WLCU State Council of Victoria attended a celebration to honor Jamil Adouehi On December 4th, The WLCU State Council of Victoria (Australia), headed by President Rami Eid, attended a celebration to honor the poet and the writer Professor Jamil Adouehi in the presence of representatives from all Lebanese political, religious and social parties.
Rencontre pour coordination entre ULCM France et le CCLF Le 6 décembre 2023, le président de l’ULCM France, le Président Mondial et le Secrétaire Général mondial se sont réunis avec des représentants du Comité de Coordination Libano-Français (CCLF) pour mettre en place un plan de coopération et pour préparer une Lettre à présenter au ministère des affaires étrangères en France au sujet de la situation dramatique du conflit à Gaza et sa possible extension au Liban et sollicitant l’intervention forte de la diplomatie française.

Visite au Quai d’Orsay d’une délégation de la diaspora libanaise en France Le jeudi 7 décembre, une délégation du Comité de coordination libano-français (CCLF) s’est rendu au ministère de l’Europe et des Affaires étrangères à Paris. La délégation a soulevé les inquiétudes des Libanais et de la diaspora au regard de la guerre dans le sud du pays et a insisté sur l’importance de faire respecter la résolution n°1701. Le CCLF croit au pouvoir d’influence de la diplomatie française et espère que les efforts internationaux convergeront en ce sens. À l’issue d’un échange, la délégation a remis une lettre adressée à Madame la Ministre, signée par les associations membres du CCLF, en partenariat avec l’Union libanaise culturelle mondiale (ULCM) et quatre partis souverainistes libanais. Dans cette lettre, il était indiqué que: "La situation dramatique du conflit à Gaza et sa possible extension au Liban nous amène à solliciter l’intervention forte de la diplomatie française. UNITY AND COMPASSION AT THE HEART OF CANTERBURY BANKSTOWN MAYOR’S CHRISTMAS APPEAL – New South Wales In the elegant setting of Clarence House in Belmore, the Canterbury Bankstown Mayor’s Christmas Appeal unfolded as a significant event, marking not just the festive season but also the spirit of community and empathy. The event was attended by a wide array of dignitaries, including fellow Canterbury Bankstown Councilors, Kylie Wilkinson, Member for East Hills, and representatives from various religious orders, businesses, and media. Mayor Bilal El Hayek, in his speech, urged to support a heartrending cause: helping a terminally ill lady in the local government area, who has six children, to celebrate one last Christmas with her family. This appeal highlighted the Mayor’s commitment not only to his civic duties but also to the emotional and social welfare of his constituents. Adding to the evening’s significance, Drs. Achy, representing the World Lebanese Cultural Union, presented Mayor El Hayek with an award of appreciation. لقاء "بيت مارون" -سيدني هنأ المطران طربيه باألعياد ودعا إلى انتخاب رئيس للجمهورية
عقد "لقاء بيت مارون" اجتماعا في دار االبرشية المارونية في اوستراليا في حضور راعي االبرشية المطران انطوان شربل طربيه والنائب االبرشي المونسنيور مرسلينو يوسف ورئيس الرابطة المارونية جوزف مكاري. حضر االجتماع الرئيس االقليمي للجامعة الثقافية في اوستراليا الشيخ جو عريضة ومسؤول العالقات الدبلوماسية بيار السخن ،ممثلي األحزاب اللبنانية في سيدني ،ورئيس تحرير جريدة "النهار " االسترالية انور حرب ومدير مكتب" الوكالة الوطنية لالعالم سايد مخايل .وبعد االجتماع صدر بيان عن "اللقاء" جاء فيه: ان المطران طربيه ثمن تجاوب الجميع مع جهوده التوافقية حول القيم الروحية والمسلمات الوطنية مع احتفاظ كل فريق بنهجه وفكره .كما شكر المجتمعون المطران طربيه على تفانيه وتشديده على التمسك بالمبادئ الوطنية واكدوا " تأييدهم الكامل الستمرار هذه اللقاءات كونها تحقق الكثير من االهداف المطلوبة اليوم بإلحاح للتضامن وتوحيد الجهود بين المقيمين والمنتشرين من اجل لبنان والجالية اللبنانية في استراليا ودعما ً لمطلب وقف الحرب في االراضي المقدسة. وتمنى المشاركون "ان ينقل المطران طربيه الى البطريرك الراعي ترحيبهم بمبادراته الى زيارة الجنوب والوقوف الى جانب اهله وخصوصا النازحين منهم مؤكدين على دعم مواقفه الوطنية. وفي الختام هنأ الحاضرون المطران طربيه باالعياد ضارعين الى طفل المغارة ان يحمي أوستراليا الحبيبة وان ينقذ لبنان ويبعد عنه وعن شعبه كأس الحرب وان يصار الى انتخاب رئيس للجمهورية في اقرب وقت.

كعادتهما في كل عام ،وبمناسبة عيد االستقالل الثمانين ،احتفل مجلسا واليتي نيويورك ونيوجرسي بالمناسبة بحضور الرئيس العالمي للجامعة روجيه هاني ،قنصل لبنان العام سعادة السفيرة الدكتورة عبير طه عودة ،نائب رئيس مجلس األمناء في الجامعة فادي فرحات ،رئيس مجلس والية نيويورك الدكتور وسام الحويّك ،رئيسة مجلس والية نيوجرسي السيدة ميشلين عطيّة ،رئيسة مكتب ا لجامعة في واشنطن السيدة مي ريحاني ،نائب الرئيس العالمي األسبق فرانسوا أبو نعمان ،رئيس المجلس القاري السابق مراد كوريو ،عضو الهيئة التنفيذية في حزب القوات اللبنانية الدكتور جوزف جبيلي ،مسؤولي وأعضاء من الجامعة قدموا من الواليتين ومن أمريكا الشمالية ،وحش ٌد من الفعاليات اللبنانية ووجهاء الجالية. تخلل االحتفال كلمة للسفيرة عودة أكدت فيها ان لبنان ،حكومةً وشعبًا ،يريد السالم. كما ألقيت كلمات بالمناسبة من الرئيس العالمي ،وواليتي نيويورك-نيوجرسي ،حول معاني العيد ،والمصاعب التي تواجه لبنان واللبنانيين حيث األزمة االقتصادية تتفاقم ،وطبول الحرب تقرع ،والفراغ في السلطات ،خاصةً في سدة الرئاسة األولى، فدعا المتكلمون إلى دعم الجيش اللبناني الذي يجب أن يكون وحده حامل السالح وحامي الوطن. ولقد قدم السيدة مي ريحاني ك ٌل من السادة :فارس وهبه ،والدكتور جوزف جبيلي (الكلمة الكاملة على الرابط ادناه)،. والرئيس العالمي األسبق األستاذ الياس كسّاب الذي عدد مزايا السيدة ريحاني الثقافية واألدبية والوطنية ،وتراثها ونشاطها ي ٍ ُم ّ نز ٍه وصاحب برنامج. العالمي ،وأثنى على ترشحها لرئاسة الجمهورية كوج ٍه إغتراب ّ ف لالغتراب وللبنان، ي وكتقليد سنوي كرمت الجامعة في الواليتين أشخاصا ً ومؤسسا ٍ ّ ت كان لهم ولها ٌ مشر ٌ دور إغتراب ٌّ كالجمعية الدرزية في نيويورك ،وشركة طيران الشرق األوسط ولقد منحت الجامعة المكرمين تمثال المغترب ،وهو أعلى تكريم تمنحه الجامعة. كذلك تحدثت منسقة مكتب المؤسسة المارونية لإلنتشار في الساحل الشرقي للواليات المتحدة األمركية السيدة فاديا سمعان حول تسجيل المغتربين (الكلمة الكاملة على الرابط ادناه). من ث َّم سلم الدكتور فادي الديك باسم الجامعة "جائزة حسن الصبّاح الطالبية" لمستحقيها ،وهي جائزة أسستها الجامعة في الواليتين وتمنح سنويّا ً لطالب لبنانيين أبدعوا ،في االغتراب أو في لبنان. التفاصيل الكاملة على الرابط التالي

Participation of WLCU Boston Chapter in the Boston Islamic center International Day On December 17th, 2023 The WLCU Boston Chapter participated in the Boston Islamic center International Day, The event comprised of different tables representing the different countries and providing historic and cultural backgrounds. The WLCU, Boston Chapter was represented by the members: Salim Marhamo, Henriette Kassis, Aref Arnous and Julia Arnous. At the Lebanon Booth, we had information posters showing the role that Lebanon played throughout the ages. We also had posters highlighting famous Lebanese American people that have played and continue to play important roles in Politics, Art, Movies, Medicine, Business and Entertainment. Visitors at the booth were welcomed with a free sampling of Lebanese food comprised of Warak Arich (Grape Leaves), Hummus and Lebanese Salad. Boston’s Mayor, Michelle Wu, attended the event and expressed her sincere words of thanks and appreciation to all the countries represented. She indicated that Boston is proud to have so many countries and cultures making up the heart of its dynamic mosaic. She commented “The diversity of our people and cultures is what makes our city and country great”.

WLCU Boston chapter restarting its Lebanese Dabkeh Troup The WLCU Boston chapter is very proud to have been able to restart its Dabkeh troop. The Chapter was able to recruit fourteen teenagers between the ages of 12 and 18. The activity was organized by Mr. David Abichaker President of the WLCU Boston Chapter and Managed by Board members Tony Saroufim and Michel Hajjar. To make this activity a success, we hired a professional Instructor Mr. Samer Abou Jawdeh assisted by his sister Sima to lead the group. Training during the first six-week session was conducted at Our Lady of the Annunciation school and was capped by a performance at Our Lady of the Cedars of Lebanon Christmas party. The show included “The Christmas Story” play performed by the children of the church’s Sunday school, a Concert conducted by the Church’s Choir group and was capped by the Dances Performed by the WLCU Dabkeh Group. It was a wonderful event. We are very proud of this activity and do strongly believe that the Dabkeh troop is a very important activity that can bring the young people together in such a fun way while keeping them directly engaged in our Lebanese roots and traditions.
WLCU Sydney Inc.: An Evening with Gibran and Dr. Charles Malik Literary Award Competition December 2023 saw WLCU Sydney Inc. hosting two significant events, showcasing their dedication to Lebanese culture and literary excellence. The first event, "An Evening with Gibran", celebrated Kahlil Gibran's iconic work, "The Prophet," on its 100th anniversary, offering over 300 attendees a rich experience with a four-course menu and a multimedia presentation. The second event was the Dr. Charles Malik Literary Award Competition, in its second year, which acknowledged outstanding essays from around the globe with a Lebanese theme, generously awarding Montblanc pens and cash prizes to the top 3 winners. Additionally, WLCU Sydney is supporting the publication of a book on Dr. Charles Malik's life and contributions, initiated in December 2023 after six months of negotiations.

The book aims to provide an authoritative account of Malik's diverse roles as a philosopher, diplomat, and framer of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights. These events highlight WLCU Sydney Inc.'s commitment to intellectual discourse, literary excellence, and preserving the rich heritage of the Lebanese community. For further information, click here

Thyme Man’oushe is on the UNESCO heritage list Newsalist – Dec 7,2023 "ألنها راسخة في الهوية اللبنانية" ..منقوشة الزعتر على الئحة اليونسكو التراثي أدرجت منظمة األمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة (يونيسكو) ،كالً من “منقوشة الزعتر” اللبنانية و”التقاليد االجتماعية والثقافية” المرتبطة بـ”اإلفطار الرمضاني” ،وفن “الملحون” المغربي ،و”الدبكة الشعبية” الفلسطينية ،على الئحتها للتراث غير المادي للبشرية. ووصفت المنظمة المنقوشة بأنها “راسخة في الهوية اللبنانية” .وقررت اللجنة الدولية الحكومية لصون التراث الثقافي غير المادي التي تعقد اجتماعاتها منذ اإلثنين الماضي في كاساني بشمال بوتسوانا ،إدراج العجينة الشهيرة التي يوضع عليها الزعتر الممزوج بالزيت وتخبز في الفرن أو على “الصاج” ،ضمن التراث غير المادي للبشرية بنا ًء على طلب قدمه لبنان في مارس (آذار) .2022 وذكرت “يونيسكو” في وصفها للمنقوشة بأنها “خبز مسطح يعد في المنازل والمخابز المتخصصة ،ويستمتع السكان المتحدرون من جميع الخلفيات في لبنان بتناوله في وجبة اإلفطار” .والحظت أن صلوات ترافق إعداد العجين “التماسا ً الختمار العجين ،فيقوم المسلمون بتالوة بداية سورة الفاتحة ،ويقوم المسيحيون بتالوة الصلوات والتصليب”. وإذ اعتبرت أن المنقوشة “ذات قيمة رمزية في لبنان” ،شددت على أن “المنقوشة راسخة في الهوية وتذكر نكهاتها بالجمعات الصباحية التقليدية ،أو ما يعرف بـ(الصبحية) التي تؤدي دوراً رئيسا ً في التفاعل االجتماعي”. وقال الملحق الثقافي لبعثة لبنان لدى “يونيسكو” بهجت رزق لوكالة الصحافة الفرنسية“ ،المنقوشة عابرة للطوائف ،ولها داللة رمزية ،إذ تعكس العيش الواحد بين اللبنانيين” .وأضاف أن “األفران التي تعد المنقوشة موجودة في كل أنحاء لبنان”. وتخبز المنقوشة في أفران معدنية أو حجرية من الطوب الحراري ،أو على الصاج المعدني المقعر ،وتتوافر بالزعتر والزيت فحسب ،أو بالجبن ،وتضاف إليها أحيانا ً بعض أنواع الخضراوات ،ويمكن أن تؤكل مع اللبنة. و”يسهم بيع المنقوشة في المخابز الصغيرة في تنمية االقتصاد المحلي” ،بحسب “يونيسكو”. وباتت مخابز ومطاعم توفر المنقوشة اللبنانية في عدد من دول العالم بفضل انتشار اللبنانيين فيها. الخبر الكامل على الرابط التالي

AGENDA LA UNIÓN CULTURAL ARGENTINO LIBANESA PARTICIPARÁ DEL FORO SOCIAL MUNDIAL EN NEPAL entre el 15 y el 19 de febrero THE ARGENTINE LEBANESE CULTURAL UNION WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE WORLD SOCIAL FORUM IN NEPAL between February 15 and 19 The ARGENTINE-LEBANESE CULTURAL UNION will participate in the World Social Forum to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal, between February 15 and 19. Marcela Guerci Nedir, national head of Education and Culture at UCAL, will work on the problem of the role of the institutions that represent the collectivities resulting from immigration to America at the beginning of the twentieth century. The main reference will be the experience of Lebanese migration to Argentina and the trajectory of its descendants in sustaining their identity. The World Social Forum was created in 1999 and held for the first time in Brazil in 2001. Its purpose is to bring together organizations and social movements that discuss and analyze proposals for an egalitarian world, committed to the construction of a planetary society oriented to a fruitful relationship between human beings and between them and the Earth. Marcela, belongs to UCAL Olavarría and has a degree in Social Anthropology, with more than thirty years of experience in teaching and research at the National University of the Center of the Province of Buenos Aires (UNICEN). She is co-director of the project for the rescue and enhancement of Lebanese heritage, which arose from an agreement between UNICEN and the Lebanese Society of Olavarría.
