Maintaining clean air, both indoors and outdoors, is essential for our health and well-being. Poor air quality can lead to allergies or other respiratory issues Although outdoor air quality is influenced by a variety of factors, we can all take practical steps to keep our air clean
Reduce the amount of time you are driving alone. Join a vanpool, take public transportation, carpool, ride your bike, or walk.
Avoid letting your car idle When you arrive at your destination, turn your car off right away. Idling your car reduces fuel economy, costs money, and contributes to pollution. Minimize emissions from waste. Compost your produce scraps and yard waste, and reuse and recycle when possible.
Indoor air can contain a variety of pollutants, including pet dander and mold Address these common pollutants and take steps to reduce them to improve the air quality in your home.
Ventilation is one of the easiest ways to improve indoor air quality If weather permits, open doors and windows, and always run kitchen and bathroom exhaust fans when cooking or showering. Also, change air filters often, and if needed, purchase a portable air cleaner
Decluttering, dusting with a damp rag, and vacuuming keeps allergens, pests, and pollutants away. Consider minimizing the use of strong chemical cleaners Try a mild soap and water instead, and never mix chemicals Also, remember to ventilate when cleaning. Keeping indoor moisture under control is important to prevent mold. Fix water leaks right away and keep humidity levels between 30 and 50%. If necessary, use a dehumidifier.
Taking proactive steps to improve both outdoor and indoor air quality is essential in creating environments that support our health and the planet’s future.
Children’s Waiting Room is a child care program located in or near military health care facilities that allows parents to attend scheduled appointments without the stress of having to find child care outside of the hospital. This program improves access to health care by removing lack of child care as a barrier, allowing service members and spouses to make their health and wellbeing a priority.
“I love
this option at the hospital.
It
makes doctor appointments a breeze! Thank you so much for having this available for us!”
