Optional Reflection Group Guide
OPTIONAL REFLECTION GROUP GUIDE
This guide offers a structure for the three 30-minute reflection groups at the end of each day of the Playful Schools Conference. We invite you to follow the guide as written or to adapt it to best support your own learning. (Note: Each day includes Project Zero thinking routines to focus the conversation. To learn more about the routines, click on their link in the guide).

Introduction
Day 1 : More than one way to play
(5 MINUTES)
Introductions:
• Each person shares their name, role, and organization they work for, and the country they are currently in.
(3 MINUTES)
Chose facilitator and timekeeper:
• Facilitator - the person who has the most variety of colors in their virtual screen.
• Timekeeper - the person who has the least variety of colors in their virtual screen.
(5 MINUTES)
Headlines: Link
• Take a minute to think about a short, catchy “newspaperstyle” headline about something you learned today.
• Share your headlines. Elaborate if time allows.

(15 MINUTES)
Connect, Extend, Challenge:

• Jot down ideas for the following: (three minutes)
• How are the ideas you heard today connected with what you already knew?
• What new ideas extended your thinking?
• What challenges or questions emerged for you?
• Each person shares one response to any question in a quick round-robin to toss some ideas into play.
• Continue sharing and responding in an open discussion as time allows.
(Suggestion: the timekeeper gives a 3-minute wrap-signal. If there is someone in the group who hasn’t had much of an opportunity to talk, the facilitator can invite that person to share if they wish.)
(2 MINUTES)
Closing:
• Take some time to say goodbye and share contact information with the people in group if you want to invite continued connection.

DAY 1 : MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PLAY
Day 2: Play with a purpose
(5 MINUTES)
Introductions:
• Each person shares their name, role, and organization they work for, and the country they are currently in.
(3 MINUTES)
Chose facilitator and timekeeper:
• Select a random object within your reach. On the count of three, everyone show your object.
• Facilitator - the person holding the biggest object .
• Timekeeper - the person holding the smallest object.

Today will follow the same discussion structure as yesterday.

Headlines:

DAY 2: PLAY WITH A PURPOSE
Day 3: Play to change the world
(4 MINUTES)
Introductions:
• Each person shares their name, role, and organization they work for, and the country they are currently in.
(3 MINUTES)
Chose Facilitator and Timekeeper:
• Facilitator - the person who is closest to Denmark .
• Timekeeper - the person who is farthest from Denmark.
(This may yield inconclusive results, if so, determine another way to use location to make your choice or simply volunteer for roles.)

• Jot down ideas in response to “What can I do to support playful learning in: (three minutes)
• My inner circle (friends, family, colleagues)
• My community (school, workplace, neighborhood)
• The world (beyond my immediate environment)
