Access the Library Catalogue The Library catalogue can be accessed from anywhere via the internet. Point your browser to:

https://library.lcb.ac.uk/Heritage Or, access the catalogue via the College website at www.lcb.ac.uk. Click on the link to “College Information” in the top left-hand corner and then click on the link to “Library”. On the next page scroll down and click on “Browse Library catalogue”.

Search the Library Catalogue

General search

Click here to change to Advanced search

When you enter the Library’s online catalogue you are taken straight to the general search page. Enter your search term here. This could be the title of a book, the name of an author or a keyword relating to the information that you would like to find. Search tips: 

Exclude connecting words like “the”, “to”, “at”, and “in”.

To search using a title and author chose one word from the title and connect it with the author using the word “and”. E.g. “plastering and Taylor”.

Advanced search

Use the Advanced search to narrow down the list of hits that are returned by a search. 

E.g. To search specifically for plastering DVDs type in a keyword then use the drop down file below “Media type” to select “DVD”

Viewing your results

Click to view detailed record

The summary of results shows all the resources which match your search. Click on a title to view more information about a resource including it’s availability.

Make a reservation If all the copies of a book you need are on loan you can make a reservation. This way when a copy becomes available we will reserve it for you. When your reservation is available you will be notified. You can also check the status of your reservations by logging-in to your Library account.

Read electronic books (e-books) Are you just searching for e-books? To produce a list of e-books use the Advanced Search screen to enter your keywords and then select “E-book� from the drop-down list of media types. 1

From the resulting list choose the book that you would like to read on screen and click on the title. 2

On the next screen you will be asked for a Username and Password.

Enter the Username and Password that you use to log-in to a computer at Leeds College of Building. If you have any difficulty with this please contact the Library . (See “Contact us”) 7


Manage your Library account Enter your Reader code (from the front of your College ID card) and your PIN number. The first time you log-in your PIN number will be your date of birth in the form DDMMYY

To view your Library account click on “Account”.

Loans and Renewals—Your current loans are displayed in a table. To renew the loan on an item use your mouse to put a tick in the box at the end of the row and then click on “Renew”*

Reservations—Click on this tab to view the current status of any reservation requests you have made. If you no longer require a reservation on an item put a check in the box at the end of the row and click on “Cancel” History—Click on this tab to view your entire borrowing history.

Change PIN—Select the “Preferences” tab and then click on change PIN *You may renew your books online a maximum of 10 times (i.e. without bringing them into the Library) 9
