It’s only then he can truly become an Officer and a Gentleman. Tue 29 May – Sat 2 June 2018 Beautiful – The Carole King Musical, the Olivier and Tony Award®-winning West End and Broadway show is coming to Leeds as part of its first ever UK tour! Long before she was Carole King, the chart-topping music legend, she was an ordinary girl with an extraordinary talent. Beautiful tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit song-writing team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way she wrote the soundtrack to a generation, including one of the best-selling albums of all time, Tapestry, and countless classics such as (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, Take Good Care of My Baby, You’ve Got a Friend, So Far Away, It Might as Well Rain Until September, Up on the Roof, and The Locomotion.

The above photos are NOT of Elvis! Steve Michaels really does look that good! His masterful renditions of The King and his music have garnered him worldwide fame, and appearances alongside Elvis’s legendary drummer DJ Fontana and bassist Jerry Scheff. It’s 1968 – the major musical event of the year is the first live TV special for Elvis Presley in what would come to be known as The ’68 Comeback Special. Drawing phenomenal ratings, this event re-establishes Elvis as the major entertainment star of the decade, and twelve months later Elvis stars at the International Hotel in Vegas, performing live for the first time in seven years, and securing his place in history as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll! This production celebrates 50 years since the TV phenomenon and is testament that his songs live on and the King still rules! This Is Elvis recreates all the drama leading up to the comeback as well as staging the monumental concert. It then proceeds with the King to his Vegas debut. Featuring Elvis’s greatest hits including Trouble, Heartbreak Hotel, Blue Suede Shoes, Hound Dog, Love Me Tender, All Shook Up, Suspicious Minds and many more.

Tue 16 – Sat 20 October 2018 Cilla – The Musical is a spectacular and heart-warming musical adaptation of the critically acclaimed ITV mini-series based on the early life of Cilla Black, by BAFTA award winner, Jeff Pope (The Moorside, Philomena, Mrs Biggs, Little Boy Blue) and recently nominated for Best New Musical at the WhatsOnStage Awards. The story follows the extraordinary life of the ordinary teenage girl from Liverpool, Priscilla White, and her rocky, yet incredible, rise to fame. When self-centred salesman Charlie Babbitt discovers that he has a long-lost older brother, Raymond, who has inherited the family multimillion dollar fortune, he sets out to get ‘his half’. Raymond is an autistic savant, has a remarkable memory and is a genius for numbers. Determined to get his hands on the money, Charlie ‘borrows’ Raymond from the institution where he has spent most of his life. As the two brothers embark on a trip across America, Charlie soon discovers that Raymond is worth more than he could have ever imagined. Following previously acclaimed adaptations of films for the stage such as The Exorcist, A Few Good Men and The Shawshank Redemption, this will be the premiere production in a brand-new series under the Classic Screen to Stage Company banner.
