very colorful fellow inmates serving time with her. Red, the ex-Russian mafia affiliate; Taystee, the librarian from the wrong side of the tracks and Pennsatucky, the redneck child of God, are some of the interesting cast of characters she is locked up with.

Most of Piper’s problems stem from the fact that she is locked up with her ex-girlfriend Alex, who is also the person who turned her in. On the outside of prison, Piper has a fiancé waiting for her but her extended time with her ex Alex causes problems for her relationship.

“Orange is the New Black” is a great show full of strong female bonds, whether they are friendly or romantic. As you follow Piper, you watch her transition from a spoiled, rich girl to a strong member of this prison community.

Piper finds herself in prison. She comes to realize that she is no different from these women: they all made bad choices that altered the course of their lives. “Orange is the New Black” reminds viewers that everyone is human and that behind every bad decision there is often a story worth exploring.

Two star-crossed lovers are banned from the bookshelf Allison Bellinger Guest Writer aeb5251@lhup.edu Romeo and Juliet, a story that has been read thousands of times in schools all over the world, may not be taught this year in a South Carolina middle school because it is one of the literary works on this years banned book list.

Banned Books Week is an annual event that starts during the last week of September; this year it will begin on Sept. 22. Barbara Jones, director of the American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom, told District Management, this event is “an annual celebration of the freedom to read and create awareness to protect access to books.”

The American Library Association (ALA) is the driving force behind Banned Books Week. The organization established the very first Banned Books Week in September of 1982. Some of the participants this event include: The Association of American Publishers, The National Council of Teachers of English, and local libraries and schools.

The majority of challenges against books come from parents. They believe the books have sexually explicit content, inappropriate and offensive language or violence.

While Jones does not challenge these statements, she said, “young adult novels are a bit bleak and contain drugs, sexually explicit content, and vio-

lence. However, these novels have the power to save the lives of at-risk young adults because they can identify with controversial topics, such as gun violence, anorexia, and cutting.”

“You learn a lot from what you read and it is a shame to put any kind of restriction on any book,” said Samantha Duffy, senior history major.

The ALA releases an annual book list in public libraries and schools across the nation. The 2013 list includes: William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, John Green’s Looking for Alaska, Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger and A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer.

“I am shocked about Romeo and Juliet, it is one of the best romantic novels ever written and a great representation of Shakespeare’s works,” said Julia Jackson, sophomore communication major.

“I believe anyone should be able to read any book they want,” said Brittany Zeller, sophomore history and political science major.

An ALA article said, “Surveys indicate up to 85 percent of actual challenges to library materials receive no media attention and remain unreported.

Moreover, this list is limited to books and does not include challenges to magazines, newspapers, films, broadcasts, plays, performances, electronic publications, or exhibits.”

Where have all the guitars gone?

As I was returning to LHU from home, my friend played some music on the radio, like we usually do. He decided to play the station called “Today’s Hits”. These had artists such as Miley Cyrus, Maroon 5, and some others that we usually hear on the radio.

I am not particularly a huge pop kind of guy, but I kept listening anyway. Then I got to think, why does everything have to be pop now? Where are the guitars? Everything is so technological now a days.

Sure, I like some songs that they play on the radio, but, again, why does everything have to be pop? I even remember when Maroon 5 use to have songs with guitars and

drums, but now it’s all computer based synthesizers and keyboards. I brought this up to my friend in the car and he agreed that there is no rock anymore.

I miss hearing guitars on the radio. I miss hearing guitar riffs, epic bass lines, and the heart thumping drum beats. It seems like every pop song has the same story. The chorus is just there over and over again.

So, I have a list of top 10 songs that were played on the radio that they should play every once in awhile to hear some guitars.

I want to hear songs that really move me like Blink-182 and Fall Out Boy. They never disappointed me with their songs. I use to love it when they were played on the radio but now, even Fall Out Boy went to a modern pop sound.

“Much Ado About Nothing” with Kathleen Ellison

Maybe you’ve heard of Kenneth Branagh. He’s famous for involvement with movies based on classic literature, but I’m sure most of you only know him as Professor Gilderoy Lockhart. But I’m not talking Harry Potter today, I’m talking Shakespeare. Specifically the romantic comedy “Much Ado About Nothing”.

This 1993 movie is directed

by Kenneth Branagh, and features a star-studded cast of Kate Beckinsale, Emma Thompson, Keanu Reeves, Denzel Washington, Michael Keaton, Robert Sean Leonard and of course Kenneth Branagh.

The love-struck Hero (Beckinsale) and Claudio (Leonard) are set to marry in a week, and as the happy day approaches they decide to trick their friends into falling in love with the help of Don Pedro (Washington), but can they make the arrogant Benedick (Branagh) fall in love with the sharp tongue Beatrice (Thompson)?

This movie is hilarious, and I feel it was a perfect adaption of one of my favorite Shakespeare plays.

it as Benedick. He imbues every line with the essence of his character and wry humor. His confrontations with Emma Thompson’s Beatrice are executed so impeccably that they will have you shouting “OH BURN!” really loudly.

Thompson’s Beatrice is given the perfect amount of independence and sassiness that perfectly complements Benedick’s obnoxious attitude. Meanwhile, Michael Keaton’s small role of Dogberry is somewhat reminiscent of his old portrayal of Beetlejuice. He easily conquers the role of the fool with slapstick and a nod to Monty Python.

Speaking of such humor, Branagh easily incorporated slapstick seamlessly into the play. The scene in which Benedick spies on Don Pedro and his companions is one of my favorites, especially when Last week’s answer was: he pretends to be a bird.

This is probably my favorite “Star Wars Episode V: Shakespeare movie. Except for an The Empire Strikes Back” occasional unnecessary silly scene, this movie is filled with amazing acting, great wardrobe, and wonderful cinematography. Robin Thicke music video stirs controversy

“Blurred Lines” with a clear message: the more exploitation, the better.

Unless you’ve lived under a rock in the 21st century, you know that sex sells and it is all over the media.

What message is this really promoting to everyone? Is it okay for women to be comfortable with their bodies and promote their sexuality however they want? I believe that women have the freedom to wear whatever they want, and promote their sexuality however they want, but is it too much for women to be seen naked in a music video? There really is a fine line between liberation and taking it to the extreme.

Case in point: Robin Thicke’s video “Blurred Lines” uncensored featuring T.I. and Pharrell Williams. Many people were upset with the censored video, so I cannot imagine the uproar many more would have if they saw the uncensored one. I have read many articles indicating that certain lyrics in “Blurred Lines” promote sexual liberation for women, but the uncensored music video screams nothing to me but pure sexual exploitation of women. Three beautiful, thin women are seen topless walking around while the three males in the video gawk and touch them however they want. If that doesn’t sound like sexual

harassment, I’m not sure what does.

I know a lot of music videos today exploit women, but “Blurred Lines” definitely topped it for me. After seeing the uncensored video, I could not believe how much that video pushed the envelope with actually showing nudity, instead of blurring it out like most videos do.

If that didn’t disturb you enough, the director of the video is Diane Martel. Yes, you read that correctly: the director of the video is a woman. If a woman has the audacity to direct a video like this and call it art, then how is anyone supposed to respect women?

Women exploiting other women will never stop men from exploiting women.

In Dr. Lisette Schillig’s Introduction to Women’s Studies class, she showed a parody video entitled “Defined Lines” by three Auckland University law students. These three females take on the roles of Thicke, Williams, and T.I. by being in control of and touching three half-naked men. The video is over-thetop in the best way, and the lyrics are powerful and funny. It’s great to see the role reversals and how alarming it is for some people to see women acting in such lewd ways, yet it is so common to see men having these roles in the media.

So, skip “Blurred Lines” altogether and check out “Defined Lines.” It’s in everyone’s best interests (both women AND men) to help stop this nonsense in the media of the exploitation of women by not watching videos like “Blurred Lines.”

The gaming dead gets hearts beating Heather Treaster Staff Writer hlt5557@lhup.edu Whether you watch it or not, we all know of the hugely popular show, The Walking Dead.

This week’s review focuses on a spin off video game, also called The Walking Dead. What’s particular about this game? It is available in the app store of Apple products.

Okay, now I know what you’re thinking.

“Is she really doing a video game review for a game I can play on my iPhone? How great can it really be?”

The answer: it’s just freaking awesome.

Designed by Telltale Games, the story starts out with a man, Lee, heading to prison after just being convicted of murder. (You find out he’s not a bad person, no worries.) The car he is in collides with a walker and he awakens hours later with a hurt leg.

He eventually makes his way to a house where he finds a young girl named Clementine.

After learning her parents are missing, he takes

her in and they spend the game meeting and saving others (including characters such as Herschel and Glenn), while also trying to survive themselves.

But what’s incredible about this game is not the plotline, but the graphics. I was absolutely stunned by the artistry involved in The Walking Dead. It’s really enough to give you nightmares, which on an iPhone, is a pretty difficult task.

The format of the game is very point and click (my favorite!) and there is a lot of quick decision making. There is a little bit of action involved as well; after all, it IS a game about the zombie apocalypse.

What’s best about it is that the first episode of the game is FREE! The four episodes that follow are $4.99 each, which in retrospect, is only twenty bucks for a video game. After the wild success of the iPhone version, the game was also released for almost every major platform, including Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Overall, I would give this game 9 out of 10, and highly recommend it to just about anyone, even those whose video game experience consists of Candy Crush.

EDM isn’t the only music that has been referencing the drug. The rap and pop scene are guilty as well. Miley Cyrus has been accused of referencing the drug in her summer hit We Can’t Stop singing “We like to party, dancing with molly.” In rapper Trinidad James’ hit All Gold Everything the chorus repeats “Pop a molly I’m sweating.”

Like clothing and slang, drugs change with the trends. Over the last year or so a new drug called Molly has hit the mainstream and been showing up all over pop culture. The drug is a new form of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) or Ecstasy, and creates a euphoric and affectionate feeling. While the drug is similar to Ecstasy it comes in a crystal powdery form as opposed to pill.

Molly has a reputation of being safer and more pure than other drugs but that couldn’t be further from the truth. It raises your body temperature as well as dehydrating you which can have

a deadly effect. “The name itself makes it sound so innocent,” said Matthew Kowalchuk a senior recreation major. Molly comes in a white powder which actually makes it easier to cut with other drugs.

Recently the drug has entered into the spotlight due to both overdoses and deaths becoming more and more common. This past Labor Day weekend, at a music festival called Electric Zoo in New York, two people died due to apparent overdoses of the drug. The festival was shut down a day early.

What can you fit worthwhile into a six second video clip?

Well you would be surprised after watching some of the videos on the popular new app called Vine. Released in January, the eight month old app is gaining popularity by the minute and currently has over 40 million registered users.

Vine, owned by Twitter, has

a similar feel to the widely popular hashtag creator. For example, when watching a Vine, one can “revine” (similar to a “retweet”), comment or simply “like” a post. And of course, hashtags are always welcome.

This app allows you to share videos with friends or strangers around the world. Famous artists, singers and comedians have also found themselves using the app.

It may seem like a short span but many artists use their six seconds to reach out to their fans. Artists post song clips, give a glimpse into award

shows or share parts of their everyday life.

“Six seconds is the new black,” said actor Adam Goldberg according to http://www.npr.org.

Adam Goldberg is famous in the world of Vine with over 173.7K followers following (followers following?) his creative and funny video clips.

Freshman, Megan Frank, said “It’s just an app, but you can do some fun stuff with it.”

Vine has recently received some competition from the app, Instagram. Facebook, who owns Instagram, has also recently added a video feature that captures 15 second clips.

It is hard to tell which app

will come out on top when it comes to video sharing, but according to Hofauer, “Instagram video is just a knockoff Vine.”

“Sometimes there is really inappropriate stuff that I don’t need to see,” said freshman Olivia Parks when sharing some of the app’s downfalls.

It is hard to tell how popular this app will get, but it seems to have potential.

“Oh yeah it will continue to be popular, it is too new,” said Hofauer.

Six seconds doesn’t seem long enough for anything to catch your attention but you might be surprised with what can be done with this app.

Brooke Kibler Staff Writer bkibler@lhup.edu We all have mixed feelings about college relationships; whether you’re just a ‘thing’ or celebrating another year, an attempt at a fun and healthy love life may add some ups and downs.

While open relationships can get messy, and monogamous relationships are pretty cut and dry,long distance relationships seem to be a test of trust and love.

“Time keeps everything in the relationship fresh,” said Brandon a junior health and physical education major who wishes to keep his last name anonymous.

Many students are in a long distance relationship because moving to college can quickly take us away from those we love. Times may get tough but with love and dedication on both sides any relationship can flourish.

“Every time I get home and get to see her, it means we have overcome an obstacle which only makes us stronger as a couple,” said Santana.

Distance, no matter how far, can be tricky. Natalie Savage,

a senior recreation management major, feels there are no perks to a long distance relationship.

“Not having a hug when you are sad,[or] a kiss good night,” is the hardest part for Vicky Kramer,early childhood education major.

“More arguments have sparked and jealousy has increased a bit,” said Chris Santana, freshman health science major.

Along with figuring out how to be apart, and keeping the romance alive, you learn a lot about yourself in a long distance relationship. You learn time management so that you get work done and still have time to talk to your significant other.

“I have learned how to cherish all of the time we get to spend together and make as many memories as life allows” says Kramer.

No matter how far apart, the common thought is that distance is the true test. “This will be a test to see if we truly are meant to be,” said Brandon to his girlfriend before they parted for college.

Neat neutrals in season

Nail polish trends this fall are edgy with a natural twist. Famous designers such as Kate Spade, Oscar de la Renta and Betsy Johnson have paired their runway ready lines with delicate neutral tones.

The nails are topped with 3D touches such as studs or lace and lovely chic twists on the typical black nail lacquer.

This ‘how to’ was inspired by the Oscar de la Renta fall nail trend of leaving the nail moons bare and filling in the rest of the bed with shiny black polish.

I used Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Extreme Wear in Black Out and New York Color in Prospect Park Bloom.

To begin, remove any nail polish from your nails and then cover with a base coat. I use Sally

Hansen Double Duty as it is a base and top coat, it packs more bang for your buck.

Once your base coat has dried, top with at least two coats of a black polish of your choice, and before the polish has fully set, take a plastic spoon upside down so that you can essentially pull off the polish in a half circle shape.

After you have removed the half-moon of polish, clean up the area with a small paint brush dipped in nail polish remover.

This will ensure that the nail stays clean and professional looking.

Continue this method on each of your nails and from here you can add a dot of light pink color into the half-moon.

Dab the color on and pull the applicator brush across the shape, tracing the line you made with the nail polish remover.

Finish off your nail with a top coat that can be replaced every other day to ensure longevity.

The price of our historical legacy

My trips through downtown Williamsport lately have been a source of woe and contempt as I shake an angry fist at the demolition site of my favorite parking garage. I once spent a lot of late nights alone on its roof, taking in the light show of cars on route 220 or losing myself in thought staring at the Genetti’s bright red sign.

Fortunately for me, a new parking garage is going up in its place which is likely to serve me and the city just the same as its predecessor. But imagine the nightmare it would be if everyone had the same emotional connection to the first one as I do. Someone would have to make a pretty convincing argument that it was unworthy of salvaging and restoring.

One man’s trash is another’s treasure, so the well-worn saying goes. Value is subjective. To combat discrepancies about value on a large scale,

we have enacted laws dictating criteria for evaluating worth, including building codes and welfare laws. The rest is left to the courts.

This has been the struggle for residents of Bellefonte fighting to save the historic Garman Theatre. Last September, it sustained serious damage when the adjoining Hotel Do De caught fire, and control of both properties was turned over to the area’s Industrial Development Authority. They began accepting proposals and bids on the properties.

Presently, the Hotel Do De is owned by a local developer, Ara Kervandijian who is also on his way to owning the Garman. His plan is to raze both buildings, renovate another building and combine the properties to collectively form the Bellefonte Mews, intended to be apartments for working class families.

It sounds quaint, sweet even when ignoring that it is a plan to destroy something of immense historical value. The Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association has been fighting tenaciously to save the Garman. They devised a plan to renovate

and restore the Garman, keeping the sacred site intact and turning it into a community arts center.

Already the idea has generated a ton of local support and prompted donations that almost fully meet the project’s estimate. Kervandijian has yet to secure financing to carry forward his plans for redevelopment.

And yet board members of the IDA feel that thus far unfinanced apartments would better benefit the community fiscally. County court is siding with them, citing trivial bureaucratic fluff as a reason to deny the BHCA’s request to take the matter to court.

You should be horrified. Fact is, fast-cash is swaying our judges away from justice, a bribe which is sentencing death to all icons of our history. Don’t think that this one fire-damaged old building represents the minority; it is only the first of many mistakes we will one day regret when our collective purse-strings feel less strained. Relinquishing our past today, we modify the American mantra: with liberty and justice for money makers.

I grew up in the time of great television shows like“Full House”, “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air”, and one of my personal favorites, “Boy Meets World”.

After ending its seven year run in 2000, the show and cast members remained quiet.

In 2012, gossip began to spread about a sequel. Before long, rumors were confirmed by creator Michael Jacobs that a show titled “Girl Meets World” was in the works for a pilot episode, including former cast members. In the months following, “Girl Meets World” was picked up by the Disney Channel and is set to air sometime in 2014.

Being an enormous “Boy Meets World” fan, I was ecstatic to hear the news! It’s something I’ve been hoping for since the final episode aired 13 years ago. “Girl Meets World” centers on Cory and Topanga’s daughter, Riley and her best friend. Cory, now a middle school history teacher (oh the irony) and Topanga, an entrepreneur must face the task of parenting a teenager.

I almost cannot contain my

excitement! Whether it lives up to the “Boy Meets World” legacy or only lasts a few seasons, for a die-hard fan being given the opportunity to see Cory and Topanga together again could never be a bad thing.

This is the greatest TV news in a very long time. My friend Lindsay Fanella, a junior at Bloomsburg University has said she thinks that the sequel is a good idea. She believes, “The show taught us valuable life lessons about family, friends, love, and sex.”

Anne Marie Kramer, a mother of two who is very familiar with “Boy Meets World” remembers watching the show with her daughters as a Friday night tradition.

Kramer said, “I am glad to see Cory and Topanga in the reverse roles, now themselves parents. I hope that this series is as enjoyable to a younger generation and families alike as “Boy Meets World” was to my own.”

There are so many unanswered questions that I have about the series.“Girl Meets World” may or may not answer all of them. Regardless, the series premiere cannot come soon enough. Whether critics give the show one star or five, for better or worse, I will not miss it for anything!

than saving to a hard drive (which can die at any moment, taking your college career with it).

Students taking a class that requires something like MyAccountingLab will need to use a different computer, but since those assignments don’t often take more than half an hour, the Chromebook is still used more than anything else.

In one sense, the Chromebook could seem limiting. Once I got used to the setup, however, I found that the vast majority of tasks were totally manageable.

Because of the way it works, the Chromebook is faster than any other device I own. It doesn’t do everything, but what it does do, it excels at.

I recommend the Chromebook to any student who wants something fast, reliable and productive. I would also recommend you spring for the 3G option, if possible. I haven’t had to use it too much, but I like being able to check my emails while I’m on the road (and someone else is driving).

Plus, if the school’s internet, in some freak event, were ever to fail, I would still be able to do homework.

Starting at just $200, Chromebooks undoubtedly offer the greatest value in a computer.

Not being able to install Minecraft may seem like a disadvantage, but I consider it a major benefit; unless I want to get out my MacBook, I’m forced to be slightly more productive.

Students looking for a new laptop may have been curious or confused about Google’s Chromebook. As the owner of Apple, Linux, and Windows devices, I’d like to offer my input on the most efficient and worthwhile laptop I’ve ever owned.

The major source of contrast between the Chromebook and all aforementioned systems is its inability to install software.

This means the Chromebook relies almost exclusively on web-based applications. It also means you’re incredibly unlikely to get viruses-it’s probably the safest commer People say there’s nothing to do on campus and around Lock Haven.

The Lady Eagles field hockey game on Sept. 11 wasn’t just another game from Mallory Weisen.

She was coaching against her alma mater, Penn State. Weisen is in her fourth year as assistant coach for the Lady Eagles field hockey team.

During Weisens time at PSU, she was named 2007 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Third Team All- American. She also had other numerous individual awards and helped her team to success.

Game prep was always awkward for Coach Weisen, when she first started coaching against PSU because many of the players were her teammates.

“When I first started coaching, a lot of the players I coached against were my teammates, but it gets easier and easier every year,” said Weisen. “It’s very exciting to coach against PSU.” Weisen had a little advantage in the beginning.

“I personally knew the tendencies of my former teammates, but now that I don’t know the players, I don’t feel as bad coaching against them,” she said. “It became more of a coaching perspective opposed to a teammate player prospective,” said Weisen.

As an athlete, one would never imagine possibly coach against a program that was his or her alma mater.

“Again, it’s easier to not coach against my teammates, but whenever we don’t play PSU I’m always cheering for them,” said Weisen. “But I would love to beat them.”

Weisen also coached against her former head coach, Charlene Morett. Weisen mentioned how much she has grown from a player to a coach.

“After you become a coach, you start to put in perspective why your coach would change or do certain things,” Weisen said. “You start to get it and you start to see the bigger picture. When you are a player, you don’t realize the decisions your coaches make.”

“But thinking back now, I have applied many aspects I have learned from Coach Morett to my own coaching,” Weisen said. “I tend to say the same things she would tell me as a player.”

Lone senior Kelly Harsh mentioned, “In games she helps us by telling us where to go and what we should do. She motivates us and stays positive.”

After a hard-fought game, the Eagles fell to PSU 3-0.

Morett had kind words for her former player.

“Pride,” she said.. “She has a pride for her former players. I hope the girls look up to Mallory and hope that she continues to grow, and that one day she will become a head coach.”

Lock Haven (5-2) outshot Siena (0-4) 12-3 and scored three first-half goals on the way the Lady Eagles third shutout of the season.

LHU got goals from Kelly Harsh (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor), Colleen McCabe (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./William Tennent), Rachel Valentine (Souderton, Pa./Souderton), Kiersten Cepeda

(Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and Brittany Harlos (Stockholm, N.J./ Wallkill Valley).

Lock Haven jumped on Siena early, scoring in the 13th and 18th minutes of play.

Starting goalie Elaina White (Etters, Pa./Red Land) was forced to make only one save in her fifth win of the year.

This was the third out of three games for the Lady Eagles after a loss against PSU last Wednesday (Sept. 11), 3-0, and a win against Colgate in overtime on Saturday (September 14), 3-2.

Lock Haven returns to action this Sunday, Sept. 22 when the Lady Eagles host Robert Morris at 11 a.m.

Eagles sustain top rank in region Doug Spatafore Sports Information Dspatafo@lhup.edu The Lock Haven University men’s cross country team remains at No. 2 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Atlantic Region rankings.

Lock Haven is coming off a win at the Division II Challenge on Saturday and the Bald Eagles sit behind only rivalEdinboro in the poll.

LHU was first of 13 teams on Saturday and beat the likes of Shippensburg, East Stroudsburg, California (Pa.), Kutztown, Wheeling Jesuit and Bloomsburg, all of whom are ranked in this week’s top-10.

Edinboro is coming off a second-place finish at the UM Parkside Midwest Open on Saturday, losing to only Divi-

sion I Butler.

Edinboro, Lock Haven and Shippensburg, who sit 1-2-3, respectively in this week’s Atlantic Region poll, have combined to win the last five regional championships.

LHU is currently ranked 14th in Division II.

Brandon Brader (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) recorded his second straight two-touchdown game, but it was enough for the Lock Haven University football team as the Bald Eagles fell to former PSAC Western Division rival Clarion, 30-13 on the road.

Brader rushed for 121 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries. He also caught one touchdown pass for his second straight two-TD game.

His 121 rushing yards helped him surpass the 2,000 yard mark for his career. He now has 2,014 career rushing yards and is ranked No. 6 on Lock Haven’s all-time career rushing list.

Brader also caught a 14-yard TD pass from Dillon Mazzoni (Melbourne, Fla./Shippensburg Univ.) with 35 seconds left in the first half to put LHU on the board. The touchdown made it 17-6 Clarion at the break.

After a scoreless first quarter, Clarion scored 17 point in the second half and the Golden Eagles

tacked on six in the third quarter to pave the way for the victory.

LHU didn’t go away however and Brader’s 45yard TD run early in the fourth quarter cut the lead to just 23-13.

Bobby Thomas’s 37-yard touchdown run with just under nine minutes to play help Clarion hold off the LHU rally.

Mazzoni was 12-of-23 passing for 149 yards in his second career start. He passed for one TD and had one interception.

Jesse Hoover (Curwensville, Pa./Curwensville) made a game-high seven catches for 79 yards.

Tony Ballon (Jersey City, N.J./Harrisburg) had another big night for LHU on defense and finished with a team-high 10 tackles.

Matt Kirchner (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) was also solid with nine tackles, including one sack.

Lock Haven returns home this Saturday, Sept.

21 for LHU’s 2013 Community Day. The Bald Eagles host Cheyney at 6 p.m. Admission and parking will be free for everyone.

Soccer goes 2-4 in weekend PSAC action Women’s soccer (Friday): Women’s soccer (Saturday): The Lock Haven University women's soccer team scored a goal in each half and the Lady Eagles picked up their first win of the 2013 season as LHU shutout Pitt-Johnstown, 2-0.

Lock Haven (1-1-1, 1-1-1 PSAC) got goals from Madison Taylor (Monaca, Pa./Center) and Taylor Ludlam (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink) to lead LHU head coach Lynnette Reitz to her first career win as head coach.

The Lady Eagles dominated host and PSAC newcomer UPJ (0-3-0, 0-3-0 PSAC) in shots at 22-7 and went up 1-0 in the 31st minute when Taylor headed home a pass from Harley Rolph (Newton, N.J./Kittantinny Regional).

Ludlam made it 2-0 in the 54th minute and Dana Wozniak (Blackstone, Mass./Mount St. Charles Academy) made four saves for Lock Haven's first shutout of the year.

Men’s soccer (Saturday): The Lock Haven University men's soccer team dropped Carson a O’Neill road PSAC match to Seton Hill on Saturday, 3-1.

Despite outshooting Seton Hill (3-1, 2-0 PSAC) 19-9, Lock Haven (2-1, 1-1 PSAC) couldn't find the back of the net more than once today.

Lock Haven's goal came from Adam Supplee (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) in the 24th minute. He took a pass from Jacob Oldaker (Elliotsburg, Pa./West Perry) and put LHU up 1-0.

Seton Hill tied the match late in the first half and the hosts scored two second half goals for the win.

LHU goalie Brad Sumski (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) made four saves.
