BRIEF FACTS ็ Pat's was originally a hot dog stand before it became a cheeseseteak restaurant ็ Pat created the cheesesteak back in 1930 ็ Pat's is still owned and operated by the Olivieri Family ็ Geno's was founded in 1966 by Joey Vento ็ Joey decided to name his son Geno and geno grew up helping his dad in the restuarant ็ Geno has now taken over his dad's shop after Joey's passing in 2011

HISTORY OF SITE Geno's and Pat's are two cheesesteak restaurants facing eachother on the intersection of 9th and Passyunk. While there is said to be a competitive nature between the two, they are very similar. Both these restaurants have been passed down through generations giving them a caring, familial atmosphere. Both restaurants also have people who believe their cheesesteaks are the best in the world, meaning that Pat's and Geno's use color, which has become more vibrant through time, to attract patrons.

SITE ATMOSPHERE My expectations when going to Pat's and Geno's was a competitive atmosphere between two cheesesteak restaurants. Once I arrived, the site felt more like one space than two separate places. I felt as if I was looking at a mirror image, people waited, hungry and cold, in line for a cheesesteak from one of these vibrant restaurants. Overall, the neon signs and colors within the buildings gave the site a very bright and vivid feel drawing the audience in and making them hungry.Throughout my designs, I attempted to capture the vibrant, singular feeling of the space.
