At Legacy Christian Academy, we believe that our youngest learners — just starting out on their educational journey — will change corners of the world near and far. This is reflected in our promise to every family enrolled at LCA:

We will know your child. We will love your child. We will prepare your child.

At our Early Learning Campus, students are nurtured by Christian teachers who are passionate about early childhood development. Treating each student as an individual uniquely created by God, they deliver an engaging academic curriculum that equips students to excel in preschool and beyond

Today, we will tell you about our programs and our intentionally designed Early Learning Campus. After reading, we hope you’ll take the next step and schedule a connection call with our LCA Admissions Team Most parents agree that exploring our facilities, meeting our teachers, and seeing the authentic joy our students experience allows them to make an enrollment decision with confidence.

Sincerely,

THE ACADEMIC FOUNDATION TO WALK CONFIDENTLY INTO KINDERGARTEN.

A biblical foundation to walk with Jesus for life.

At LCA, our early learning programs equip students to thrive in school, academically, socially, and emotionally. Our teachers go beyond preparing them for success in the classroom, inspiring them to live purposeful, Christ-centered lives.

PRE-K 3 PRE-K 4

An active learning environment where students are gently introduced to core subject areas and the rhythms of a school day, with plenty of time for exploration and play.

Does Your Child Have a Late Summer or Fall Birthday?

LCA also offers Junior Kindergarten, which is ideal for students who are already five years old but could benefit from the gift of time before entering kindergarten For more information about this program, pleasevisithere.

A structured kindergarten-prep program that equips students for academic success through handson experiences that foster a love for learning.

Optimal Class Sizes

Pre-K through Kindergarten classes range from 15-18 students per class. We are committed to a highlevel of individualized attention, and add teacher aides on an asneeded basis to ensure an intimate learning environment.

Spanish Immersion

An Enriching Experience

Preschool students enjoy a richly textured curriculum with specials such as library, technology, music and movement, P.E., art and science lab. They also attend weekly Chapel, worshiping together and learning about their place in God’s world.

Beginning in Kindergarten, families can enroll in our Spanish Immersion program, which allows students to learn a second language at the most natural time, while fostering cultural awareness and advanced cognitive skills. This program is fully immersive and all teachers are native Spanish speakers. Within the first 8 weeks, Spanish instruction and speaking is only used in the classroom Space is limited

A Proven Curriculum

We use the research-based Frog Street Press curriculum, which prepares students for kindergarten through strong foundations in early literacy, handwriting, math, science, social studies, and Bible.

21st-Century Learning

Recognizing the importance of skills that can only be cultivated through face-to-face interaction, we integrate technology intentionally Students use hands-on Promethean boards in the classroom, learn to conduct research in the library, and utilize technology iPads for specific lessons

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN LCA PRE-K STUDENT

7:30 EARLY DROP-OFF BEGINS

Working parents love our early drop-off option, which allows students to ease into their school day with teacher-led games or free play in our gymnasium.

8:00 ARRIVAL AND MORNING ACTIVITIES

When students arrive, they put away their belongings and choose one of our engaging table trays, which provide a gentle transition into the school day while fostering fine motor skills

8:35 MORNING MEETING

Morning meeting is an intentional time of community building that allows students to feel seen and heard We review our commitments for the day, sing a song together, and pray

8:45 BRAIN BREAK

Young students need multiple brain breaks We pause to provide short periods of rest and allow our students to use the bathroom multiple times throughout the day.

9:00 LEARNING STATIONS

Our innovative stations allow students to learn in the most developmentally appropriate way: through hands-on exploration. Many of our stations are STEAM-focused, emphasizing problem-solving.

9:30 CIRCLE TIME

Teachers utilize circle time to teach students life skills such as using a calendar, understanding the weather, and planning ahead.

10:00 SCIENCE OR MUSIC

Students rotate between an interactive science lesson, which often includes a trip to our greenhouse and music and movement, allowing students to learn new worship songs and get their wiggles out

10:30 RECESS

Young learners love this time of free play as we go outside to visit our safe, age-appropriate playground. If the weather doesn’t permit outdoor play, we head over to our indoor gym for fun games and activity time.

1:55 SNACK

Students bring a healthy snack to enjoy after they wake from their naps If a student did not nap, they may begin enjoying their snack as early as 1:30

2:20 CLEAN-UP TIME

While this schedule helps you envision the general flow of a day on our Early Learning Campus, the school year is enriched by numerous special events, traditions and class parties.

THE BEST FACILITIES FOR OUR BUDDING SCHOLARS

LCA is one connected campus community on three campuses. Our Lower, Middle, and Upper School students have always had their own campuses designed specifically for their unique developmental needs. Located just four minutes down the road, LCA’s Early Learning Campus (ELC) represents our commitment to providing the optimum environment for hands-on learning and development in the early years.

THE EARLY LEARNING CAMPUS FEATURES:

26,000-square-foot building in a safe, residential area

Nearly 3 acres of land for outdoor learning experiences

14 expansive classrooms

Two restrooms within each class, including in-classroom handwashing stations

Classrooms have carpeted and tiled spaces to accommodate discovery centers, arts, and crafts

A health clinic with a full-time nurse

A music room, gymnasium, library, and technology/robotics center

Secured playgrounds, a greenhouse, and garden areas

THE SAME LCA CULTURE ON AN INTENTIONALLY DESIGNED CAMPUS

The Early Learning Campus is an integral part of LCA’s community. While exclusively focused on preschool-age development, we foster a strong sense of connection by:

Allowing younger students to join the larger campus community for schoolwide events and traditions

Inviting older students to visit the ELC campus to host pep rallies, assist with fun events, and serve as role models for our youngest learners

Ensuring parents with students on multiple campuses receive seamless communication and updates regarding their children’s school life

PREPARING YOUR CHILD TO THRIVE IN PRESCHOOL

Dropping your child off at school for the first time can be exciting and a little daunting We get it! You want your child to thrive academically, make lots of new friends, and experience a smooth transition emotionally.

WHILE THERE’S ALWAYS AN ADJUSTMENT PERIOD, OUR EARLY LEARNING TEACHERS HAVE PUT TOGETHER SOME TIPS TO HELP YOU PREPARE YOUR CHILD FOR PRE-K!

Attend as many group activities as possible.

Whether it’s library storytime, a youth sport, or gymnastics class, group activities help students learn to function with the stimulation of many other children around, while practicing concepts like taking turns and being a good friend.

Emphasize being others-centered.

Young children can seem naturally self-centered; this is developmentally normal! Before moving into a school environment, talk with your child about how they can delay their non-immediate needs to consider the needs of others around them

Foster independence through everyday tasks.

Putting away blocks before moving onto cars, setting the table for dinner, zipping a jacket, or opening a lunchbox and water bottle these all help students move toward independence and school readiness.

Work with other parents on cooperative play.

Partner with other parents to schedule play dates that foster school readiness. Collaborative activities such as puzzles, scavenger hunts, or crafts can help students learn how to listen to other’s ideas, share tools, and be team players.

Master potty training.

Most Pre-K programs (including LCA) require students to be fully potty trained before the first day of school. If you’re thinking about preschool this year or next, put in the time to help your child use the restroom with as little assistance as possible.

Follow a consistent routine at home.

When it comesto school success, thevalue ofa routine cannot be overstated. Implement regular bedtimes and wake times, follow a meal schedule with healthy options that support energy, and provide a mix of structured and unstructured activities
