The Best Places to live in Cyprus 1. Paphos Paphos is a lovely coastal city in the southwest of Cyprus and, as legends say, the birthplace of Aphrodite.

The town has good infrastructure and amenities – from shopping malls and shops to modern hospitals and decent road connections. Paphos International Airport is just 15 minutes' drive from the town centre and a modern highway links the Paphos district to the whole of Cyprus.

There's a lot going on in Paphos itself to sustain life there. There is a lot of lush green countryside in the area, lovely villages and beautiful beaches, including the famous Coral Bay. 2. Limassol Limassol combines local nightlife with a family-friendly atmosphere, creating an excellent destination. One of the island's largest cities, it also has waterparks, restaurants, beaches and historical attractions, especially the ruins of Amathus to the east. Most of the hotels and tourist facilities are around the eastern part of the city, too.

3. Nicosia Nicosia is the divided capital city of Cyprus. It lies inland and therefore it can get hotter than the seaside in summer. It is much less visited by tourists, despite its unique history and culture, preferring the seaside resorts and towns. Nicosia is the business and financial centre of the Republic of Cyprus, as well as the administrative heart. The city offers great entertainment, vibrant nightlife, excellent shopping and a choice of leisure activities.

4. Larnaca Most visitors to Cyprus will see Larnaca, even if it's just from the plane landing at the island's main airport. However, it's got a lot going for it as a destination in its own right, including one of the finest city beaches in Europe – Finikoudes. Further inland, a vast Salt Lake is well worth seeing from the ground as well as on final approach to the airport.

The city is a popular destination as a mooring spot for luxury yachts. The harbour is surrounded by chic cafés and stylish boutiques. The city is also home to some of the most historic religious sites in Cyprus.

Cyprus property sales hit €1.3bn in first quarter of 2022 Property sales in Cyprus reached €1.3 billion during the first quarter of 2022, according to a report by the land registry. According to the data, a total of 5,258 property sales took place during this time in Cyprus, with the total value of transactions reaching €1.272 billion. “As expected, Limassol and Nicosia are responsible for the lion's share of property sales, while the other districts are moving quite positively as well,” the Real Estate Registration Council noted.

In Paphos apartment sales outnumbered those of houses in all the other districts. In the district of Limassol, both the number of total sales (1,581) and their total value, which amounted to €573 million in total, were higher than in any other district.

Particular interest was observed for agricultural fields (688) but also for plots of land (439). In Paphos, there were 887 property sales, while their total value reached €186 million. “It is noteworthy that Paphos recorded the highest number of home sales (247), more than any other district,” the council remarked.

Ryanair to fly to 32 destinations from Paphos in winter The Paphos tourism board (Etap) on Friday announced that Ryanair will fly to 32 international destinations from Paphos airport during its 20222023 winter schedule, with 90 flights every week during this time.

Etap managing director Nasos Hadjigeorgiou welcomed Ryanair's decision, saying that the destinations included in the airline's winter flight schedule will boost the status of Paphos airport.

Among other destinations, Ryanair will be flying to Germany, the United Kingdom, Poland, Israel, the Netherlands and Ireland. “Paphos tourism has already entered a new orbit and is closer to the goal of returning the destination to the levels of 2019, in operation all year round and with innovative actions to enrich the mixture of visitors and the other various functions it serves,” Hadjigeorgiou said.

Greek property second most affordable in EU, survey finds Greece is the second most affordable country in the European Union to buy a property, according to a new survey.

The study by Compare the Market analyzed average property prices per square meter, as well as the average disposable household income in each country to calculate the cost per sq.m. as a percentage of annual income.

Greece ranks eighth in the world (with 9.7%), with Latvia (9.6%) in seventh being the most affordable realty market in the EU. Greece’s average annual disposable income per household comes to €15,530 and the average property cost amounts to €1,593.3/sq.m.

Greece: The most popular holiday destination this year according to TUI - Crete being No.1 on the list Holiday group TUI expects the highest level of demand for Greece on record this year, its director of Communications Aage Duenhaupt told Athens news agency.

TUI is expected to bring around 3 million holidaymakers to Greece in total.
