FASHION THAT FOLLOWS NO RULES

For as long as time, there has been fashion It existed long before there was actually a name for it

Fashion has been used as tool to indicate a specific time period, world event, or culture It connects generations, tells stories, and is impacted by every thing happening in the world

Everything? Yes, everything

How do we recognize nurses, doctors, firefighters, and sports players? Uniforms their "fashion" In fact you may not even know that fashion is heavily influenced by the uniform styles of professionals, making it practical

So what's different? Has fashion changed?

Simply stated, fashion will continue to change to reflect those who are wearing it, the world, the creative direction of designers and culture What is different is that for the first time ever, the fashion of our youth is reflective of every single time period in our lives A huge mashup

FASHION THAT FOLLOWS NO RULES

Innovative to some and overwhelming for others, this generation of fashion reflects inspiration from every generation that has come before them They quite literally can go into their mothers and grandmother's closets and wear the items Mix them with today's energy and be fashionable

Baby boomers are cringing at seeing their teenage trends resurface such as the wide leg trousers, shiny metallic skirts, and sweater vests but there are no more rules You can wear anything and no one will really think you ' re off trend! Long gone are the days of being scorned for wearing last seasons shoes

Pearls from the 20's, Tweed from the 1800's, Braids from the 90's, and shoulder pads from the 80's All of these are key points in Asia's look Every era working in harmony

History and fashion is repeating itself like it never has before

Secret Style Tip

HAVE A FASHION QUESTION YOU ARE AFRAID TO ASK?

DON'T WORRY, WE'LL KEEP YOUR SECRET. AND YOU'LL KEEP OURS!

ASK AWAY...DON'T WORRY WHO ANSWERS!

Question: How often should I go shopping for clothes? Do I buy new clothes when the season changes?

Answer: So here's my thought I love shopping I try and shop as less as possible but it doesn't work At least three times a week I'm buying something! Some things I don't even need at the moment but I feel like if it's a good deal, get it while the getting is good!

A lot of times you can find things that you don't need at the moment but they come right in handy

And I do buy different things seasonal but I try to get everything all year long I don't care what season it is Especially if I can get it on the low

So if you have a little extra change to spare here and there and you see something that you like get it it compliments you GET IT - No one can treat you like you Seasons aren't really as separate as they seem syou can always mix and match

THE FACE BEHIND THE CAMERA, SCREEN OR BEAUTY BEAT!

RICAN ROSE

Sometimes people are placed in y y nity of the chance Rose, or Rican Rose, is one of the many amazing chances that have had a personal hand in the growth of Lex Styles Aside from being one of my best friends, Rose is directly responsible for the photography , edits and creative direction in it's earlier years She even shifted from behind the screen and modeled in our first style campaign

Rose is nothing short of a creative powerhouse, wrapped in just about 5 feet

Aside from her part in Lex Styles Mag, she has strengthened her knowledge, talent and skills She is a licensed hairstylist, estetcian and makeup artist who specializes and gets joy from creating editorial hair styles and exaggerated makeup Color, cuts, and a little edge She's the girl willing to go where others aren't She's went on to work in editorial shoots, fashion shows, and events

Having the strength of knowing how things will portray on the camera, what angles compliment the model combined with the necessary edits, well as what makeup and hairstyles will directly enhance the scene there's very little room for error in her realm

If you ' re looking for a creative to enhance your photoshoots, costume designs, or music videos-Rose is the girl for the job!

So how can you find her? She is currently based in Tucson, Arizona Check out her instagram to connect

WHAT FASHION AESTHETIC GROUP DO YOU FALL INTO?

We all have our own personal style, but sometimes our style can be similar to others, or some of us don't know where our style fits in at

If you ' re trying to find your fashion aesthetic group or find fashion styles similar to yours this is the article for you

There are many fashion groups but i'm going to give you the top four categories: GirlyGirl, Streetwear, Gothic and Hippie.

Starting with my favorite fashion aesthetic group,Girly/Softgirl This group is into neutral colors and/or pastel colors We are all about soft glam, silk fabric and stilettos We are a mixture of conservative and sexy, not too much but not too little If this sounds like your style this might be your fashion aesthetic group

Streetwear is casual fashionable everyday wear Typically people who fall under this group wear sweatpants, cargo pants, sneakers, and oversized hoodies This category can be sexy as well as tomboyish depending on your personal style This fashion aesthetic group started in the 80s when HipHop was becoming mainstream in music

Time With FirstNameJohnson

Tell me a bit about yourself first. Who is Johnson behind the camera, at home, with cozy pajamas on, in his safe space?

Such an easy question can always be so daunting “tell me about yourself”, my name is Johnson but the world knows me as “firstname” or “Firstnamejohnson” I am a college graduate with my bachelors in Computer Science and minor in Math and Physics That’s the resume answer, in my opinion, I’ll try to stay away from that

I am a fun, outgoing, individual who loves to travel I like being around people, it feeds my creativity I find enjoyment in the little things from making time for my hobbies, spending time with family and friends, to taking care of myself I have a life long goal of helping people I know how hard it was for me to navigate the world Working in corporate America and being an influencer is something many individuals aspire for My goal is to help people reach their goals or at least try, because many are scared to take those first steps

Is there any song you’d consider the “soundtrack to your life”?

Who is your biggest fashion inspiration? How important of a role has this person played in how you interpret fashion?

Russell Westbrook! I have been a fan of Westbrook as a basketball player and most importantly fashion since I was in highschool He made the NBA pregame walkway what it is today Through him I got my interpretation that fashion is what you feel comfortable in, what drives your confidence, and that fashion to is art. I had to learn Art is subjective Art is based off of feelings and emotions during that specific moment Relating back to fashion, what ever emotion you feel and have at the time you are picking your outfit is depicted through out the day Fashion is SUBJECTIVE

Where did fashion & creativity begin for you? Was it always supported by those around you?

Fashion began for me in highschool I use to model and did a couple runway shows when I was young Taking this whole ideal of creativity through my Instagram and fashion started January 2022 People will bash you when they don’t see your vision/ goals Graduating highschool the plan was to go to the New York School of Fashion My trajectory changed when I remembered I was African “Engineer or Doctor”- says every African Parent Despite the shift in mindset, my goals never quivered I knew what I wanted; for every set back, there’s a comeback After I graduated college and satisfied my parents initial purpose of coming to America, I decided to step out of my comfort zone With every step my creativity broadened, but the shift is never easy among your peers First it’s “why do you? This is trash Go back to coding” Next it’s “how did you?” I payed no attention to that knowing THE WORLD WILL EVENTUALLY CATCH UP

Describe a struggle you’ve faced within the fashion industry and how you’ve overcame it?

Fashion is a world of its own You have to come in there knowing what you want and who you are or you will lose track of yourself You are in competition with the best That is how the world was designed Every thing is a competition “Competitive wages, competitive environment” these are just some examples that are blatantly in our face daily With the fashion industry you have to show up for the first 5 years of your life and expect nothing in return except for life long lessons I have seen some people take the side road and did some extreme things just to start getting paid and dodge the “5 year ” mark That is where people lose who they are Know what you want and have a limit of how far you are willing to go to get it, if you don’t , that’s when you start getting used

What’s it truly feel like being behind the camera as a Man?

Women tend to be hyper-focused on flaws and hiding such, is that the same feeling for a man influencer?

It takes some getting use to When I started I use to take focus of my voice because my accent will come in now and then Sometimes I would like to have a fresh haircut before getting on camera All this is just in the beginning stages The more you do this the less you are about such things Like everything, it takes repetition to become great

Do you feel as beautiful as your fans, friends and family say you are?

YES!

Do you have a go-to outfit? Something you always know will work?

When in doubt, I like all black Maybe throw on some Jordan Mochas or alternate my shoes but when I get really stuck I go with all black for sure

What would you consider your personal style?

My style consist of multiple things I am very versatile I like a nice suit but I also like the whole street vibe Sometimes I just want to be comfortable so having nice sweats or tracksuit is essential I wont say I have a specific style because I know I can put on ANYTHING!

Does your work out regime align with your fashionable influence? What days the worst for you? Leg or Arm or Core?

Yes and NO Like I mentioned before, I workout for myself and my confidence and that transition into the whole fashion field You have to be confident with what you wear The down side is as you workout your body changes so you have to constantly keep changing sizes

So a nice pair of Jeans can go to a pair you hate within a month My worst days are Legs

If you could leave my audience with one affirmation, what would it be?

Define your definition of success Have goals, write them down, and look at them everyday (until you drill it in your head) Time is the most precious thing in life; the more you can use your time for yourself towards your goals and less for others , the closer you will get towards your definition of success ps success is not always monetary value

"Finances is not the highest form compensation, fulfillment is if you can get fulfilled on the inside it becomes easier to get "bread" on the outside because you are not chasing the bag, you ' re chasing purpose and when you catch purpose you get the bag " -someone said something along those lines and I 100 percent agree

Designers are the key to creation. They are the creatives brave enough to imagine fashion in different elements. Watch Their Art Come To Life.

At first glance Tilda is calm with gentle eyes, a soft tone, her hands in her pockets, and noticeably fly You know the kind of fly that makes you wonder, what designer is that?

As she waited backstage at LAFW, other designers and models scrambling, ironing, pinning and sewing, Tilda sat intently as she awaited her models No frantic researching of her designs, or running to the car and each outfit in a separate garment bag with the appropriate models name She was ready Again, noticeably ready and intriguing

As the show time gets closer, Tilda’s energy shift She is the designer and in full control She dressed each model swiftly and fittingly Tilda was proud of her designs and her energy and preparation showed She was humble, before the show, taking pictures with models

Her show was flawless, models amazing, and it was art Each piece showed her creativity Each piece made you wonder Just where did this gal come from and what is Uhahnna

Meet Tilda Boyd, Designer Of Uhahnna. After the show, I got to connect and ask her a couple questions to highlight her brand. Sit on down and check her out.

I think a lot of inspiration for my designs comes first from my dad’s fashion flare He always had a style all his own and I love it I also take inspiration from a lot of things in my environment Building architecture, the way colors collide in an art piece, even the way the clouds might look on a given day Speaking of art, I also am very inspired by Basquiat There was emotion and a story behind every piece of this work that I am very drawn to When it comes to the textiles I use, I look for unique patterns, how the fabric looks and feels against my skin

INTRODUCING UHAHNNA
I am very inspired by Basquiat. There was emotion and a story behind every piece of this work that I am very drawn to.

My personal style is bold and loud, and I love creating upcycled outfits from recycled fabrics One of my favorite fabrics to wear and work with is denim I love denim, all shades I really like its texture and weight I love to create my own clothes using recycled pairs of denim jeans that I cut up into different shapes and sizes and then sew all the pieces together to make a garment that is also a piece of art I’m a big fan of dressing comfortably, but also being fly at the same time Of course, I never want to have the same outfit on as somebody else My clothes are definitely the way I express my personality to the world

Music Is A Powerful Tool

I love listening to old school 70’s and 80’s music when I design This is the music that puts me into my creative space Some of my favorite artists to listen to while designing are Michael and Janet Jackson, Queen Latifah, Soul for Real, and Bell Biv Devoe Sometimes I like to groove and dance while creating – music and designing really puts me in the zone where nothing else matters in that moment

The values I consider to be top 3 are respect, courage, and honesty. Respect is huge for me I was always raised to treat others as you want to be treated and still firmly believe this is a rule to live by – accept others for who they are and treat everyone with the dignity and respect you would expect from them If I didn’t have courage, I wouldn’t be where I am today I know I must put myself in uncomfortable situations/places so I can keep evolving My parents always taught me to step outside of my comfort zone and that is where great things will happen Honesty is right up there with respect as one of the most important moral values It means being truthful and fair in all your dealings with other people Like just being willing to admit when you have made a mistake Failure to own up to a mistake may end up costing someone else big time I will have so much more respect for someone if they were to be completely honest with me, than someone that beat around the bush when there’s an issue
