The first of Puccini’s Il trittico (trio of one-act operas), Il tabarro, is a noir thriller set in working class Paris. A love triangle is at the heart of this very human drama and, at its climax, a cloak reveals a dark and bloody secret.

Suor Angelica focuses on one of the most heart-rending human experiences. Sister Angelica has been confined to a convent following the scandal of an illegitimate son.

After years of missing her child every day she discovers that he died a long time ago.

Angelica is plunged into suicidal despair yet the end of the opera holds out the promise of redemption.

WHERE TO FIND US Leeds Grand Theatre in situated on New Briggate, in the heart of Leeds City Centre. Parking is available at various nearby car parks including Edward Street/Templar Street and the St John’s Centre and Merrion Centre shopping malls. We are walking distance from Leeds Bus Station and Leeds Rail Station – visit wymetro.com for the most up to date travel information.

There are taxi ranks on Merrion Street and The Headrow but we recommend booking taxis in advance, particularly on Fri and Sat evenings.
