roots assembly of science teachers, and is now one of the premier science competitions in the nation, providing rigorous, standards-based challenges to 7,400 teams in 50 states. n A team from Langley High School won its second consecutive title in Division C of the Virginia Science Olympiad, hosted by the University of Virginia’s School of Engineering. The team now moves on to national competition, set to be held May 21 at the University of Wisconsin.

n On April 11, Boy Scout Troop 128 held a Court of Honor at St. John’s Episcopal Church in McLean to recognize the achievements of four new Eagle Scouts, marking only the second time in the 90year history of the troop that so many Eagle Scouts were honored at one time. New Eagle Scouts included George Carter of McLean High School and Reilly Jeddy, Marcus Riddle and Ryan Riddle of Langley High School. The ceremony was attended by U.S. Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-11th) and the guest speaker, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, who discussed freedom and the U.S. Constitution. A reception followed the ceremony.
n The award-winning Statesmen Theatre of George C. Marshall High School finishes out its close-of-season run for the 2015-16 season with the musical “Loserville” April 28-30 at the school. The show details the early-1970s story of a misfit geek torn between his computer and a girl. The production features a pop-rock score, and is suitable for teens through adult.
