Advent Blessing

Led by Fr Steven Rigo, Canonical Administrator and Custodian of Mission

Fr Steven Rigo:

In this Advent Season, let us bow our heads and pray for God’s blessing. We believe that the Son of God once came to us; We look for him to come again.

May Christ’s coming bring us the light of his holiness and his blessings bring us freedom.

All: Amen

Fr Steven Rigo:

May God make us steadfast in faith, joyful in hope and untiring in love all the days of our lives.

All: Amen

Fr Steven Rigo:

We rejoice that our Redeemer came to live with us as man. When he comes again in glory, may Christ reward us with endless life.

All: Amen

Fr Steven Rigo: May almighty God bless us, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

All: Amen

Led by Angelina Badawi 2026 College Co-Captain

Loyola College acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of this Land, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

For thousands of years, these lands, skies and waters have been tended, nurtured, and cared for by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander sisters and brothers. As a school, we are committed to respect and learn from Elders, past and present, how to care for our common home to create a safe, more just society where everyone can flourish. We acknowledge the rich beauty and knowledge of First Nations cultures.

National Anthem

Australians all let us rejoice, For we are one and free; We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil; Our home is girt by sea; Our land abounds in nature’s gifts Of beauty rich and rare; In history’s page, let every stage Advance Australia Fair.

In joyful strains then let us sing, Advance Australia Fair.

Opening Prayer

Led by Kevin Xiao 2026 Christian Service Co-Captain

Lord,

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross We’ll toil with hearts and hands; To make this Commonwealth of ours

Renowned of all the lands; For those who’ve come across the seas We’ve boundless plains to share; With courage let us all combine To Advance Australia Fair.

In joyful strains then let us sing, Advance Australia Fair.

Guided by the values of Loyola College - Justice, Mercy, and Faithwe pray that You guide us in our thoughts, words, and actions and that our commitment to justice inspires fairness, our sense of mercy encourages compassion, and our faith provides strength and purpose.

In the footsteps of Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit, we pray that our community embrace kindness and respect, treating one another with dignity and understanding, and seek to be a place where everyone feels welcomed and valued.

Following the example of St. Ignatius, we are called to give and not to count the cost, to labour and not seek reward, knowing that in serving others, we truly flourish. Jesus asks us to follow the Ignatian call to be people for and with others, reaching out in solidarity to those in need.

As members of the Loyola College family and with Christ at the centre of our actions, we pray that we may see Him in everyone we encounter and in doing so, build and maintain strong, positive relationships within our school, strengthened by mutual support and a shared vision for a community of learning, faith, and love.

St. Ignatius, pray for us.

Amen.
