Juventino, Alvaro, and Pr. Ricardo wrote a song for us to welcome us to La Israel.

The school goes through 6th grade. The first graders sang us a song and we sang head, shoulders, knees, and toes.

La cocina “the kitchen is a hub of activity, cooking, eating, and sharing stories.

As at the cocina, most people cook over an open fire in their homes. This leaves tar residue on the inside of the house and their lungs.

Together with the villagers we installed a stove in each of the 24 Lutheran homes. These stoves burn more efficiently and are vented outside the home.

Santos beamed as she told us about her new stove. She loves it, especially because it got hot fast, “caliente rapido!

Martha wove a gift for our congregation to say thank you for the stoves! She presented it to us at the end of the worship service on Friday.

Pr. Karen translated Pr. Stephen’s sermon, and she presided at communion. Ten children received first communion!

We signed a partnership between Lutheran Church of the Resurrection and JesĂşs de los Milsgros!

We are the church together! Pastor Stephen and Pastor Ricardo.

As part of our partnership, please pray for our friends of JesĂşs de los Milagros in La Israel, Guatemala. We intend to return in 2017 for another visit. Your continued financial generosity through our budget and endowment made the gift of these stoves possible.
