December 10 A thirteen year old growing up in a working class Moroccan Israeli community , is selected for the great honor of carrying the big Torah book around the neighborhood in ‘Simchat Torah’ celebrations; he feels life is finally about to change for the better. But this selection causes age old family tensions and unwelcomed responsibilities. A sensational story of empowerment, triumph over loss, and coming of age.

Kapo in Jerusalem, 2015, 98 min

January 7 In this exploration of moral and survival dilemmas, two Auschwitz survivors arrive in Jerusalem in 1946. Bruno is a doctor and Sarah a pianist. Trying to rehabilitate their lives in a city under siege during the War of Independence, a rumor spreads by a few survivors, that Bruno abused them while he was a kapo or bloc head in the camp. Based on a true story.

Amor, 2016, 90 min

February 11 Like its title, Amor asks the viewer to consider the true nature of love. After three years Daniel, an artist returns home to his small farming village in Israel. Meanwhile, we meet the Frizer family, whose beautiful daughter, Lila, a former dancer, is now paralyzed and wants to end her life. Those who love her refuse, protesting that religious law prohibits euthanasia. This lyrical and beautifully shot drama explores the depths of what love sometimes demands of us, and how memories are simultaneously both fragile and fleeting, but sometimes all we have.

Tuviansky, 2014, 82 min

April 8 In 1948 six weeks after the state of Israel was established, Tuviansky, a captain in the Israeli army and a former major in the British army was arrested. Within four hours he was interrogated, tried, sentenced, executed and his body was thrown into a pit in the ground. Tuviansky was accused of treason because he had innocently supplied a list of vital information to his British boss at the power plant. A year later, Tuviansky was completed exonerated. His executioners were either lightly punished or not at all. Based on a true story.
