Sept 2 - Worm in an Apple: Read “Diary of a Worm” by Doreen Cronin, then create a movable paper worm in a paper apple.

Sept 23 - Recycled Bottle Art: Read “The Life of a Little Plastic Bottle” by Suzanne Fossey, then reuse an old water bottle to create a unique hanging art piece.

Oct 14 - Salt Spider Web: Read “The Very Busy Spider” by Eric Carle, then using glue, salt and water colours create a beautiful 3D spider web.

Sept 5 - Back to School Bingo: Play BINGO for a chance to win a cool prize you can use going back to school.

Sept 6 - 3D Hand Drawing: Read “Beautiful Hands” by Kathryn Otoshi, then trace and colour in your own hand in a way that makes it look 3D.

Sept 12 - Worry Worm: Make a worry worm that you can keep with you, or share with a friend.

Sept 13 - Apple Stamping: Read “The Biggest Apple Ever” by Steven Kroll, then use cut apples and paint to stamp a jar-shaped page with the apple slices.

Sept 19 - Connect 4 Challenge: Bring a friend and we will have a contest to be the Connect 4 Champion!

Sept 20 - Hobbit Day: Read “Who was J.R.R. Tolkien?” by Pam Pollack, then using felt and paint create a Lórien style leaf brooch.

Sept 27 - Sensory Leaf Painting: Read “The Leaf Thief” by Alice Hemming, then squirt red, yellow, green and orange paint into a Ziplock bag, tape, then squish!

Oct 3 - Tie Dye: Learn the basics of tie-dying and create something new and personal.

Oct 4 - Paper Plate Basket: Read “Ten Red Apples” by Pat Hutchins, then using a paper plate and yarn weave a basket to place your own paper apples in.

Oct 10 - Paper Mâché Mask: Make a paper mâché mask.

Oct 11 - Flying Bat: Read “Bats at the Library” by Brian Lies, then create a bat to fly through the sky.

Oct 18 - Monster Maker: Read “Monster Chef” by Nick Bland, then using recycled materials we will make our own monsters.

Oct 24 - Halloween Haunt: Learn all about Halloween and spooky haunting places.

More than just Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Bring your favourite recipe to share.

Over a three-month period, 91 submissions were received for the Take Your Shot Teen Photo Contest from teens located throughout Lambton County.

A panel of jurors selected 26 photographs for the exhibit in the following categories: Groups, Candid/Environmental, and Creative/Fine Art portraits.

Four teens received awards for their creative photographs: Rylee Kerr (Overall Winner), Miranda Hurst (Groups), Isabelle Robert (Candid/ Environmental), and Ava Donald (Creative/Fine Art).

Teens included in this year’s exhibition include: Alexis Brown, Alyssa Bydeley, Benedict Lumapas, Elliott Besley, Jade Harris, Lina Chanaga, Raveena Duggal, Regan Jacklin, Savana Gorniak, and Sydney Roper.

The ‘Humans of Lambton’ exhibit will be on display until October 14, 2023 at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery.
